Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 5 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Honda Fit's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove some interior trim or carpeting to access the harness.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Honda Fit's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Honda Fit operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Video Transcript for Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 118420 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Mazda 3, Honda Fit, Mitsubishi Galant, Acura TSX, Honda Accord, and Honda Civic. To ensure, double check that this is a fit for your vehicle you can always use the vehicle fit guide at etrailer.com.This unit provides a four way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailers signal lights. This is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters, adapters are sold separately. And it comes with the dust cap for the four way flat plug, that way you can cover up the connection points when it's not being used. The black box on the unit is the included circuit protected taillight converter, this insures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailers, this provides protection against electrical shorts and overloads. The unit is designed to connect quickly and easily, you don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires.

It also comes with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through that whole process step by step. What you'll need to do is locate you connection points in the trunk of the vehicle and plug in all of your connectors. Now these connectors are custom fit for your vehicle, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the post on the vehicle and they're gonna snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you have those plugged in you'll need to make a ground connection, that's your white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You'll want to get that grounded to a suitable grounding location and then you'll need to mount the converter box to a safe, out of the way location. It does come with a grounding screw and some cable ties that we can get everything mounted and secured and you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring with those cable ties. One your installation's complete the four way connectors gonna be stowed within the trunk of the vehicle.

You have plenty of wiring here, that way you can extend it out the rear when you need to use it, roll it up and tuck it away when you don't. It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease in all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole connector itself. That grease is specifically designed to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. It is available and sold separately at etrailer.com.When it comes to the maximum ampers for the stop and turn lights we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit, but for the taillights we're looking at five amps circuit. That's gonna do it for today's look at the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector..

it Works in a 2007 Civic Si Sedan I'm not exactly sure why it says it will not work with the Civic Si models. I researched parts from Honda and found that the tail light wire harness for the 2007 Civic EX and Si are the same. So this past summer I went on a limb and purchased this unit rather than the alternative one which would have required me to spice into wires. I've confirmed that it does work on a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan. It may not work for 2008+ Si Sedans, and it may not work for 2006+ Si Coupes, but I know for sure it works on my 2007 Si Sedan without problems. Installation was easy. I read some folks complaining about directions and I don't understand why., I found the directions nearly unnecessary, it's a pretty simple plug-in and go item. If you have a basic understanding of wiring or you've wired up a trailer before, it should be very straight forward where everything needs to plug into and why. I will admit though that you want to layout all the wiring first to decide the best way to mount the harness in your trunk. The process does give you the feeling that you could work for West Coast Customs when you're done. 4423

5 Stars for etrailer's service. The video on their site show the job being done and it was not any harder. I did expect to be able to put the control module in the trunk space as they showed. There was not even close to enough extra wire to be able to install as shown in the video and my car is smaller than shown (Honda Fit). There was only enough extra wire to allow the module to not have to be inside the taillight assembly. I got it installed and saved big money and it was easy. I could not believe how easy this was to install and it works. 106700

After watching the installation videos I was a little concerned about how to route the power wire to the car battery. It turns out this wiring harness doesn't need a power wire. No need to cut/split wires either. Just unplug the connector from the rear light assembly, plug it into the wiring harness female connector and then plug the wiring harness male connector back into the light assembly. The whole process took me about 45 minutes. This went on a 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback with regular light bulbs. 56824

Install went off without a hitch (no pun intended). I jacked up the car, threaded the fish wire, all in all pretty simple. I actually did it on my own and it went well. I was under the car an braced the bar up, was able to get one of the nuts on and put the other two on to hold it into place while I finagled the other side into place (the passenger side outlet on the muffler was kinda in the way). I was able to get it on easily but tightening the last nut (closest to the back of the car) was a bit tough because the hitch frame gets in the way. Overall, it was simple, it's all tightened down, and now we can tow a trailer/cargo/whatever! Thanks etrailer, your prices beat anyone on the internet and Uhaul by at least 100 bucks. 59089

Actually thanks to you guys, much cheaper than Uhaul and other sites, the install was easy and everything worked well and we ended up towing a trailer from LA to Milwaukee when we moved, on a Mazda 3! So, yeah, pretty happy with it, now we can do things like put an attachment on for bikes or camping equipment or whatever. Thanks for the follow up, thats good customer service

Special thanks to Jim T!!! I actually owned this for roughly a year before installing the harness. Much like Jim, the hitch went on without a problem, and when I made it to the installation instructions for the harness, I stared at it and my trunk for 15 minutes and put it on the shelf....(yes, i have two engineering degrees.....) I settled for the main intended use of the hitch for carrying bikes :) I decided to following Jims instructions this weekend when I went back to the website to find the "directions" again. Installation was complete within 10-15 minutes thanks to his painstaking instruction writeup. Key is to remove the strip edge piece first. I was able to do the right hookup without removing any panel fasteners, and only had to remove one for the left side (for those of you who try it without, you do have the proper wiring harness, there is a fourth plug above the other three for the missing harness connection (that cost me half of the installation time). A few tie wraps, a few snaps and back in business!! works like a charm. Thanks Jim, there was no need for you to do that but you made the world a better place from your effort!!! 2099

Feed the directions to the dog While the hitch went on my '06 Civic without a problem, this wiring harness allowed our neighbors to learn some new colorful hyphenated words, fitting to my level of aggravation! While the quality of the product was certainly top-notch, the installation instructions were almost unintelligible, highly generic and ambiguous. I rolled them into a ball after 10 minutes and used them to play fetch with the dog. Here are some tips to make this a 10 minute deal instead of 1-1/2 hours that it cost me. PREPARATION - After the trunk mat is out, remove the plastic interior trunk edge piece (about 2' long and right below the bottom of the trunk opening). To do this, lift up and inward at the same time. There are 4 plastic pins and a location tab that hold this in place. If you simply pull on it from the bottom, you'll break off the plastic locator tab. BE CAREFUL! Once this is off, simply remove the three plastic fasteners from the trunk material so as to gain access to the back of the tailights. It's helpful to have a partner hold this material out of the way while you work. INSTALL - You'll see 4 groupings of wiring coming off the little black logic box, one is for the 4-pin trailer harness and the other three connect to the tailights. 2 of the wire groups (the one with the single yellow wire and the one with the 2 wires) go to the drivers side tailight and the single green wire goes to the passenger side tailight. There are 3 connectors on each tailight, each being different, so it's impossible to make an error connecting. These connectors remove by depressing a tab on the edge of the connector while pulling. For each of the 3 wire groups, simply attach the two connectors in series with the disconnected lead from each tailight. There is a main ground lug just below the drivers side tailight, and this is where you attach the white wire with the eyelett on the end. REASSEMBLY - Get yourself some extra wire ties. Attach all of the excess wire to the factory loom. Now, pull the paper off the double-faced tape on the logic box and attach it to the flat surface just to the outside of the drivers side tailight (between the light and the fender). Reassemble all else, making sure that the interior panels fit into the groove in the trunk weatherstripping or the fasteners won't align. They don't tell you this, but the 4-pin trailer connection stays in the trunk when not in use, and the trunk shuts fine with the lead in use. 896

For my Mazda 3 Speed, I ordered both the hitch and the wiring harness. Both were a perfect match and installed on the vehicle very easily. The instructions were clear. I am especially impressed with the "spring" wires used to "fish" two of the bolts through the frame. Ingenious! If I ever have need, I'll be back! In the meantime, time to take the jet ski for a ride. Thanks! 547841

The wiring harness I purchased for my daughter's 2008 Accord, was simply, simple! I've never ordered anything that went in as easy as this did. Not counting the time it took to remove the panel covers in the trunk, installation took less than ten minutes. The whole job start to finish including testing, 20 minutes. I can't post a picture because I don't have one AND it wouldn't show anything anyway as all the wiring looks stock. Wish I would have had one of these when I wired up the Durango, but that car is gone now. 421841

The product was super high quality and well made. It was incredibly easy to install and only took about 10 minutes and that includes the time to take apart the trunk! The wire that connects to the trailer is flat and doesn't get pinched when closing the trunk on it! Overall it was a great purchase! I had purchased the kind that you hardwire/splice in and decided to see if I could find a hassle free custom kit instead (I didn't want to accidentally short or cause any issues with my cars stock wiring) and I found this and I am extremely happy I did (you don't have to modify the stock wiring at all)! It was about twice the price but it is well worth it for the convenience! 411139

The product was perfect. My compliment is for etrailer. Awesome people. Advice to users: watch the videos first. Also, I had to get a different drawbar because [rental trailer] needs the ball to be 18" off the ground and I only had 9". Bought this at the same time I bought my hitch and hitch bike rack. figured if I was installing a hitch I might in the future haul a trailer and would need lights. later bought a hitch mounted cargo rack and added lights. boxes would cover or block my tail lights of my car, so I added lights to the cargo rack. Works great. Thank you. 368755

I couldnt be happier with all my purchases. I use the Bike Rack frequently and have used the trailer hitch to tow a trailer once so far. Maybe Ill get to use that a little more this year also. Love the purchases.

The hitch was a breeze to install on my 2013 Honda Fit, and gutting the rear interior panels to install the 4 pole adapter was easy and fun. It took us an hour and a half to get the job done with two people. It would take a bit longer as a solo job, but it's a very simple install, and would be doable alone using blocks. Wiring tested fine on the trailer. There is a little play in between the drawbar and the hitch receiver, but it's nothing worth worrying about for light towing applications. Drawtite drawbar and Drawtite hitch receiver are made for one another, and I would definitley recommend this solution to anyone looking to tow a kayak or small sport frame trailer with a 2013 Fit. 337987

Grand Touring models of the Mazda 3 are equipped with LED taillights, which will make a difference if you are wanting to install a trailer wiring harness. If you do NOT have the LED lamps, you can...

  • Recommended Towing Package for a 2011 Mazda 3 Sedan
  • We have everything you are looking for, but I must warn you that Mazda does not recommend towing with this vehicle, so you would be doing so at your own risk. The other complication is that there is no stated towing capacity for your vehicle because it is not recommended for towing. You will want to be very careful if you choose to tow. For a trailer hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Hitch # 24842. This hitch as a Gross Trailer Weight Capacity of 2,000 lbs. and a Tongue Weight...

  • Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24842 Fit a 2010 Mazda 3 Sedan Regular Touring Model
  • The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24842, will actually fit the 2010 Mazda 3 sedan Touring or Grand Touring models. I have included a link to the installation details for reference. You will need the recommended ball mount. You can use ball # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, you will need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118420. I have included a link to the installation details and a video showing a typical installation.

  • Curt Trailer Hitch vs Draw Tite Trialer Hitch Appearance for a 2009 Honda Accord V6 Sedan
  • All of the trailer hitches available for the Accord will position the receiver at approximately the same point at the rear of the vehicle. The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24899 will have the advantage, appearance wise, since the cross member of the hitch angles toward the front of the vehicle. If the Accord were my vehicle, I would select the Draw-Tite hitch, item # 24899. The reason I would select this hitch is because it would be the least visible. The Draw-Tite hitch attaches underneath...

  • Can I Tow a 2007 Honda Fit with Automatic Transmission Behind my RV
  • Officially, Honda states that the Honda Fit should not be flat towed, however, it is possible and there are many people that flat tow their Honda Fits. According to our flat towing authority, Remco Towing, to flat tow your Honda Fit, you will want to follow the emergency towing instructions found in the owners manual. Honda lists specific procedures and restrictions, so it is important to follow those if you choose to tow your Fit. Keep in mind, if any damage were to occur due to flat towing,...

  • Difference between C113833 and C11383 For a 2012 Mazda Speed3

Either of these hitches would work well for you as long as you have a hatchback, if you have a sedan you would want a # C11393 or a # C113933 if you want a ball mount as well. • Comparing Curt Trailer Hitch # C11085 and # 11496 for a 2008 Honda Accord
  • The differences between Curt Trailer Hitch # C11085 and # 11496 are so few, it really only comes down to aesthetics. Both hitches have the same capacity, they install the same way, and they both come with a ball mount, pin and clip. Besides price, the only differences is in the cross tubing. Trailer hitch # 11496 is at a direct angle while # C11085 is more of a gentle curve. A lot of people want as much of the hitch hidden as possible so I would go with # 11496. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2012 Mazda 3
  • On both the Hidden Hitch 60258 (discontinued) and the Draw-Tite, # 24843, the top of the receiver tube will be approximately 1 inch below the bottom of the rear fascia. The bottom of the receiver will then be another 1-3/4 inches below that. Measure from that point to the ground to get the ground clearance. Scraping the ground is possible on steep driveways and dips but you are unlikely to damage the vehicle frame unless you are moving quickly to where there is a lot of extra force that...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2010 Honda Accord Sedan
  • Both hitches are a confirmed fit for your Accord. The only difference between the two hitches you mentioned, the # C11085 and the # C11496 is that the # C11085 fits against the underside of the vehicle more cleanly. It wraps around the spare tire well, rather than passing under it like the # C11496 does. This also allows the receiver tube to sit closer to the underside of the bumper. This would give you a very slight advantage in ground clearance. Also, the # C11085 is a few dollars less...
