T-One Connection Location Points

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your Honda CR-V's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Circuit-Protected Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your Honda CR-V's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your Honda CR-V operate.

This converter safeguards itself and your vehicle against possible electrical shorts and overloads with integrated short circuit protection. Just install the connector as indicated and rest assured that the wiring system of your vehicle will remain feedback-free.

Video Transcript for Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118427 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 118427. This is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector. This unit's going to be from Tow Ready. It's designed to fit 2007 to 2011 Honda CRVs. It's going to provide your four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle. This is designed to power your trailer's signal lights.

Now, this connector is compatible with five pole, six pole, and seven pole adapters. If you need one of those and don't have one, you can find those here on our website at The benefit of a system like this is, one, you're going to be able to add the four way flat connector to your vehicle. This system connects very quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. All you have to do is locate the connection point in your rear cargo area.

The plug here, on the other end of the connector, is going to match up perfectly with the plug on the vehicle. They simply just plug into each other, and they snap together for a nice, tight, secure connection. Once you have the connector plugged in, you'll then need to mount your ground wire. It's going to come with the self-tapping screw to get that mounted. That's the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it, and you'll need to find a good mounting location for the taillight converter.

It's got a mounting hole right here, so that way you can install the other included self-tapping screw. Get that secured to a nice location. The circuit protected taillight converter is designed to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. It's going to provide protection against electrical shorts and overloads. This unit's constructed of 16 gauge bonded wire. You can see here with the four way flat connector, I've got it all bundled up.

It's going to give us plenty of length when it comes to the wiring, to reach out the back of the vehicle and make our connection. Once your installation is complete, the four way flat connectors are going to be stowed in an out of the way location within the rear cargo area. Also here on the four way flat connector, it's got the dust cap attached to it. That way, we can cover up the connection points when the connector's not being used. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit. For the taillights, we're looking at 5 amps per circuit. The custom fit T-One connector is going to plug into your vehicle's wiring harness. Again, that's going to be located behind the driver's side interior trim panel in the rear cargo area. Once your installation is complete, we're always going to recommend that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all the electrical connections. That's going to help prevent corrosion from being able to settle in to any of the connection points. It's going to come with very detailed instructions. These are going to walk you through the installation process step by step. In the hardware kit, you're going to get a zip tie, as well as two self-tapping screws. The zip tie is designed to secure any excess or slack in the wiring and keep it nice and organized, and it makes for an overall cleaner appearance for your installation. That's going to do it for our review of part number 118427. This is the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector, designed for the 2007 to 2011 Honda CRV. .

I just installed the hitch and wiring harness this morning. It went in without too much difficulty. The only change I would make to the installation instructions would be to improve removing and reinstalling the muffler rubber isolator hangers. The outside isolator is straight forward just remove isolator from muffler pin let isolator connected to the frame pin. The inside isolator pin I had to remove from the frame pin first. I could not get it off the muffler pin until the muffler was dropped down then I could remove the isolator hanger from the muffler pin. Note, install the inside muffler isolator hanger back onto the frame pin before bolting the hitch in place. Just not enough room to get the inside isolator back on the frame pin after the hitch is installed. The spacing between the hitch cutout and the frame pin is too close to get the isolator back on the frame pin. See the two photos I have attached below. 66958

After purchasing this hitch and wiring kit for a 2010 Honda CRV I was pleased to receive the follow-up, informing me that the order had been processed and shipped. This vendor's customer service is the best I've had the pleasure to experience for any online purchase! Shipping was followed up and very informative also. It arrived on time and intact via UPS! The online install information and video was right on the money. This had to be the easiest of any hitch and wire kit I have ever installed, and I have probably designed, built, or modified 20-30 hitches in my many years of custom car and motorcycle building, racing, R/V-ing, towing and farming! I look forward to doing business again soon . Thanks!! ......Frank Lyons 70052

After owning this hitch for more than 1 year and having used it to tow small trailers and a couple of personal water craft for many mile I have to say this is a quality hitch and electrical set-up! Thanks again for the excellent customer service!! ...Frank Lyons

I don't normally bother with reviews but you guys saved me a lot of money and aggravation. Here is why. The wiring harness on my 2008 Honda CRV was installed two years ago when the trailer hitch was installed. The left turn signal stopped working and the shop that installed the wiring harness sent me on my way telling me it was a problem with my trailer wiring. I thought I would take it to the local Honda dealer and have a new harness installed. When I asked for an estimate it was about $180 for the harness and about the same price to install it! It was then I found your video on installing a wiring harness and thought "what do I have to lose". I followed the instructions, tackled the panels in the trunk and was able to get at the wiring harness. Excited, I ordered your harness and installed it in 30 minutes. It works fine and I was able to put the trunk back together. Thanks for the video, it really made a difference in my confidence to tackle the project and save me a bundle along the way. 154833

My CRV wiring harness arrived on time to the promise date and performed as specified. The online video was helpful and gave me confidence that I would be able to install it myself before purchasing it. It installed pretty easily but some patience was needed for pulling open the plastic panels in the car. I like having the connector stored in the spare tire well. 115295

The harness has been very convenient to use. A good investment. Thanks!

The product was exactly what was described. I installed it on my 2011 Honda CR-V in less than 1 hr. No issues and no problems. I used it the next day to trailer home a log splitter I rented from Home Depot. Considering what "Professional" installation would have cost me this was a great deal. The installation video was a great help. 149456

Although it is still installed, I havent used the product again. So, no complaints.

This hitch was a very easy install on my 2009 Honda CRV. It was shipped wicked fast and other than some paint scrapes from shipping was in perfect shape. It installs very easily. Video and written instructions are awesome. My Honda is pretty old and the weld nuts were quite rusted. Do yourself a favor and invest in a M10x1.25 thread tap to clean the weld nuts of rust. While the hitch is a cinch to install cleaning the weld nuts can be quite frustrating. The wiring harness is plug and play but again, getting the trim panels off takes some care and patience. It's all very doable for anyone with a reasonable DIY skill set. It's a very clean install at a fraction of what a dealer would charge. etrailer is a great company to do business with. The internet at its best. 447534

Removing the panels for the electrical kit was also different that the video. I ended up with broken panel retention buttons that I will have to replace to make the job right. 92081

All is good. We use it frequently with no issues. Thank you.

I am using this on a 2008 CR-V to run a set of towing lights attached to the back of a large bike rack for added visibility. Installation went exactly as it should have, with no problems at all during the whole process. I didn't even need the included grounding screw because I was able to use an existing ground screw already in the car. I love the fact that no wires need to be spliced; this thing just plugs in! So far, it has been working flawlessly. I thought it was odd that the sides of the plastic box were bulging slightly, but that doesn't seem to have any effect on the operation of the device. I totally recommend this for anyone who needs to use a trailer or auxiliary lighting with their CR-V. 53034

In addition to needing a trailer hitch, I also needed the wiring to safely and legally haul a utility trailer. Honda was smart to have the wiring harness pre-installed at the factory, and the folks at etrailer were smart to carry a product that easily plugs right into this harness. From start to finish, including properly removing and re-installing the cargo panels, it took me about 15 minutes to install this harness. The trailer's lights are operating at full brightness now, which they never did on our old minivan that was "professionally" wired by a local shop. I highly recommend this product if you have a CR-V from the compatible years! 89898

The excellent rating I did for the Curt hitch also applies to the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. I watched the video and read the instructions pdf, and it was absolutely a piece of cake to install. I chose to do the ground connection in a different way than the the video instructions suggest, adding a separate grounding blot for the harness. But otherwize the whole process was exactly as the instructions said. When I went to order the trailer, I had them test it and it worked perfectly. Thank you and T-One for a great product at a good price. 260795

Just bought this for my 2009 Honda CRV. This product was very easy to install. Installation video gives you all the information you need. I was able to install this in about 15 minutes. The installation video says that the little black controller comes with an adhesive to stick it to the car frame, but mine did not come with any. I just used some electrical tape. After the install, I checked the blinkers and lights to make sure they worked and was able to take my 10ft boat to the lake. Great product and easy install. Definitely recommend. 293697

Great product, but the video guidance on could be improved. Showing, instead of just saying, how to remove the center button trim clips might avoid breaking them. Also, a tip... When reinstalling the muffler, the video just says to reconnect the rubber hangers without showing how. We found out the inner rubber piece could be easily reconnected by removing it from the muffler, connecting it to the vehicle hanger hook, then sliding the muffler hook into it. After that, the outer hanger is easy to reconnect. 43035

Complete perfection! I do not typically write reviews but this experience warranted it. I ordered my wiring harness on Monday at noon. By 3pm I had received an email saying the product shipped (I only selected regular i.e. Cheap shipping). the harness arrived at my house on Wednesday! The product was perfect. The video was perfect. Installed exactly as described. I am always weary about shopping online from any sight other than the "big" guys, but this proved that is a proven winner. Outstanding! 24925

We received our Honda CRV kit very quickly, took about a week to get it into the mechanic for installation. He said it went in very quickly and easily, used it for the first time yesterday and it was exceptional! Very easy to take the hitch in and out, comes with a carrying kit for the extras to store away, light kit is simple to use and hook up. My wife easily put the hitch and ball on herself! Would definitely recommend the company and product to anyone looking to add one to their SUV! 293464

Hitch and T-One harness came today. Everything went extremely well. Good instructions/videos online. From reading previous reviews, I knew I would have to run a tap through the threaded portions of the frame. Holes in hitch were slotted just enough allow easy fit up, no prying, no straining. Did the job by myself. Got the "follow up email" from this afternoon. Follow up email has a link to click and give feedback. Very good service. Highly recommend! Trent 380743

Great solid Hitch for the 2011 CR-V. Installation of the hitch took about 20 mins. See the on-line video for details on the installation, this way you'll save time and guesswork. Same for the wire harness. That took 20 minutes or less. You'll need to drill a hole for the ground wire and another one to hold the actual unit but, again, saw the video and, despite a couple of differences (expected when products are revised/updated), everything went smoothly. 415539

Wiring harness was delivered within a few days, and was exactly what was ordered. Installation was fast and easy following the attached step by step directions. From the time I opened the vehicle up to the time i closed it was less than 30 min. Hooked it up to the trailer and everything worked correctly. Made the right choice by buying this product. Sorry I did not take pictures, but it just went together so fast and easy i was done in no time. Thanks etrailer 123174

I ordered the 2008 Honda CRV trailer wiring harness, after conducting some internet research. The entire ordering process, to include arrival was absolutely excellent. To top things off, the installation video, provided on the website, made installation of the harness a breeze. From time of item arrival, to the operational checkout of the trailer lights was less than 1 hour. The best internet shopping experience that I've had. 7762

Perfect in every aspect. Just installed the wiring in my 2009 Honda CRV. Took 25 minutes at a leisurely pace that included testing. Instructions were easy to follow AND accurate (an unfortunately rare luxury these days.) Price, shipping, service, and website were all great. Particularly liked the ability to view instructions and installation videos in advance. Really helped me to decide to do it myself. Glad I did. 50451

Purchased Hidden Hitch Class 3, 2" hitch for my 2007 Honda CRV along with wiring harness and ball mount. Not the handiest person in the world but after installing this hitch, my handy-ego has been inflated. The videos on the website are spot on and are a huge resource for installation. Support during the sale and after were much appreciated. This is one of my top five e-commerce experiences. Well done! 94526

Package showed up on time and complete. I used the Youtube video for the install and it was a breeze. The 2008 Honda CRV comes with a socket already installed at the factory, so I just had to remove 2 interior panels, plug in the wiring harness, screw in the ground wire, stick the module to the inside fender, reinstall all panels and I was done! No drama. I should have this kind of luck with all my projects! 92003

Wiring harness fit like a glove and worked perfectly. This was for my 2009 Honda CRV. Look for my review of the trailer hitch that I installed. This harness was for that vehicle. What a breeze to snap together. This had to be the easiest part of the job. The best part though, when I was all done everything worked (Lights, directionals etc). Thanks again E-Trailer. I bought this for a 2010 Honda CR-V. Installation was straightforward - pop a few trim clips, unscrew a few screws and plug into the connector, which was right where they said it should be. All functions worked properly with a voltmeter test. The wire to the connector is just barely long enough to reach the end of the hitch receiver. Six more inches would go a long way to making this ideal. 412369

The product fits the vehicle and looks to be a quality product. The instructions are great up to the point where you plug into the existing trailer connection in the car. Then it goes straight to the connection to the trailer without describing how to run the connecting wire through the vehicle. Looked at the video that e-trailer had and it was much better and showed how to do the wiring. 177355

Excellent installation videos made this a snap to install. I loved how it was "plug & play" with no cutting or tapping into the wiring. That gave me the green light to make this happen. 109017

Easy to install because of the video instructions, which were tailored to my 2011 Honda CRV. Worked perfectly right away. I like that the connector hides away in the spare tire compartment until I need it for towing. Only criticism is that the self tapping sheet metal screw did not thread properly. I had to supply my own screw. 129429

Plug and Play. Couldn't be easier. I bought a similar style converter once from U-Haul and that one has LEDs to show signal on the output and I think that should be standard, so diagnostics of problems would be easier. This one doesn't have that feature, but it is otherwise functional and easy to install. 30518

Good harness Not bad to install, but instructions could be better as far as how to remove the interior panels. No need to drill a hole for the ground wire; there's a body ground nearby that works fine. Wire tucks neatly inside the spare tire compartment, and fits under the tailgate seal when in use. 726

If I'd watched that install video just before I did it, I would not have broken one of those little plastic rivets... but that is all I broke the first one and not a bad learning curve. All else worked well - I plugged in my hitch cable tester and all the light wiring worked as it should. 57793

Great Web Site After reading your Instructions I decided to take a chance and install the harness on my CR-V. Tell your customers to pull the rubber trim around the hatch back, its not glued and makes the panel trim easy to grab..Thanks 993

I never used the wiring harness. I found out I had one installed already sitting on the spare tire of my 2009 Honda CR-V. I had not idea that was where it was. etrailer agreed to take the wiring harness back and pay the shipping. 171167

  • Finding Reverse Light Circuit on 2011 Honda CR-V to Install Back-Up Camera
  • The reverse lamps for a 2011 CR-V are in the taillight assemblies, not on the liftgate. You can access the wiring harnesses that feed the taillight assemblies by removing the interior panel on either side of the cargo area. Use a circuit tester like part # 40376 to probe the wires in the harness, as a helper puts the car in reverse with the engine off. The correct circuit should be hot, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding the correct wire. I don't have any specific information on...

  • Trailer Hitch Comparison and Warranty Issues When Towing with a 2010 Honda CR-V
  • The Draw-Tite, item # 75547, and Curt, item # 13555, Class III hitches available for the 2010 Honda CR-V have some differences. The Draw-Tite hitch has a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 675 lbs and the Curt hitch has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 350 lbs, but will perform pretty much exactly alike when towing and both have more than enough towing capacity for your CR-V. The receiver portion of the hitch will be in the same spot just below...

  • Installation Instructions for T- Connector Trailer Harness on a Honda CRV
  • The connection point is located behind the interior trim panel in the cargo area on the driver side. The 4-pole trailer connector will be stowed inside the cargo area of the vehicle. You will need to open the rear door of the vehicle and temporarily remove the rear threshold, cargo net and cargo cover to allow access of the rear interior trim panel on the driver side (it may be helpful to fold rear seat forward). Carefully pull back the interior trim panel on driver side. Then locate the...

  • Tow Ready and Curt Wiring Harness Comparison for a 2011 Honda CR-V
  • The Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118427, and the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness, # C55106, are basically the same harness from two different manufacturers. The main difference between these two harnesses is that Curt uses surface-mount technology (SMT) which is newer technology from the older through-hole technology. The Curt harness also has higher amp ratings of 3 amps per circuit for the stop and turn lights and 7.5 amps per circuit for the tail lights. The Tow Ready harness...

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Towing Equipment for 2010 Honda CR-V
  • You're correct. Even though the Draw-Tite Class III hitch # 75547 has a 4500 lb towing capacity, you'll be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated towing component, which in this case would be the 1500 lb towing capacity stated by Honda, which I've confirmed in an online copy of the owner's manual. The towing capacity of the vehicle will always be the final word on the capacity of the towing system. Since it sounds as if you're considering towing with the vehicle, you'd also need...

  • After Installing Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2011 Honda CR-V Vehicle Running Lights Stopped Working
  • It does sound like it is a fuse but we need to figure out what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. Otherwise this problem will just keep happening. First, to verify that it is a fuse, you can use the owners manual and/or the legend on the power distribution box lid to find the fuse location. Leave the harness unplugged when you change the fuse. If the running lights on the 2011 CR-V start working then we know that there was a short somewhere that caused the fuse to blow. Check...

  • Can T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118427 Be Routed Outside and Under a 2008 Honda CR-V
  • On a 2008 Honda CR-V, you could mount the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118427, on the outside of the vehicle instead of on the inside like shown in the video linked below. What you will need to do is find a grommet or exit port at the bottom of the cargo bay (you will probably have to remove the spare tire). You will need to cut a small slit in the grommet to fit the wires through. After cutting the grommet, be sure to seal it up with some silicone sealant...

  • You can indeed install the # TM783106 for lighting when flat towing and the # 118427 for towing a trailer. Since both will not be used at the same time, both will work just fine with no interference. I have linked you to an install video showing the # 118427 being installed on a 2011 CR-V, as well as to some FAQ articles about flat towing that you might find helpful.

  • Brake Controller Recommendations and Installation on 2010 Honda CR-V
  • The first thing I'd recommend you do is check with your owner's manual or with Honda to ensure that the CR-V has sufficient towing capacity to tow the camper. If you get the green light, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The controller is easy to use, is reasonably priced yet reliable, and provides safe and predictable braking. To install the controller on your CR-V, you'll need a functional 4-pole trailer connector, which would be provided by installing the Tow Ready...

  • Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440 Recommendation for a 2008 Honda CR-V Towing a PWC
  • If your personal watercraft and trailer weighs less than 2,000 lbs and the tongue weight of the trailer weighs less than 200 lbs you could use a Class I hitch. For your 2008 Honda CR-V I would recommend you get a Class III hitch like the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 87440, as this hitch has higher towing capacities so it could tow your PWC trailer and if you decide to pull a heavier trailer down the road you would be able to that as well. This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 525 pounds.
