Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your GMC Terrain with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your GMC Terrain's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your GMC Terrain, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today we're going to review part number 56094, this is the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4 way flat trailer connector. Now this is a custom fit part number, it is designed to fit the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain starting in 2010. What I would recommend to do is go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it will show you if this part will work for your application. Now this will provide a 4 way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This does connect quickly and easily there is no cutting or splicing of wires they just all use pug in T-connectors. Basically what you'll do is locate your connection points which are usually behind your taillights.
Plug in your T connectors, run this to the back, you'd be all ready to go. It does also come with this nice dust cap to use on your 4 way, so basically what you would do is wrap this around the 4 way itself, push it into place, and then just leave it attached. And then when you're not plugged into your trailer, you just put this dust cover over it and it protects those terminals from any damage or weather. This part is made in the USA, it does come with a nice set of detailed instructions that tell you and show you with pictures where it installs, comes with a screw for the ground wire and some zip ties to take up any slack of wire you might have. Basically what you would do . This custom fit T connector will plug into your vehicles wiring harness and that usually located behind your drivers side and passenger side taillights. So what you would do, see this T connector with the yellow wire in it This will go to your drivers side.
Unplug your taillight, plug this into there. Go to your passenger side, which is the green wire side, plug that in the same way. Now you do have on the passenger side an extra white wire with an eyelet on it, that needs to be grounded. You can use this screw to get a nice clean ground. Once they're all connected run this out to the back and when you're ready to you can just plug this into your trailer and you're ready to go.
Now we do recommend that when you install any type of wiring that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections. This will help prevent corrosion. But that should do it for the review on part number 56094 the Curt T-connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4 way flat trailer connector. .
Average Customer Rating: 4.9 out of 5 stars (432 Customer Reviews)Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required.

I've seen many aftermarket hitches that are obviously not built for a specific car, and they look terrible when installed. The hitch I purchased from Etrailer.com was a perfect fit for my car. It was built by Curt Mfg., and was surprisingly easy to install. I had the wiring harness installed in about 45 minutes, and it just plugs into existing wiring (no splicing). And the hitch bolted onto the car with no cutting, drilling or hammering. It was done in about an hour. The finished installation looks like it came with the new car ! The process was much less expensive than having the dealer install it. Excellent product !! 137454
I thought the installation of the hitch was easy. The harness was even easier to install. Truly a plug-and-play operation. Remove the tail light, unplug the connector on the tail light. Plug in the trailer harness to the tail light. Plug the other connecter on the trailer harness to the vehicle harness. Pass the trailer harness down to the ground through a space in the fender. Replace the tail light. That side is done. I then ran the harness across the bottom of the vehicle and pulled it back up through the space in the fender using a piece of wire I had laying around and taping it to the harness. Then repeat the same procedure with the connectors as I did on the driver's side. Attached the ground using the self drilling screw provided and replace the tail light. The only problem I had was tie wrapping the harness to the vehicle to keep it up and away from any damage. The tie wraps that were provided were too small to go around the tube on the hitch. Perhaps, the design was to tie wrap it in another location but I though the tube of the hitch was the best location for me. I had some other tie wraps around and I used those. Overall the installation was very straight forward and well designed. Total time to install was about 30 minutes. 307814

Perfect Fit for my 2015 Chevy Equinox. Easy install, just follow the video instructions. Take your time, be gentle with the tail light removal. Use a low torque setting on electric screwdriver for re-installation or you'll strip the nylon inserts. I used plastic flexible wire conduit to clean up the install and keep wires clear of exhaust piping. Tie-wraps provided could have been longer, if you intend to strap the wires to the hitch frame. Ground wire screw provided is flimsy, use a #8 or #10 sheet metal screw for a good ground connection. Worked perfectly the first time. 200768

The product was just like what I saw in the video and just as easy to install. I installed the trailer hitch and the wiring myself with my brother's help. We finished in less time than was estimated and checked out the wiring with a voltmeter. Everything worked just fine. Thanks for the installation video. I would not have tried the install myself if it were not for your video. Thanks. 131864

Wiring harness easy to install. Removing the tailights had its usual issues about how much pressure is needed to apply on the assembly to pop it out. I hate those plastic fasteners. I drilled a hole into the sheetmetal behind the light assembly for the ground connection. The hitch itself went in easy. I had rested the whole hitch on a bucket to get it up off the ground while I installed the 4 end bolts. Don't tighten until you instal the 2 center bolts. The wire snake worked, it should be 6" longer so you don't get nervous about pulling back thru. 201392

This wiring harness is very easy to install. I had a bit of trouble getting the tail lights out of our 2012 equinox but with a a second set of hand they slipped out without doing any damage. I used extra zip ties and wire loom to help protect the wire. Be sure to keep it away from the exhaust if you have a V6 with duel exhaust tips. I modified a Curt rubber tube cover to secure the harness to the receiver. I made sure to leave extra wire in behind the hitch so that I can pull it through when I need it. 63065
Excellent product, very easy to do. I am not a fan of cutting into existing wiring, so this kit was the answer. It took less than a hour. The Curt 2 inch hitch for my 2010 GMC Terrain was also an easy installation. All hardware was supplied and extra for situations that maybe encountered, i.e.., bolt holes not threaded from factory. The 2010 Terrain was all bolt on. What I especially like is the fact that it is totally hidden except for the receiver. 190230

Look, I have no doubt that the product is excellent. After all, it fits perfectly into and with the original equipment. The installation (I took my laptop out to my Equinox and ran through it, step by step) went without a misstep--well, I did drop a screw that held the rear light bracket in place and spent a while retrieving it from inside the car frame, but that was my fault. I also want to note that the video is correct in suggesting using longer zip ties, but I was able to make use of the provided ties, supplementing them with a few of my own. But here's the real deal: The staff at etrailer.com babysit you all the way from order to delivery and beyond. Amazon's a great way to shop, BUT I've ordered twice from etrailer and I'm convinced it is the place to go if you want the right part and SERVICE. Seriously. 135638

Got my trailer hitch today and thing went on without a hitch. All ready cleaned out the the 12 mm weld nut threads with a tap. That was a three hour job by itself. Because the threads were all ready cleaned out with a tap (there is no way a wire brush and penetrating oil would ever work). The assembly went on without a hitch. Probably took me 2 hours at a relaxing pace. Used anti- seize on all threaded fasteners. 223159
Product worked well and was easy to install. I have not hooked the trailer up yet but the car lights are all working the way they did before the installation. I don't have any issues with the harness or the installation . It went well. Parts were delivered sooner that I expected and that is always a plus. 222654

This was so easy. Everything needed was included, except for the tools needed. The instruction were great, if you follow them, nothing can go wrong. I would recommend your products to anyone and I know that they would be able to do the job and be very happy with the results. 188290

The product (wiring harness) was installed in about 20 minutes. The video I watched was exact and helpful. I would recomend this product to anyone with a Chevy Equinox. The hitch and wiring looks like it was factory installed. 145276

Great company to do business with. Web site easy to navigate, very informative. Can't say enough about all the great videos from choosing the right hitch to installing. Saved me a bunch of time. Went on easy using my motorcycle jack. I like the way the hitch sits high and out of site. Spend most time cleaning out the rusted threads on just a 2 year old car. Buy the wire brush if you don't have one. The wire harness was quick and easy. Sure beats the old days of finding wires and splicing into them. well worth the money. The hitch and harness was delivered in just a couple days. Will definitely be back as I rebuild my utility trailer. They have it all at great prices. Thank You etrailer.com ! 316462

etrailer.com must be one of the best companies out there if not the best, both the trailer hitch and the wiring harness arrived before the expected delivery date. I forgot to order the harness when I ordered the hitch and at etrailer.com's own expense they sent the harness so that it arrived at nearly the same time as the hitch. This is my second order with this company and in both cases the goods arrived well packed and the quality of the goods is excellent, the fitting instructions were clear and concise, I had the hitch fitted to my Equinox and wired in just over an hour, it fits perfectly and the gadget to pull the bolts into the holed is incredible came with the kit. 280401

I recently installed the 13591 Curt hitch onto my 2015 GMC Terrain with T connector harness. The hitch fit perfectly and was easy to install. As for the T connector harness, the provided connector were a perfect fit into the GM factory harness. Wire routing was easy by using the carriage bolt wire (provided with the Curt hitch) as a retrieval tool for the passenger side. The only thing I could suggest to add to the kit is a trailer connector bracket and a piece of adhesive backed foam to put between the harness connector and vehicle body. I used a piece of foam weather strip to prevent rattles caused by the connectors hitting against the body panels. 167501

I had the absolute best experience ever shopping online with etrailer.com! I was concerned about shipping so I called and spoke with the kindest most understanding customer service agent ever, Erica. She was terrific, my product was shipped the same day and arrived after only 48 hours, just in time to use for our vacation. Installation took less than 15 minutes and we LOVE the product. The hitch is very high quality and was very easy to install. I just could not be more pleased with your company and your products. Erica was a life saver, she totally saved our vacation! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU etrailer.com!!!!!!!!!!! 285044

Trailer hitch and wiring harness are great quality and easy to install. I had a big problem and it had nothing to do with the parts from eTrailer. My GMC Terrain is about 3 years old and the threads that were in the frame for the bolts were extremely corroded. Getting them clean enough to get the bolts all the in was about a four hour job. If I had a proper brush and known about this condition I could have installed it much quicker. So my advice for anyone installing a trailer hitch in a vehicle other than new is to get the brush eTrailer offers and some penetrating oil. The videos on the website are very helpful too. 319744
Got it a few days. Watched video on line. Installed with in 45 minutes. Awesome product and support! 132694

This was my second trailer hitch from eTrailer. My first was for a Mercedes-Benz. This on-line order I purchased a Custom fit, Class III, 2" trailer hitch (Draw-Tite) for a GMC Terrain and a wiring harness for the trailer plug. I think the name "Draw-Tite speaks for itself. A very recognizable name. My brag is the service. I was well informed on the order progress. One day turn around on filling the order from "in stock"; prepaid frieght on UPS not on a slow boat from China. Both items shipped on January 3 from Missouri and were delivered in South Carolina on January 5 - mid afternoon. GREAT JOB!!!! 332992

The Curt T-connector installed easily. But was not the right harness for my vehicle, although it was the one recommended for my 2016 Equinox with no tow package. After using it for 4 mos.it kept blowing 2 fuses (1 for backup camera and 1 for dome lights) even though I had no trailer attached. I took it to the Chev. dealer, they checked everything out. After disconecting the trailer wiring the fuses didn't blow. So now I ordered the harness that has a module and a sparate power source as recommended by your tech. #118494. Haven't installed it yet, waiting for the weather to warmup! 348765

I installed a Curt hitch receiver on my new 2016 GMC Terrain. I then installed the wiring harness and it couldn't have been any easier. Took me about 20 minutes to install the harness. If all my projects were this easy, I would be a happy camper. Including photo of rear of the car with hitch. The harness connector is hidden up under the bumper cover so that it isn't just hanging down. 312776

Ordered the Trailer Jack and Curt T trailer harness. Trailer jack was exactly as advertised and bolted right on without any modifications. The wiring harness was an exact match for my 2013 Equinox and installed in about 15 minutes without cutting a single wire on the vehicle. I have installed a lot of trailer wiring harness on a variety of vehicles, this is the easiest one I have ever installed. My owner's manual advised against cutting and splicing wires as computer damage could occur. This harness plugged directly into the vehicle's taillights and could not have been easier. 301719

I was a little skeptical at first, the car it was to go on is our tow vehicle for the motor home so it already had a harness on it from the coach, but everything snapped to gather and all is working for trailer lights, haven't checked the tow car behind the motor home yet. After some thought I did use your harness plugged into the car first, then the one to the coach plugged into it, I was told that the harness for the coach has shunts in it , something to do with back feed, true or not I am not an electrical person, so will have to do a follow up later on that one. I need a wiring product for my 2012 terrain the the local didn't stock the right one. To order One would take three to four days and I needed it quicker then that (poor planning on my part) and they ask over double the price that I got from you. You also gave an option on shipping te and cost. I was very pleased with your service You can always purchase like products but when it comes to service your company stands out. I will be purchasing a flat tow bar in the near future and be ordering it from you. Keep up the good excellent service. Thanks Jim 52012

To EASY to install. I purchased this product for my 2012 GMC Terrain AWD 4 Cylinder. Just like the instructions I removed the screws for the tail lights, popped them off (you need to pull straight back and a little hard because the tail lights have straight clips behind them, they won't break, the clips go straight into the vehicle body) and clipped in the harness as directed. Too EASY. When putting the tail lights back on be cautious not to smash the rubber lining which runs above the tail lights on the vehicle itself. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!! 46024
Easy to install....great product. 146076

The 4 flat t-connector was exactly as advertised. Its installation was straight forward and took about 30 minutes, only using a 10mm socket/wrench to remove the tail lamp assemblies. The tie wraps provided were too short to go around the trailer hitch, you need an 11" tie wrap. I bought a 4 flat connector bracket from Curt, but you also really need a Curt connector extension bracket and stainless steel worm screw clamp (sold as a package) to attach it to the trailer hitch. I modified the bracket to accept my own worm screw clamp. 269914

The wiring is very easy to install and worked perfectly for me the first time I used it. The video walkthrough was spot on, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to install and doesn't require you to run a wire up to your batterey at the front end of the vehicle. Besides installing the ground wire with the self-tapping screw, the rest of the instalation only involves plugging in the 4-way adapters to your existing taillight wiring. The product arrived as decribed and I would absolutely reccomend this product. 82234

I'm very pleased with my purchase. I ordered a trailer wiring harness to install on my 2011 equinox. The etrailer website was easy to navigate. Shipping was timely. More importantly, etrailer put together a wiring harness that was very easy to install. The item was packaged neatly. No parts were missing. Clear instructions were provided with colored pictures for reference. I highly recommend etrailer and planning on doing business with them in the future. Thanks etrailer for keeping it hassle free! 224517

Reviewed the installation videos prior to ordering the hitch and wiring harness. Followed the video instructions for a very easy install even though I was laying in the ground and used my small floor jack to raise up the hitch. Installing the wiring was really just as easy as shown in the video, only wish the zip ties were long enough to go around the braces so I had to double up to use them on the lower install. Much appreciate your expertise and very professional installation videos. 219842

The hitch and wiring were a perfect fit for my vehicle. The folks at eTrailer make it look so easy and it really is. It took me about 1 1/2 hrs to complete the entire project, much of that time was due to the heat/humidity where I was working. This is my 2nd hitch from eTrailer and they make it easier all the time with the videos and visual aids on their website. They are my first choice as it is obvious they are serious of their products. Thanks for everything guys. 285596
Pretty Easy. The Chevy Equinox tail light assembly has only two screws each. Easy to remove with a phillips screw driver. The wiring harness is pretty self explanatory. The wire coloring matched the basic wiring from the tail light, making it easy to match up. The harness has more than enough length to reach the hitch. It was a little tricky finding metal to drill for the ground but all and all a good product. The entire wiring project took me less than an hour. 143748

The trailer electrical kit purchased from eTrailer was a gift from the electron heaven! At the video preview, I somewhat did not believe it was going to be ‘that’ easy. End result.., easier than the video described. It was so easy, the video segment tried to nearly make it like a big job.. literally… one hand-held ‘found in your kitchen’ tool, yes, it was that easy! The only disappointment… was that I did not find out about eTrailer for my last 5 vehicles. 351733
How great is this!? This lighting kit, for the trailer hitch I also bought, made VERY EASY work out of installing wiring. If you have an Chevy Equinox, mine is a 2012, after you remove the two screws holding the light assembly to the car, you need to pull the light straight back to come out. I jiggled and moved back and forth until I snapped a piece off the bottom not knowing to how to get it out. The second one was much easier after the first. 350904

Of the two Wire Harness's available for the Terrain and Equinox from etrailer, the Curt #56094 is absolutely the one to purchase. With this one, you do not have to run a wire all the way from the back of the vehicle to the front and make a Battery connection, like you have to with the other harness available. Excellent quality and installs easily, without the hassle of running a wire to the Battery. Curt trailer products are second to none. 25947
First of all, excellent service - quick delivery. Never installed a trailer hitch light kit before so the video showing just how to accomplish the task was extremely helpful. From start to finish the installation took less that 30 minutes including putting on the zip-ties. The product concept of "Plug-and-Play" was outstanding. No splicing required. Have not tested the lights yet but will being doing that very soon. 278998
