Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the rear scuff panel to access these connection points. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

The issues with my order are all a result of poor packaging by etrailer, and UPS failing to deliver on their end.
I paid $xxx.xx for next day delivery, but the order was delivered in two days, which was on UPS, not Etrailer. etrailer quickly refunded the shipping with a simple email. They couldn't have handled that better.
The hitch was simply packaged in an oversized box with no padding at all. This allowed the hitch to jostle around, ripping open the end of the box and tearing large holes in the side of the box during shipping. It appeared that UPS taped the end of the box where it tore open.
I had ordered multiple other smaller items that were included in the same box. I was pleasantly surprised to see they were all still there given the state of the package.
etrailer sells quality products with great customer service and quick shipping. They just need to work on their packaging.
Neither instructions nor installation video mentioned socket for metric bolts. Pliers are a simpler way to install 1/2 inch bolts than snake wires. Otherwise, installation was straightforward--a one person job with ratchet straps instead of a second set of arms.
The harness is what you want to order. It makes for a clean, fast wiring experience. Two more butt connectors would finish the job, but as is the kit is nice.
This wiring kit fit perfectly, and having watched the install video previously made me look like I had installed a hundred of them. My customer chose to wait while I installed this and the hitch, and the whole process couldn't have gone smoother.
This is an easy to install kit, and the install video made it even simpler. I chose to mount my wiring on the left doorpost, where it can easily be pulled out through the rear door weatherstripping when needed. I was able to keep all wiring inside the van compartment and frame rails. Two hopefully helpful comments:
* In order to mount to the door rail, it is necessary to splice in a couple of feet of wire to the green wire between the two light buckets. By cutting this wire, I was able to snake it through the frame tubing under floor behind the rear door latch. I did not have any wiring outside the vehicle.
* There is a wiring lug available on the side of the driver's seat, adjacent to the battery compartment, which may be a more convenient lug to attach the hot wire to. The video shows running the wire all the way to the engine compartment.
Best of luck.
Liked the kit but found a better way to install without cutting grommets. Mounted below drivers side tail light. See pics. Power wire was run all the way to the fuse box under hood instead of battery under drivers seat. This kept all wiring outside keeping all grommet seals intact, and saving time on removal of interior panels which are difficult with 15 passenger seating still installed.
This item was placed inside box with hitch receiver. When I got it the package was crushed, and the little converter box was cracked. It works but I was disappointed.
E-trailer is the one stop shop for everything trailer!!! The hitch works perfectly on our church van
I use eTrailer all the time. Fast shipping, great value and always the right fit!
The trailer hitch is working just great, It was easy to install if I remember right we did have to do some drilling but no big deal.
Great product Plug and Play already have my hitch on couldn't be happier. Thank you guys
The only issue I had to deal with was mounting the harness box. I eventually gave up and used a wire tie to mount to existing hole. 44° may have been the issue with the double stick tape?
Other than my vehicle's panels and battery under driver's seat, the install went well.
Easy install and fixed the problem that the Ford dealership couldn't
Our previously installed harness quit working. Something got fried inside the converter. The part we ordered from etrailer was literally a snap to install and works exactly as it should. So my trailer lights are back in business! The price was right, shipping time was acceptable and it took me about an hour to remove the old harness and install the new.
Regarding installation on a Ford Transit: I've seen several comments about the difficulty of making connection to the battery, which is under the drivers seat. Our van has a remote positive terminal in the engine bay to make jump starting easier. Our original harness was wired to this terminal, so I just kept the wiring in place.

Still working as advertised. No issues at all.
Was as easy as 1-2-3
Very well assembled kit. I used the e trailer install video and followed it step by step. Although very informative the video and printed directions did not address Transit 150s with finished interiors. Unable to route my power cord along the wall I zip tied it underneath then ran the line to a 1/4" hole I drilled under the seat between the base and wheelwell upper edge. Completely hidden and a straight route to the battery under the seat. Total time about 1 1/2 hours.

Were glad to hear the install worked well for you. Youll want to make sure that you use a grommet or some silicone caulk to protect the wire where it passes through the vehicle firewall, the metal edge can abrade the wire over time and cause the copper conductor to short out on the metal.
Worked great. Just what I needed.
This wire kit came complete with everything needed to do a clean install. We used the eTrailer vehicle specific installation video, which made it easy to install. We highly recommend this kit to complete your towing setup.
Received exactly what we order at a good price. Great communication throughout the entire process.
I was able to install it, but there were some serious hurdles. The cables were too short for the transit 350HD crew. I had to extend both the black wire that goes to the battery as well as the green one that goes to the other light. The most time I spent on identifying the problem with one wire that was loose in the socket.
I was able to resolve the problems and it works now as desired.

It is possible that depending on how the wires are routed that additional wiring may be needed. I recommend taking a look at the video install that we did on a 2106 Ford Transit T350. And the FAQ on routing the power wire under the vehicle.
I bought this thing so that I could put a trailer hitch on my 2015 Ford transit 150 work vehicle. Because the transit is a real POS it wasn’t easy. But the instructions were comprehensive and the installation went as well as could be expected. The product worked flawlessly and has worked for over a year now. From a trailer wiring standpoint this is not a bad deal. Shipping was as promised, I had no reason to talk to the people about a customer service issue. It got four stars instead of five because I had to install it on the stupid transit van. I hit my head twice under the truck and I carry a grudge. I know this isn’t etrailers fault but somebody has to pay.
Had Uhaul do it originally and everything they did failed including brake controller.
Replaced all their junk and every thing I did still works perfectly.
Simple install process and strongly recommend if your trailer has old style bulbs.
If you don't use this device with bulbs you will fry you BCM. LEDs seem to work. Ford is ignorant to it so if your van lights stop working, tell them replace the BCM, no need for their diagnosis.
Really like this item. The kit is complete with everything needed to do an average (read: mediocre) installation based on the etrailer videos.
In order to do a truly exceptional, professional installation there needs to be some changes to the wiring a bit.
I mounted the control box on the 'inside' of the D pillar right behind and above the rubber grommet that houses the OEM lead for the left rear tail light. The location shown in the videos is unacceptable. Since my mounting location inside the pillar is higher, that caused the wiring to be short for the right side which required another 18 inches of wire spliced in. Also, since the D Pillar on the Transit is Boron hardened, it's almost impossible to drill through which required locating the ground to another location below which could be drilled with the self tapping screw.
The real fun begins when its time to run the 12 volt power lead to the battery.
The video shows the basics on the proximity to run the wires and where to mount the Ring connector to the lug next to the fuse box under the hood.
What the video didn't show was the huge PIA it is to route the wire keeping it away from heat sources and anything that might cause abrasive forces to the wire over time. The video showed the van up on a lift where the installer could have 'easy' access to all of those little nooks and crannies, and probably with some help from a second person.
Try doing all of that while the vehicle is not on a lift, where you have to raise the vehicle for access so you can get underneath to run this one wire.
I used a good amount of plastic loom where needed, but was able to eventually able to get the wire to the 12 volt source per the instructions.
Please don't take this as a complaint. I knew what I was getting into before ordering this kit.
It's just that the videos are a bit misleading in terms of the time requirements. It takes a whole lot more time than they say, and it's not really 'easy' per se... it is more of a challenge.
The hardest part for me was to fight the urge to forego my principles of maintaining excellence, for mediocrity just to avoid the hassles of doing the job the right way as opposed to taking the easy way out...
Regardless, I'm still giving this item 5 stars. It's truly a great kit for the money. Just do the job the right way from the beginning and you won't have issues later on.
Vicki is the best!always gets here fast!
Didnt need. Our van was already prewire d.

I actually have not used the hitch yet. This is on a 350 Transit, I used once to haul my Indian. After installing one on my Cherokee, for the money, I had to put one on this too.
