1994 Ford Ranger - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Ford Ranger with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting, splicing or tapping required. Includes tail light converter.

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing of wires
    • Locate connection points along frame rail
    • Plug in T-connector
  • Includes a tail light converter to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 4 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located beneath your vehicle, along the driver's-side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. The tail light converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Video Transcript for Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118325 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pull flat trailer connector. This product fits a 1994 to 2008 Mazda B Series Pickup, as well as a 1993 to 1999 Ford Ranger. It's going to provide your four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle. It's going to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull, and 7 pull adapters. The adapters are sold separately, and it's going to come with a dust cap for the for way flat connector. That way you can cover up the connection points when your plug's not being used.

The black box is going to be the included taillight converter, this is going to insure that you . Excuse me. That your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The unit's designed to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection point, along the frame rail, and plug in your T connector.

The ports on the connector are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice tight secure fit. Once you have that plugged in, you'll need to mount your converter box to a nice clean alloy wheel location. It's going to come with some double sided adhesive tape on it, that way you can easily get that mounted. Some other options includes includes a mount hole right here, so that way you can use one of the included screws to get it mounted that way, or it includes one large zip tie, that way you can get it mounted with a zip tie. Multiple options to get that converter box mounted, but you want to get that mounted to a nice clean out of the way location. Then you can secure your excess wires if you have any slack in your wiring. You can use that zip tie or you can provide your own.

Once your installation's complete, the four way connector's going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch, you can loop it around the safety chain loop, or you can purchase a mounting bracket. Mounting bracket is sold separately, but it is recommended to help keep the connector secure. It's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself. That grease is going to help prevent corrosion, so if you need some of that, you can find it here as well. It's going to be sold separately also. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 2.1 amps per circuit, and for the taillights we're looking at 4 amps per circuit.

It's going to come with your detailed installation instructions, those are going to walk you through the whole process step by step. That's going to do it for today's look at the T1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pull flat trailer connector.

I installed this on a 1996 Ranger. I removed the rearmost bumper mounting bolt on each side and then loosened the other two. This allowed the bumper to drop down far enough to easily access the wiring. At that point you unplug the factor harness and plug in the trailer wiring. I drilled one hole behind the license plate to hold the wiring harness in place and the installation was complete. 132588

No problems. Easy installation.

Product was as described. It plugged right into the original harness everything thing is great. I went cheap on shipping and still had the harness in 4 days. I will not go anywhere else for trailer parts. Awesome job 232702

It still works just like it did when I installed it.

Plug and play. Can't beat it. I bought one of these for my 92 Ford Ranger and one for my 96 Ford Ranger. 2 different part numbers. Simple as unplugging the harness where the bed attaches to the frame at the rear and plug this in between the two plug halves. EZ-PZ. I have used etrailer before and i will use them again if i need to. 400185

Couldn't be happier with the wiring harness. It plugged directly into the wiring harness on the truck and had enough length to route it along the frame and secure it with wire ties in several places. The converter came with self-stick adhesive which made mounting a breeze, although I also secured it with a small bolt through the mounting hole on the converter. During the installation, I used 1/2 inch plastic ribbed wire conduit to protect the wiring harness from chaffing, although it is not necessary. I installed it on a 1999 Ford Ranger, which has separate turn signal lamps from the tail/brake lamps. If you have a similar vehicle, I highly recommend this product. Also shipping was extremely fast. 196632

Arrived quickly and was the easiest wiring harness I have ever installed 59115

Works, but even with the protective cap on the plug recepical I get corrosion inside the connector

Dan M - 05/11/2014

The cap is good for keeping debris out, but it's far from a water tight seal. Best thing to do at this point would be to clean the contacts with electrical de-greaser or cleaner that you can find at an auto parts store. With the contacts clean, apply a healthy glob of di-electric grease like part # 11755
Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz.
. You can do the same on the trailer side connector. The grease will slow corrosion quite a bit by keeping those contacts coated.

Great product thus far. The installation was simple (the connector is right above the back of the bumper), and between the supplied zip tie and the adhesive backing on the plastic box, it was easy to mount securely to the back of the bumper mount structure. Now I just need to figure out how to securely and cleanly hide away the wiring while it's not in use. The whole experience with etrailer has been great so far, btw. Everything I ordered shipped in sturdy boxes, was well packaged, and shipped quickly. 262127

As a seasoned auto repair tech I can tell you that the fact that this harness just connects inline to the rear taillight harness is priceless! No exposed splices to corrode and damage the vehicle harness. The flat 4 wire standard trailer connector connects to any trailer without brakes, perfect for my utility trailer. I may have to repair damaged wires on customer cars & trucks but I'll never have to fix them on my truck! Thanks ETRAILER 382255

I am not real good doing things but I decided to try this and it was so fast and easy that anyone could do it--you just lay under the left rear side of the truck like they say and look up---theres a plug right there --you just plug into the existing plug and fish the wire to the rear bumper---your done it takes a few minutes--great investment---Thanks E-Trailer 73458

I ordered a trailer wiring harness for my Ford Ranger. It arrived several days earlier than scheduled, which is always appreciated! Installation was very easy, took only about 10 minutes. It plugged right into the factory wiring harness. A quick check with the voltmeter to verify everything works, which it does, and I'm ready to tow! Thanks e-trailer! 143271

The t-one harness for my Mazda pu truck was just what I needed to haul a 4 point trailer. The transistion wire harness from a 4 point to a 7 point made it a lot easier to haul a trailer with a 7 point hookup. The installation was very easy for both.I have no doubt this way will solve easy hookup from 4 or 7 point hookup.I am well covered for either. 360142

Good quality product! No cutting/splicing required, just pull apart the OEM connector, then plug in the T-One. Use the tie wrap or double back tape to secure the converter. Actually took all of two minutes for total install on a 1993 Ford Ranger 4X4. As always, several choices for delivery, great customer service, and their email follow-up. 226061

I'll tell ya what, this made wiring for my trailer a no-brainer. I found the connection on the rear underside of my truck, separated, and inserted the wiring harness, and i was off and running! (just had to make sure everything was secure). thanks guys, custom harness makes this easy for someone who is not so truck or wire savvy. 65231

This wiring harness saved me both time and money. I f you use a generic harness you will risk poor conections & corroded wires. This solves both with a plug & play type conection, plus eliminates that pesky choice between tail lights or turn signals caused by the independant turn signals on a 1993-2000 ranger. 26690

Received the T-One Vehicle harness with four pole trailer connector for my 1997 Mazda B Series pickup. Very easy to install as you just unplug the quick disconnect connector and install the T-One between the connectors and re-connect. A couple of zip ties and you are done. Less than 15 minutes. Works great!! 52937

Awesome hitch wiring for my ford ranger. I only had to unplug current wiring and plug in this adaptor and that was all. I would like to let everyone know that if your ford ranger (mine is 1994) needs wiring harness for a hitch this is the exact fit and is still working 1 year later. 406235

Easy "Snap" installation. Recommend if installing a trailer hitch along with the trailer wiring install the wiring first. It's much easier to install the wiring before the trailer hitch as the hitch makes it a little more difficult to get to the wiring.harness after its installed. 45507

Easiest way to wire a trailer. Don't be cheap and try to do it yourself with splicing kits. This takes 60 SECONDS to install and it works perfectly on the first try. No cutting or taping. It just plugs right into your vehicle's existing plugs. How simple is that? 70380

Plugged it into the existing harness, and it worked perfect. The only suggestion would be to add a second attachment ear on the conversion box for the self drilling screws. One is minimally adequate, a second would hold much more secure. 86604

  • Trailer Right Turn Signal Does Not Work When Connected to 3 Different Vehicles
  • It certainly does sound like a short on the trailer that caused some problems, but I would not rule out the possibility that it is just coincidence and that there is an issue with all the vehicles in some way, shape, or form. If the trailer draws more that 2.1 amps per side for turn/brake lights then that would cause the converter to blow. On the trailer, make sure its connector is free of corrosion. Then you will want to trace the wiring leading back from the 4-Way to determine if there...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 1993 Ford Ranger
  • The separate brake lights and turn signals on your 1993 Ford Ranger is called a 3-wire or separate system. These systems require a converter, which is not uncommon, to make them compatible with the 2-wire or combined system used by trailers. The wiring harnesses for your Ranger have converters built in. You can use # 118325 which will tee in line with the truck's tail light wiring. I have included a link to the instructions for you.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1998 Ford Ranger
  • The Curt Hitch part # 13138 that you referenced has been confirmed as a fit for your 1998 Ford Ranger so it would be the hitch for you to go with. There will be some drilling required for installation of this hitch. I attached an install video for you to check out that shows the hitch being installed on a similar 1999 Ranger. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop...

  • Troubleshooting Wire Harness Short Circuit on a T-One Trailer Wiring Harness with Converter
  • It sounds like the converter on the T-One Wiring Harness, item # 118325, is shorted. There are many reasons which could cause the converter to go bad. Most often connecting to a trailer that has a short in the wiring is the cause. The only solution in this case is to replace the wiring harness and then making sure the wiring on any trailer you may be towing is correct.

  • Trailer Lights Not Working with Wiring Harness Installed on a 1995 Ford Ranger
  • To determine definitively if the converter is bad use a circuit tester like # 3808 to test the wires going into the converter box. If the signals are correct going in, test the 4-Way end. If they are not correct coming out of the box then the converter is bad and it will need to be replaced. You will not be able to just eliminate the box. The issue is that the vehicle has what is called a separate 3-wire system meaning that all the functions are on separate circuits (brake lights, turn...

  • Trailer Has Turn Signals and Running Lights but No Brake Lights Towed by 1997 Ford Ranger
  • This is strange because on a trailer, the blinker and brake lights share the same circuit. If you used a wiring harness like # 18002, on your 1997 Ford Ranger, that could explain the problem. This harness does not have a converter box included that converts the signal down to the 2 wire signal used by the trailer. You will need to install Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118325. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. If you are using this type...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1996 Ford Ranger
  • The hitch part # E-3S that you referenced would not bolt up the bottom of the Westin Bumper part # 66000-97200 without a lot of modification that I can't recommend. Instead I have a much better option for you for a hitch for your 1996 Ford Ranger. You would want the Curt hitch part # C12012 that will attach directly to the frame of your truck and would be a much better hitch setup. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes...

  • Adding a Brake Controller to a 1996 Ford Ranger
  • First, if your 1996 Ford Ranger came with a factory 4-Way trailer connector or you installed an aftermarket 4-Way, you will need to add an # ETBC7, if the trailer has a 7-Way blade style connector, or an # ETBC6, if the trailer has 6 pole connector. If you need to add a 4-Way, you would use # 118325. If you add a trailer connector or it already has one, the signals for the tail lights on the trailer are already converted down to the correct signals. In order to operate the electric brakes...

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 1998 Ford Ranger
  • I do have a solution to add a 7-Way trailer connector and brake controller to your 1998 Ford Ranger. Since there isn't a plug-in 7-Way available for your truck, one will need to be partially hardwired. First, if the truck already has a 4-Way flat connector then all you would need is kit # ETBC7 which includes all the parts needed to install the 7-Way and provisions for installing a brake controller. If the truck does not have any trailer connector then before you can install the...

  • Differences in Tow Ready and Hopkins Wiring Harnesses for Mazda B Series Pickup
  • The main difference between the Tow Ready # 118325 and the Hopkins # 40215 wiring harnesses is that the Hopkins # 40215 requires the harness to be grounded to the vehicle with the included self-tapping screw. The wiring harness needs to be grounded at a location where the sheet metal is doubled. I recommend the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118325. This harness will have a much simpler installation since there it is a true plug-and-play wiring harness. Since the ground wire...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch 13138 Fit a 1999 Ford Ranger With Dual Exhaust
  • The Curt trailer hitch # 13138 bolts to the bottom of the frame rails so provided no part of the exhaust is in between the frame rails where the hitch will be present (see instructions and video I have linked for you) having dual exhaust that exits straight from the back of the truck should not be an issue. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For wiring use #...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation and Functions for a 1993 Ford Ranger
  • On a vehicle that has turn signals that are separate from the brake lights, a converter, # 118325 in this case, is required. The converter takes the separate signals on the vehicle and combines them to turn/brake lights on the same circuit which is what trailers use. Your trailer has what is called a wishbone harness. Normally, yellow is the driver side and green is the passenger side. When there is 2 brown wires this means that the running light signal is split at the connector so you...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch # 70181 on a 1999 Ford Ranger
  • Yes, the Hidden Hitch Class III Trailer Hitch, # 70181, will install on your 1999 Ford Ranger assuming all of the factory bolt holes were pre-drilled into your vehicles frame rails. All of the bolt holes for this hitch are pre-drilled during assembly, so the holes should be present. It is not common for a hole to be missing. If you want to verify that you will not have to do any drilling, then I would recommend checking your frame rails for the necessary holes. I have attached an installation...

  • It sounds like the # 118325 might be bad since you checked the voltage before the unit and there was power but after there is not. However, since this is the second one of these you have gone through it sounds like you might have a short somewhere on the trailer that is causing the # 118325 to short out and quit working. I would recommend you go over your trailer wiring and check for any bad grounds, loose wires or corrosion and fix as necessary. I attached installation instructions...
