2023 Ford Explorer - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

  • 4 Flat
  • Trailer Hitch Wiring
  • Powered Converter
  • Tekonsha

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your Ford Explorer with this custom wiring harness. T-One connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered ModuLite reduces strain on wiring system.

Features:

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily
    • Locate connection points in trunk
    • Plug in T-connector
    • Run hot lead to car battery
  • Includes ModuLite to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
    • Powered module connects directly to battery to avoid overloading vehicle's electrical system
  • Constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector

Specs:

  • Maximum amperage:
    • Stop/turn lights: 2.1 amps per circuit
    • Tail lights: 5.6 amps per circuit
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your trunk, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove the threshold panel and some of the trunk liner to access the harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead with the attached fuse holder up to your car battery. Connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on the battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Great website, great prices, extremely fast shipping. This is the fifth hitch that I have ordered over the last ten years and always pleased
Great folks to work with.

by:

Hitch for my 2020 Explorer shipped immediately, was well made, and included the wiring. The cost for this hitch and the installation was less than the factory hitch, and it is does not require having to pull off a section of the rear bumper fascia every time you want to install the hitch.

Excellent trailer hitch and wiring harness. I am a novice at car mechanics and watched the etrailer Youtube videos and installed both pieces in a little over an hour. Products work perfectly and easy to install. Thanks!

For me the worst thing was running the power wire to the battery. Harness was plug and play and was able to conc by eal power module and wires behind pannels in the back. Was able to run through a body plug the 4 pin connector to the hitch and conceal. Glad I don’t have to do that again.

by:

Worked for a while, then fried out during my move with the uhaul. Wasn’t the uhaul, as the uhaul lights worked correctly when hooked up to another vehicle. Disappointed.

This wiring harness is confirmed as a fit for your Taurus. It does have a maximum amp of 2.1 amps per stop and turn lights circuit and 5.6 amps for the tail light circuit. It may just be the in-line fuse, I recommend checking that to see if a new fuse would correct the issue. Other than that most trailer wiring issues are related to a bad ground somewhere in the system. I have included a help article regarding this for your reference.

Plus the prices are very fair and and delivery service was fas it was fast. My trailer hitch fit perfect and the wiring harness was easy to install thanks to the videos. I highly recommend etrailer and will definitely be using them again for all my automotive needs.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver Class For A 2023 Ford Explorer
There's typically a range for capacity for each class and some brands have ranges that overlap with other classes from other brands so the only real important thing here is to ensure that you know the capacity of the vehicle (5,600lbs) and the capacity of the trailer hitch (in this case 6,000lbs). Once you know these numbers you'll want to remain under the lowest rated capacity, which in this case would be the vehicle's capacity of 5,600lbs. The highest class we currently offer for your...
