  • 1-Year limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed either within your rear cargo area or beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure if you are mounting it near the hitch.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Power Module

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

  • Low Voltage on Curt Wiring Harness When Lights On
What you are describing seems to be common in some Curt trailer wiring harnesses that use a powered converter. If you were to pull the fuse out of the fuse holder it should not show power any more (with the vehicle on or off). It sounds like you have a weak ground, loose butt connector or perhaps a crimp in a wire. Check all your ground wires to verify they are securely attached to a clean, bare metal surface. These checks should include the ground connector on the tow vehicle, the ground...

  • Installing a 7-Way Connector and a Brake Controller on a 2011 Ford Escape XLT
Yes, the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 and the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will also fit your 2011 Ford Escape. If you already have a 4-Way then you won't need anything else, however if you don't have a 4-Way then you will need part # 118251 if you have the factory tow package or part # 118551 if you don't have the factory tow package. Attached is a sample installation video of the ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2011 Escape for you to reference. The brake controller being installed is the...

  • Parts Needed to Tow Tent Trailer With 2011 Mercury Mariner
The wiring you will need for your 2011 Mercury Mariner is T-One Harness # 118551, which will give you a 4-way connector. To use that with the 7-way on your tent trailer you would need to use the 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector # 30717, which provides connection points for both your vehicle and trailer's plugs. To mount the adapter you may want to use no-drill bracket # C57202 along with Mounting Bracket for 7-Way # 18138. You can see how to mount this adapter in the video...

  • Any Fuses or Relays Needed to Install T-One Connector # 118551on 2012 Ford Escape
The Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness you referred to, part # 118551 is a complete kit to install a 4-pole flat trailer wiring harness on your 2012 Ford Escape. Nothing else would be needed to complete the install as shown in the video I linked you to. The harness plugs inline with the existing tail light wiring harnesses behind the tail light assemblies. A power wire will need to be ran under the vehicle to the positive battery terminal. The connection between the battery and the...

  • Will 4 Terminal Relay, # TR38665 Fit a 2008 Ford Escape
The 4 Terminal Relay, # TR38665, will fit the 2008 and Newer Ford Escape. We have had customers state that these relays are good replacements for the ones offered from the dealer. They are designed to complete the factory tow package on several vehicles, including your Escape. However, before purchasing the relays, open the fuse box and take a close look at the sockets or landings that the relays would insert into. If the landings have the metal contacts in them, inserting the relays will...

  • Installing 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2014 Ford E-350 Van
The connectors you have found are not confirmed to be for the trailer wiring and we don't have any wiring harness that is a fit for what you described. Because you don't have the factory trailer wiring, I recommend starting with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118551 which will connect to your factory wiring behind each tail light. Then you will use kit # ETBC7 to give you the wire, connectors, adapter, and circuit breakers needed. Then you can...

  • Maximum Towing Capacity of a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with 2.3L Engine
According to the owner's manual, the maximum towing capacity of your 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid with the 2.3L engine is 1,500 lbs. Therefore, I cannot recommend you use this vehicle to tow a 4,500 lb trailer. If you find a trailer within the above capacity then you will need a trailer hitch, trailer wiring, and ball mount/hitch ball in order to tow it. For a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75751 which is Class III rated and has a 2" receiver...

  • Is The Tekonsha T-One Kit # 118251 A Fit For 2011 Ford Escape Without Tow Package
Do you know if your Escape has the tow package? If not, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118551 is the correct part. It installs behind the tail light per the included video but there should not be a 10 pin connector as part of the install. I'm thinking that the connector you found isn't for the the trailer wiring but for a different vehicle feature. The Tow Package Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connectors # 118251 will fit to the 4-Way connector...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2012 Ford E-350 Van
The towing capacity for a 2012 Ford E-350 Van ranges from 6,300 to 7,400lbs so you could go with a Class III hitch like the Curt # 13055 (6k capacity) or you could go a bit higher to a Class IV hitch # 14055 (10k capacity) to ensure that you can use your van's full capacity. As a reminder, you have to go with the lowest rating whether that's your vehicle or the trailer hitch. This means that if the van's capacity is only 6k but you put a 10k hitch on you'd still be limited to only 6k...

The 4-way trailer connector wiring harness I recommend for your 2008 Ford Econoline E-350 Van is the part you reference, part # 118551. This custom wiring harness adds a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your Ford Van to power your trailer's signal lights. The T-One connector plugs directly into your existing wiring. • Troubleshooting Tekonsha T-One Harness Causing Issues with Lights on 2012 Ford Escape
The correct Tekonsha T-One Harness for your 2012 Ford Escape without the factory tow package is the part # 118551. If this is what you have installed then there are a couple of things you will want to look at. Please just let me know if I'm wrong but it sounds like it's the lights on your Escape that aren't working properly with the harness installed and not the trailer lights. • 7-Way Trailer Connector for 2013 Ford E250 Van
As we mention in our fit guide, not all models of the 2012 Ford E series vans have both the 16 and the 4 pin plugs. If your van doesn't have the 4 pin plug, you'll need to use the # 118551 4 pole harness instead of the # 118261. Since your van wasn't equipped with the factory trailer connector, it won't be completely prewired for a 7-way. How you proceed at this point will depend on whether the trailer you're wanting to tow has electric brakes or not. If the trailer doesn't have electric...

Then you can install # 37185. Since you will be using the Prodigy RF, # TK94FR, only the lighting functions and the 12 volt circuit will need to work on the 7-Way. To get the lighting functions to work you just plug the previously installed 4-Way to 37185. Ground the white wire from 37185 to the...

  • Why Does Trailer Wiring Kit Have to Run Wire to Battery Directly
The reason the trailer wiring harnesses that have powered modules like the # 118551 run a wire up to the vehicle battery directly and not to an "easier" power source is because this protects the delicate wiring of your vehicle from shorts. If a short in the trailer wiring was connected to a different power source it potentially can damage that circuit whereas if it goes straight to the battery there's no risk of your vehicle wiring getting damaged.

You'll need a brake controller, a brake controller harness and our # ETBC7 brake controller installation kit. If the van isn't already equipped with a 4-pole connector, you'll need to add one using part # 118551. The kit includes an adapter to convert the 4 pole to a 7-way. For a reasonably priced...

  • No Contacts in Fuse Box Relay Location When Installing Trailer Wiring Harness in 2012 Ford Escape
Just about all the Ford Escapes of that model year are equipped with the connector right behind the bumper on the driver's side, but unless the vehicle was actually equipped with the tow package, the wiring won't be ran to the fuse box and there won't be contacts in the appropriate fuse/relay locations, as you've found. So, you'll need to use the Tekonsha # 118551 wiring harness. The installation is a bit more involved, but not terrible as you'll see if you watch the installation video...

  • Will a Trailer Hitch Receiver From a 2017 Ford Escape Also Fit a 2008 Ford Escape?
In comparing a Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 for a 2017 Ford Escape with one that fits a 2008 Ford Escape # e56AR the mounting points are very different. For this reason you will not be able to bolt on the hitch from your 2017 to the 2008. Currently I do not see a hidden hitch available for your 2008 Escape. The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118551 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This is the common connector used on smaller trailers and can also be used with Auxiliary Lights # C53201.
