Features to know about

Effortless Towing Connection: Plug-and-Play 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector

Forget the hassle of cutting, splicing, or taping wires. With the Tekonsha Tow Package Wiring Harness, simply plug the connector into the prewired socket behind your vehicle’s rear bumper, and you're ready to tow. This design not only maintains a clean factory appearance but also ensures a solid one-piece construction, minimizing potential points of failure.

Perfect Compatibility: Custom Fit for Ford Models

The wiring harness is custom-made to fit perfectly without the need for any modifications on the 2008 to 2012 Ford Escape models and many similar vehicles. This avoids the precariousness of universal kits and provides assurance that every connection will fit seamlessly and work flawlessly.

Guard Against Corrosion: Protective Cap and Grease Application

Positioned behind the rear bumper on the driver’s side, the trailer connector features a protective cap to keep debris and moisture at bay. For additional protection, a small amount of grease applied to all electrical connections prevents corrosion, ensuring durability and efficient operation over time.

Simplify Complex Installations: Harness Compatibility with Converter Kits

Built to be adaptable, this harness works with 5-pole, 6-pole, or 7-pole adapter systems. This flexibility means that, whether you’re towing light or heavy-duty, you can easily integrate additional towing functionalities without having to replace your existing setup.

Safety-Centric Design: Comprehensive Circuit Protection

With a design that accommodates 7.5 amps for both the maximum stop/turn and tail lights, you can rest assured that you're not exceeding towing manufacturer ratings. This prevents circuit overloading, reducing risks of electrical fires, while ensuring a stable towing light operation for safety during your travels.

Time-Saver for the Savvy DIYer: Straightforward Installation and Operation

No need for special tools or elaborate instructions. The harness includes simple, do-it-yourself instructions to empower even novices to quickly and safely set up their towing lights. You can have everything in place in minutes, focusing more on your towing plans rather than setup hassles.

2008 Mazda Tribute

Simple installation, works great on a Tribute
'08. [The tough part was verifying my vehicle came with the appropriate pre-installed wiring and relays.]

by:

Wire harness plug right in just like it said it would and was very simple to install. The hardest part was removing the cap from the factory connection which is differant then most Ive seen but no big deal. However it only comes with two small zip ties so I ended up using my own.

by:
2008 FordEscape

The wiring harness and trailer hitch were easy to install. As mentioned in the video, having a little help to install the hitch was almost essential.

by:
Saturn Relay

Fit exactly as expected. I was also able to get information regarding the relay that Ford doesn't install for the trailer lights. Great support

by:

Plugged in and wired just the the video. Quick and easy. Love that the connector boot wraps around to hold it in place.

by:

Super easy installation. Would recommend support bracket. Make sure the connection is behind the rear fascia, and there are relay's in 31C, 31D, and 31E prior to ordering. Works fantastic!

by:
2008 FordEscape

wiring and connections were excellent, simple to install..video was a big plus..after installation it did not work..like other,s have said i found the 08 Escape is missing the relays in big fuse box under the hood..so now it will be direct wiring to tail lights or buy relays

by:

Very quick install, about 10 minutes. It is the perfect length. Easy to zip tie to bumper brackets. I tuck it away behind the rear bumper by wrapping it around the brackets. When I need it, I can just reach under and pull it out. It gives you about 15-18 inches of length from the rear bumper.

by:
2008 FordEscape

I installed a hitch and harness on my 2008 Ford Escape. Everything fit perfectly with no modifications. I watched the e-trailer online video and installation was easy. The hitch and harness look great and add value to my vehicle.

by:

Hidden hitch & wire harnessThe hidden hitch tow package and wiring harness was amazingly easy to install. The support staff are impecable and the prices are great. This website had everything I needed at great prices.
Thanks ETrailer!

Everything arrived at one time (Ordered 5 items). Nothing was damaged. All the items were the correct parts for my truck. The parts were very easy to bolt on, with easy to follow directions! All hardware was in the package, nothing missing or damaged. The hitch looks great, the wiring harness plugged right in! Everything worked the first time!!!!! I can honestly say that I'm happy!!! Thanks!

  • Will 4 Terminal Relay, # TR38665 Fit a 2008 Ford Escape
The 4 Terminal Relay, # TR38665, will fit the 2008 and Newer Ford Escape. We have had customers state that these relays are good replacements for the ones offered from the dealer. They are designed to complete the factory tow package on several vehicles, including your Escape. However, before purchasing the relays, open the fuse box and take a close look at the sockets or landings that the relays would insert into. If the landings have the metal contacts in them, inserting the relays will...

  • Installing a 7-Way Connector and a Brake Controller on a 2011 Ford Escape XLT
Yes, the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 and the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 will also fit your 2011 Ford Escape. If you already have a 4-Way then you won't need anything else, however if you don't have a 4-Way then you will need part # 118251 if you have the factory tow package or part # 118551 if you don't have the factory tow package. Attached is a sample installation video of the ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2011 Escape for you to reference. The brake controller being installed is the...

  • Best Way to Check if a 2011 Ford Escape Limited Came with a Factory Towing Package
The way to check if your 2011 Ford Escape came equipped with the factory tow package is call your local dealership and provide them the VIN number. The relays # TR38665 should work fine in conjunction with the Draw-Tite wiring harness, part # 118251 and would complete the tow package wiring on your Escape. I always recommend using dielectric grease such as # 11755 as it combats corrosion from water damage. I have included a couple installation videos and an FAQ for you too.

  • Light Kit and License Plate Bracket Recommendation for a Curt Cargo Carrier
It would require a little drilling, but I would recommend you get a etrailer License Plate and LED Tail Light Mounting Kit for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier Item # e98943-44LED. This kit comes with a license plate bracket also. Once you drilled holes to install the # 6504 on the Curt Cargo Carrier # C18100 it would install pretty easily and work very well. The Tow Package Wiring Harness # 118251 would also be the correct harness for your 2008 Ford Escape. I linked installation instructions...

  • Is The Tekonsha T-One Kit # 118251 A Fit For 2011 Ford Escape Without Tow Package
Do you know if your Escape has the tow package? If not, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118551 is the correct part. It installs behind the tail light per the included video but there should not be a 10 pin connector as part of the install. I'm thinking that the connector you found isn't for the the trailer wiring but for a different vehicle feature. The Tow Package Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connectors # 118251 will fit to the 4-Way connector...

This is the version for models that did not come with the factory tow package. I have linked a video showing an example installation. The video is on a different vehicle but the installation process is the same.

  • Troubleshooting Running Light Circuit Not Functioning On 4-Way of 2012 Ford Escape
Sounds like you have blown the running lights trailer wiring circuit on your 2012 Ford Escape since the rest of the circuits work and you mentioned that your vehicle has the tow package. • Recommended Replacement 4-Pole Wiring Harness for 2009 Ford Escape
The most common cause for multiple trailer lights to come on when only one function is activated is a bad ground on the trailer side. But since the trailer is new and since you tested your truck's trailer socket and found the problem to be there as well, this suggests that your wiring harness is all done and should be replaced. The trailer wiring harness I recommend for a 2012 Ford Escape without tow package is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat part # 118551 which plugs in behind the tail lights so you won't have to do any splicing. It will also work on models with the tow package if you aren't sure. Unfortunately, you'd need to reach out to the dealer to ask if you have the tow package if you don't know. There are 2 ways you can check to see if your 2011 Ford Escape has the towing package.
