Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove all trunk floor coverings, storage trays, and the scuff panel to access these connection points. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.Hitch looks great on my 2016 edge tucks away nicely and all you see is the actual receiver. Had it installed by my mecchanics as they have a lift the only complaint they had was with the wiring an having out thru the hatch all the time so they decided to mount the four way outside to the actual receiver.
A little time consuming to do this. Since the trailers are LED lighting, we pulled power from the rear 12 volt port instead of running a heavy wire all the way up front. LED works fine with a smaller wire.
The kit solves all issues with modern car. Long as you order the one you need.
This is my second C56272. No slicing all pluge and play.
Running the main power wire fro battery is a bit time consuming but not that hard.
No problems, works as it should.
Overall this wiring harness was very easy to install and had good instructions provided too. I found it easier to run the main power wire inside my vehicle under the carpet & trim to the battery vs underneath the vehicle as the instructions suggested. The only item I had an issue with was the foam tape used to mount the power module, was bad and had been dried out. So I had to secure it with my own tape.
I installed this wiring harness on my 2015 Ford Edge and it works as designed with all connections to my trailer. The installation was completed after some difficulty in getting the wiring up through the very small space under the tail light assembly from below. I did have to remove the vehicle's connection to the tail light and then mate the trailer connection separately before replacing the taillight assembly. There was not enough extra room between the taillight assembly and the car body panel to remount with all the extra connection plug assemblies. It is well designed and works but not a real easy installation unless you have experience with one previously.
It has worked out well.We only got to camp 3 times last year, so will hope to use more this year. My Wifes son installs hitches and said it is a good one!
Installed and works great. The photos in the installation instructions leave a bit to be desired since several times I found myself trying to figure out the orientation of the photo to know what i was looking at. But once figured that out, it went relatively straight forward. The routing of the line up to the battery on a 2017 Ford Edge SEL is a bit of a puzzle. I was able to remove some of the under trim under the driver seat and route through there, then up the back side of the driver front wheel well using a wire to fish the cable through a small opening in the the top of the wheel well that is slightly behind the battery in the engine compartment. If you look up into the wheel well at the spring top, you'll see the part of opening - use flashlight to see light coming through from battery side. Wire should pass across that opening and down the backside of the wheel well trim.
We just recently replaced our 2013 Ford Edge with a 2016 Ford Edge, we had used a Curt T Connector trailer tow wiring harness for the last 3 years without any issue whatsoever thus when needing a wiring harness for the 2016 Edge in order to tow our pontoon it was a no brainer, we ordered the Curt!
Nice wiring harness that worked perfectly after installation. The crimp connectors that came with the kit were not heat shrink as they were supposed to be. An easy install.
Easy installation. Reaching for the fish wires is the most difficult task. It helps to feel for the wire. Then pass the bolt through the hole by hand rather than letting the wire pull it through.
Worked well on our 2018 Ford Edge SEL. Be sure to properly ground all your lights by scraping off the paint first.
Excellent fast service , wire harness works great , have ford edge sel
Item was spot on, it was tough to fish the wires to the light as it is a tight squeeze and it was a two person job. Not the fault of the produce, Ford engineering.
Realistic installation time is 2 hrs and I am not a novice.
Does the job well. Kind of hard to feed wiring harness up to tail light but just take your time and all will work out.
It was the easiest wire installation I have ever done, well worth the money !
Good product, good price, worked as expected. Installation directions were clear and detailed; actual install was more difficult than expected, took 3.5 hours. Product works great and worth the effort.
Product came very quickly. Easy to install and directions where clear and precise. Not my first etailer purchase, they have quality products and friendly customer service.
Seems they could have plugged into factory harness at the bottom of the vehicle instead of taking half the car apart.
Year model changes but not a big deal, slight modification to a shield on exhaust. Great instructions and simple to install. Will buy again.
Have installed and it works perfectly. Very complete kit. Thanks ...
Fast shipping, excellent customer service.
All lights work except the brake lights to the trailer. All power getting to the module and it is well grounded. Felt ghosted with support.
Granted I was offered the ability to send it back for etrailer to check it out, but it didn’t seem worth the $XX to uninstall, send back and install again. I’ll find other options.

I recommend a little more testing to see if the harness needs to be replaced. Checking the ground like you have already done is the best place to start. The next step would be to test the brake light function on the 4 way with a circuit tester. If there is a signal reaching the 4 flat then the issue would be on the trailer side and further testing on the trailer wiring would be the way to go. If there is no signal on the 4 flat then further testing on the vehicle side is needed. I would then suggesting testing the signal going into the module box and then out of the module. If there is no signal coming out of the module box then the harness needs to be replaced. We do have a good FAQ that can help show the best methods to test the wiring.
