Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Wiring Connector, 7-Way - Ford LD - 20030

Average Customer Rating:  5.0 out of 5 stars   (1 Customer Reviews)

I own a 1997 F-250 SD (looks exactly like the F-150 of the same year). I've never hauled anything that the standard 4 point hookup wasn't compatible with. Through private family matters my son acquired a boat and trailer that needed a 7-pin connection. I tried buying adapters, getting on site advice from auto part stores, etc. I committed to buying this harness based upon the videos I saw. It was a one minute installation for me with a temporary zip-tie holding of excess length I needed. I'm extremely satisfied. It works and that's what I needed.

Thanks again.

  • Will Wiring Harness # 20036 for Ford F-250 and F-350 let me plug in at bumper and truck bed?
The Fifth Wheel / Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Wiring Harness you referred to, part # 20030, will plug inline with your wiring harness so you will retain your trailer connector at the rear of the truck as well as provide a second trailer connector in the bed of the truck for your gooseneck or fifth wheel trailer wiring.

  • 5th Wheel Adapter for Gooseneck Hitch in 1999 Ford F-250 Short Bed
It sounds like you are looking for a hitch adapter to allow your gooseneck hitch to tow a 5th wheel trailer. On the linked page you can see the options we offer and the included article will give you good background on all choices. These options include adapters that attach to a gooseneck ball and the superior method of towing a fifth wheel with a gooseneck hitch, the Reese Goosebox replacement pin box. These three products are shown on the linked page. A Goosebox is a replacement pin...

  • What is the Difference Between a Tow/Recovery Strap and a Snatch Strap
The difference between the recovery and tow straps has to do with how the manufacturer designed it. Some of them have hooks instead of loops for the vehicles, some of them are retractable, and some of them use more chain than material. I have attached a link to our selection of straps that you can filter through to choose the best one for your towing needs. You will want to choose a strap that has the correct length and weight capacity for what you are trying to tow. Although some of the...

  • Comparison of Bulldog # BDW20030 and Erickson # EM59800 Heavy-Duty Recovery Straps
Both of the recovery straps you referenced, Bulldog # BDW20030 and Erickson # EM59800, are 3-inch x 30-foot straps with reinforced ends, but between the two I would go for the Bulldog since it offers a slightly higher break strength rating of 30K versus the Erickson's 27K.

  • Does Bulldog Winch Heavy-Duty Recovery Strap BDW20030 Stretch
I checked with Bulldog Winch and their 30-foot strap # BDW20030 has less than 5% stretch so they consider it a "no stretch" strap. I do understand the distinction you're making but we use the same "recovery strap" terminology that Bulldog Winch uses for this item. Many of our "tow straps" like # H10175 include hooks.

  • Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1999 Ford F-150 Short Bed
There are a couple of gooseneck options for the 1999 Ford F-150 short bed. First, you can use the B&W Turnover ball hitch, # BWGNRK1197, that you have referenced. I have also included a link to the right to all of the gooseneck trailer hitches that will fit your truck. For a short bed truck, an offset ball, # BWGNXA4085 will provide 4 more inches of clearance. I also recommend adding in-bed wiring, # 20030, to add a 7-Way in the bed of your truck.

  • Will Fifth Wheel Installation Kit Work With 2001 Ford F-150 7700 Series
If you have the standard bed on your 2001 Ford F-150 the Reese Fifth Wheel, part # RP30051 will work well for you. If the frame under the bed has not been changed on the truck the installation rail kit that will work for you is part # RP30035. This is a standard installation kit that includes the rails, brackets and installation hardware. I have attached a product review video for this kit you can check out. If you need 7-way wiring for your fifth wheel I recommend the Draw-Tite Fifth...

  • Which 5th Wheel Base Rails Fit on a 2002 Ford F-150
I recommend using the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50042-58, which will give you industry standard base rails to install a 5th wheel hitch in your 2002 Ford F-150. These are a custom fit bracket kit that will reduce the installation time and required drilling. If you just need the frame brackets then you could use the # RP50042. If you don't already have a 7 way installed or would like to put one in the truck bed for easier...

  • Will an Older Reese Kwik Slide 5th Wheel Hitch Fit in Universal Reese 5th Wheel Rails in 2002 F-150
Yes, the 1998 model Reese Kwik Slide fifth-wheel hitch will work in standard fifth-wheel rails, and the Universal Installation Kit, # RP30035, will work for you. Your hitch is basically just an older version of the Reese Slider Hitch, # RP30051, with a slightly lower capacity rating and possibly wider legs that will install in the outer most slots in the fifth-wheel rails. For your 2002 Ford F-150 with 6-1/2 foot bed, I would recommend using the Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation...

  • Can the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver be Used for Recovery of a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31033 has a line pull strength of 9,000 lbs. Since your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit has a curb weight between 4,725 lbs and 4,955 lbs this hitch can be used for recovery. Typically a winch like part # BDW10042 is used for recovery purposes. If you don't have a winch then you can use a hitch ball with a tow hook like the Curt # C45675 and some recovery straps like part # BDW20030.

  • Is There A Fifth Wheel Option For 1998 Ford F-150 Flare Side?
The stepside or Flareside trucks, like your 1998 Ford F-150, cause issues with fifth wheel trailers because the bed narrower than standard beds which causes clearance issues with the fifth wheel trailers. Most hitch manufacturers do not recommend using their hitches with a flare side truck for this reason. The only option is to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3400-5W and installation kit part # BWGNRK1197-5W. B&W is the only manufacturer that has their...
