Installation

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

The video on the website was awesome on how to install this. The product showed up in great time and I am very happy with it.

The harness is easy to install and works fine. However, it is designed for my truck yet is far too long. I have almost 8 feet too much cable. Moreover, with the Dakota truck design there isn't anywhere to place it or tie it off. I had to rig a spot to the hitch frame but it isn't the best. If you don't care about aesthetics than it is decent.

by:
2007 DodgeDakota

This arrived pretty quickly, was packaged well and was very well made, instructions were simple and it worked great today, the seals at the connections were very good quality and should give years of reliable use, my dakota has a strange wiring harness for the rear lights like none I have ever seen and this harness was hard to find but etrailer had it and for a very reasonable price and fair shipping. Thanks for the excellent quality and availability.

2004 DodgeDakota

I have placed two orders with etrailer and have been very pleased with their service and product quality. I really appreciated viewing their videos on how to install a light kit and trailer hitch on my pickup truck. I recommend etrailer and when my needs warrant it will not hesitate to order whatever I need.

by:

The trailer hitch was complete.. There was no drilling. All i had to do was remove 2 bolts. The instructions
were easy to understand. The hardest part was removing the 2 bolts. I would recommend this product to anyone it only took about 30 minutes to install. Top quality and cheaper than factory.

by:
2006DodgeDakota

Plugs right in, easy 15 min install. No cutting/butt connected wires. I used this connector to run down to a 7 flat trailer plug. Now just install the brake controller and wiring for that and I'm ready to tow my camper. If you don't need a brake controller this wiring would be all you need for a utility or boat trailer with no brakes

by:

Really easy to install and my test light set shows its working perfectly. Heck of a lot easier than trying to track down the break in the wiring in my old harness. Well worth the cost.

by:

It was what I heeded. The electrical connectors were a snug fit and the wires were long enough to reach where they were supposed to go to. Thank you.

by:
2004 DodgeDakota

Trailer hitch and harness installed in under 1 hour.
Delivered on time. Video install guides a plus.
Product performed as described.
very satisfied.

by:

Package was delivered on time, the simplicity of do it your self installation was superb. I will definitely recommend it to anyone who need trailer lighting.

by:

I received it this morning . Hooked it up in about 20 minutes tested it. All good. Directions were not great. Could have been much more detailed about which tail light plug to use. But I had googled it on You tube.

by:
2007 Mitsubishi Raider

Just finished installing and testing. Everything went well and works as expected, install is pretty intuitive and easy. I like the fact that they matched the plugs to the factory specs so things will only plug in one way. I recommend getting some extra wire ties to go around the plugs and keep them tight, especially if one of the factory retaining clips snaps off like mine did.

  • Installing a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2006 Dodge Dakota without Factory Tow Package
For a 2006 Dodge Dakota that does not have the factory tow package you will need to hardwire in a trailer brake controller. The first thing you will need is a 4-Way trailer wiring harness, # 118323. If the truck already has a 4-Way you will not need to add this harness. Next, you will need a 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. This will provide the 7-Way and all of the wiring and accessories to wire in the brake controller. I have included some links that explain the ETBC7 installation...

  • Is there a Bolt-On Hitch Receiver for a 2004 Dodge Dakota to be Able To Carry Bikes
Thanks for sending us a picture. Makes a difference! What I recommend is going with the Curt 2 bike bolt-on rack # C18011 because it will mount to any ball mount or step bumper and can hold 2 bikes with a maximum weight of 70 pounds. Unfortunately the Curt ATV ball mount adapter # C45006 you referenced will not work because it will bend. If you end up going with a trailer hitch, I recommend the Class-III Draw-Tite # 75038 because it has a 500 pound tongue weight capacity and it's a bolt-on...

You are on the right track. We have detailed instructions and wiring diagrams to help you complete the installation of a brake controller and trailer wiring on your 2007 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab Pickup. You will need to start with a 4-Way connector if you do not already have one. The correct harness for your vehicle is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, item # 118323, which plugs inline with your vehicles tail lights (see instructions link). Once this harness is installed you will need a brake...

  • How to Wire up a 7 Pin Connector and Brake Controller on a 2004 Dodge Dakota Without Tow Package
To install a controller in your Dakota, you will need the controller, the # ETBC7 install kit, and a functioning 4-pole trailer connector. If your Dakota does not already have a 4-pole connector, one can be installed by using part # 118323. If you do not already have a brake controller, I would recommend a proportional-type controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The 4-pole to 7-way adapter included in the kit would plug into the 4-pole trailer connector once it is installed....

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch, Wiring, and Ball Mount for Towing with a 2004 Dodge Dakota
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2004 Dodge Dakota is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e53AR because it has a hidden crosstube and a matte black finish which means it will be a bit more durable than the classic glossy black finish you see on the other hitch options. To add basic wiring I recommend the T-One # 118323 which tees in behind your lights for a simple installation. If you're needing to use a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885 then you'll also need to install...

  • How Does Brake Controller Install in 2004 Dodge Dakota
If your 2004 Dodge Dakota has the factory 7-way trailer connector at the rear of it all you need to install the P2 brake controller part # 90885 that you referenced is the part # 3020-P. This plugs into the port under your dash which makes installing the controller very easy. If you don't have a factory 7-way way you will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118323. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can...

  • What is the Difference Between Max Carrying Capacity and Weight Distribution Capacity
Absolutely, I am here to help! The max carrying weight of a hitch is how much the hitch can pull if you were to just hook your trailer up to the hitch and not use a weight distribution system. The Gross Trailer Weight or GTW of this hitch is 5,000 lbs. and the Tongue Weight or TW of this hitch is 500 lbs. The GTW is how much weight the hitch can pull behind it and the tongue weight is the downward force that the tongue of the trailer applies to the hitch of the tow vehicle. So the hitch...

  • Installing an Electric Brake Controller on a 2010 Dodge Dakota
It sounds like you're looking to add an electric brake controller to your 2010 Dodge Dakota. The brake controller I suggest is the Prodigy P3 # 90195. It's one of the most reliable controllers on the market as well as the easiest to use because of the LCD. If your Dakota has a factory 7-way trailer connector already on it then you'll have a connector under the dash that the harness # 3020-P connects to. This is all you'll need to power your trailer's brakes. I've linked this install...

It is very interesting that you found the blue Dodge plug for a brake controller since your 2006 Dodge Dakota doesn't have a factory trailer connector for the trailer lighting.
