Video Transcript for Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - C56031 Review

Today we are going to be taking a look at part number C56031. This is the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness with a 4 pull flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years and models of the Ford F150. What you can do is you can use our vehicle fit guide located on our website at etrailer.com. You can enter in your year, make, and model of vehicle and see if this is a fit for your particular vehicle, or not. It's going to provide a 4 way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle, to power your trailer signal lights. The unit is compatible with 5 pull, 6 pull, and 7 pull adapters.

Adapters are sold separately. It's going to come with a dust cap, that way you can cover up the connection points when the plug is not being used. Another benefit of a system like this, other than providing your 4 way flat at the back of the vehicle, is that it's designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any wires. All you have to do is locate the connection points behind the rear bumper, plug in your T connectors, that's all there is to it. Then just secure any excess wires with the included zip ties. Now, once your install is complete, the 4 way connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle, near the trailer hitch.

We do recommend using a mounting bracket, that is sold separately, but that's going to help keep the connector secure, or you can loop it around the safety chain loop of the hitch. It's also recommended that you use a small amount if dielectric grease on all your electric connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the 4 pull connector itself, to help prevent corrosion. That grease is sold separately, but we do carry it here at etrailer.com, so if you need some you can pick some up. That's going to do it for today's review of part number C56031.

Curt 56031 for a 2000 Ford F-150. Old factory connector was corroded and beyond repair. Ordered late Monday night with 2 day shipping. Received midday Thursday . Took less than 5 minutes including cleaning my old plug off. Plugged in and zipped tied in place. Plugged trailer connector and had lights. Best money spent even with two day shipping cost. Left for the Outer Banks with boat on Friday. Hint- Used photo of my connector ends and matched to the Curt 4 way plug in photo. 291049

The product did everything it was supposed to do and was very easy to install on my F150. My existing factory installed harness left turn signal stopped working on my trailer; the problem was isolated to be the truck harness so I ordered this product. The only issue I have is minor; I wish the connector would fit in the factory installed bracket instead of swinging loose. 468005

I bought this product to run a hitch brake light or a led light bar under my tailgate. I currently am running a hitch light. Even though it says it is for trucks without factor hoolups it plugs right in to my truck with factory 7 way. The only problem I have is the wires are so long I ran them close to the hitch and then had to zip tie a least 1ft and a half of wire toghter. 229168

This was easy to install and youtube has a good video of how to do it. The only drawback is that it does not come with a connection to the trailer hitch. I guess they just want it to be dangling beneath the truck. I went to NAPA and got one for about $5 the added a couple nuts and bolts to finish the installation. This is so much easier than splicing wires. 176982

I ordered in-line trailer electrical kit for my 2000 F150. After attempting to get the spliced lights to work for the umpteenth time, this kit worked awesome the 1st time. Unplugged the factory plugs, plugged this in and away I went. PLUS the kit had a really long lead which is always nice. Much better than anything I could find local ...and those didn't fit. 150737

If you wish to upgrade from a 4-way to a 7-way, then you will want the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 and after connecting...

On your 2006 Ford F-150, if you don't have the factory 7-way then you can use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56031 to run your LED light bar. • Will Trailer Wiring Harness 20028 Fit a 1998 Ford F-150 without Factory Trailer Connector
To solve the problem of the dirty connections you can clean them, then use dielectric grease at the connections, # 11755, and then seal everything up using liquid electrical tape, # SWC50122. Another option is to replace the 4-Way you are using with either # C56031 for a non-stepside bed or # C55344 for a stepside bed. These connectors actually plug in line with the tail light wiring so you will not have to use quick splice connectors.
