Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Express van, we'll be install the Hopkins Multi-Tow 7-way and 4-way trailer connector for vans with factory 7-way, part number 30955. Now this adapter here will allow us to hook up to 7-way trailers, so we will be able to use trailer brakes, reverse lights, everything on our trailer that it may have. We also have our standard 4 pole flat here for when we're towing trailers that have less basic features, and just have standard running lights, and turn signals, and brake lights. We have these nice dust covers to help keep our connectors free of moisture, dirt, and corrosion. Now that we've gone over some of the features of our Hopkins connector here, we'll go ahead and show you how to install it. We can grab our factory wiring which is tucked up under the frame a little bit on the left side of the vehicle, and pull it on down. Normally, there's supposed to be a protective cover over here that you remove before you make your connection, but our van had already had a tow package on it at some point in time, and it was removed before the new owner got it. Now we'll drop our wiring through the included bracket like so. We'll line it up in position, and we're going to take a paint marker here, and mark where our holes are going to be in our bumper, where we're going to secure this to, first.
We'll raise it up into position, about where we want it, making sure we have enough slack to connect our connectors together. Try to make sure it's squared off as possible and still somewhat flush with the bumper, right about there. Take our paint marker here. We'll mark our holes that we're going to drill. Perfect. Take our drill here and drill a small pilot hole.
We're going the step up in size through our drill bits until we reach the final size that we're going to use for our bolts to fit through. All right. We'll take our bracket, our included screw with the large, flat washer and push on up. We'll take one of the lock washers that's provided, reach up from behind the bumper, we'll drop it on, and then we'll secure it with the nut that's provided. We'll do the same for the other hole.
Now we'll grab a wrench to hold the nut in place, and we'll tighten the screw fully with the screwdriver. Now we'll take our connector that will plug into the vehicle end, slide it in and over our hitch, here, and install our connector to the bracket with the included screws, and the included lock nut. We get these all started by hand. Now we'll take a wrench on the back side to hold the nut in place, and we'll tighten the screw down with a screwdriver. Okay. Now we'll take some electrical contact grease, dielectric grease, if you would, put some on our connector here.
Then we'll connect our two harnesses together until they click into place. Pull back on it to make sure it's secure, and that completes our installation. H Here's a little technology tip for you. If you push the excess wiring back into the frame channel over here, you can secure it with a zip tie. This will just help to keep the wires from dangling down. They'll be out of sight for when you're behind your vehicle. You won't have to look at them. We'll cut off the excess of our zip tie. We'll test all of our connections to make sure they're working. We'll take our 7 pin trailer tester here, I'll plug it in. All right, with our headlights on in our van, you can see that we have working clearance lights marked on our trailer tester there. I'll do a left turn signal, now. I'll do a right turn signal. When I step on the brakes, both the left and right turn signal/brake lights will illuminate. I'll stick in reverse, and the reverse lights should come on, too. Now our 7-way connector on the back of our van is functioning properly. That completes our installation of the Hopkins 7-way and 4-way Trailer Connectors for vans with a factory two package, part number 30955, on our 2015 Chevrolet Express van.
Was what I ordered and installed great
Quick easy install !!! Great product !!!!
WORK GOOD, FIT RIGHT UP, THANKS. IT DIDN`T TAKE CARE OF THE PROMBLE.
Just the right part replacement I needed. Very fast email shipping notice and good delivery time.
Great product, timely shipping and I was followed up with via email after the product was delivered. Couldn't have chosen a better place to purchase from!
Plug did not snap into vehicle outlet as tight as I would like, but overall works fine.
Excellent, direct OEM replacement for my 2001 Chevy Silverado, at a very reasonable price. Product arrived at my home within 3 business days of ordering. Nice job E-trailer !!!!
Perfect fit and excellentThe wiring harness was exactly the part I was looking for. It was well built and very easy to install.
Connection was spot on and seems decent quality. Very easy install. Only two things I wish were better would be if the wires came wrapped and the bracket was a slightly heavier gauge steele.
Product is ok, I was hoping for something a little more durable, seems cheap. I guess we will find out
no issues with the install, connector on the part matched the plug for my o.e.m. trailer wiring harness, all trailer light worked as they should.
Great fit works good has 7way rv plug and the regular flat 4 plug no need for adapters to lose or have stolen.
Works great!!! Thanks....

Still working great. Thanks for a great product...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver was easy to install and has worked just fine in pulling my several trailers. For the price, an excellent deal. The 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Connector by Hopkins was a disappointment because the cap that doubles as a dust cover and latch to the adapter has come off and missing after a few months. This cap is not replaceable, the whole connector would have to be replaced.
Perfect! I used this on a single cab Chevy Silverado 1500. Plugged into factory trailer lights near spare tire, mounted it up, plugged in trailer and everything worked just like it should. My truck does not have a spare tire so I removed the spare tire keyhole mount and cut some of the bumper to fit the adapter. My truck did not require a ECM/PCM flash of any kind, although I hear some vehicles may have to.
etrailer had what we needed. At times it is not easy locating accessory parts on vehicles not factory installed. Easy to navigate site to find and compare the exact parts we were looking for.
I installed this today. Took around 90 minutes but part of that was learning how to get the spare out of the way. I drilled two holes in the bottom of the bumper because of where I wanted the connector to be placed. All necessary hardware came with the unit. This was very easy to do after watching etrailer's How To video. Good job guys, great product.
in my case I have to say that first look at YouTube from there I got the video with the description of the process and the number of the part of there just went to etrailer.com I put the # alone went out it was really easy to send fantastic just wait 4 days in regular shipment for the installed only you see that plug it in thank you I hope that some more will serve..
Nice product ,Easy to install and then worked as supposed to . I installed in bumper as opposed to the add on bracket that came with it ,made for a easier way to plug in trailer cord.
Like the website very user friendly
Cathy T. was very good help. She set me up with the correct parts for our 2001 Chevy so we can have a 7 prong plug in at the bumper and in the box.
We got rid of the cobbled up mess that started giving us trouble and now everything works great. The plug and play took me about 1 1/2 hours to complete. We will do business again if needed. Thanks again Cathy T. and etrailer!
I bought this 7 way trailer connector to replace a broken one on my 2006 Chevy 2500HD. It was an easy install and only took a few minutes to complete. I tested it with my trailer connected and all works fine.
The shipping was super fast.
Thanks , etrailer.
The product was an exact one-for-one replacement. However, I ended up having to replace the female connector due to corrosion. This took a bit of time. The result was all new connections that work fine. Thanks for all your assistance.
Fast delivery. Kim is awesome!!!
