Video Transcript for Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Hi there, Ford owners. On your 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Bargman's in-bed wiring connector. And this is what our connector looks like when it's installed. It is mounted here in the bed of our truck which relocates a connector inside the bed. So that way for your gooseneck and 5th wheel trailers, you've got a much easier way to plug in your wiring, 'cause oftentimes on those trailers the wiring's not quite long enough to hang over the edge of the tailgate and plug into your bumper connector. This doesn't replace the bumper connector, that one's still there.

This will plug into two connectors that are located down below that are just extra connectors that are down there for an additional harness like this, so we utilize those connectors here. Bargman's got custom fit ends on it that plug directly into your factory connectors on your truck and they provide you with your connector here that has a nice 90 degree bend on it that'll make it easy to feed it down the side wall on your truck. We put ours right here on the driver's side. This is kind of the most common place we like to mount them. It's pretty easy to access.

You can reach over the side of the tailgate to flip it up and plug your trailer in. The cover here on the front of our connector is nicely labeled. It tells you what each pin does and the connector end is spring loaded as well. So when you're not using it, it'll spring it back shut to keep out dirt, debris, and moisture. There's a rubber seal on the inside to ensure that it does keep out that moisture.

We'll begin our installation here at the back of the truck. We've got our tailgate open, we're right here on the driver's side, and this is kind of our intended location where we're gonna planning on installing it. Now you're not limited to that location. This is what our connector looks like here. It's got that spring-loaded door with the 90 degree attachment on it.

And I like the Bargman ones because of that 90 degree. It minimizes the depth that our wiring has, because once you cut a hole anywhere in here, wherever you're planning on putting it, it needs to be able to fit into this location without contacting the outer fender there 'cause you don't wanna damage your fender or bulge it out or anything. The Bargmans also do come with a little spacer plate so you could space it out some, if it is a little bit too shallow in the location you're wanting to put it. You do get a, it's about the width here of the face right there, so you can space it out a little. We're gonna put it in this spot 'cause I know there's enough area here. If you hop down underneath and just look straight up, you can kind of assess how wide the cavities are between your inner wall and your outer fender is there. And you also wanna just verify that there's no bracketry or anything that's in that location, so when you drill your hole you don't find out that there's an obstruction there that won't let your wiring go in place. We've already checked it, and this whole kind of square area right here is all nice and open, so we're gonna be putting it pretty much right in the center of it. To get it in place, we are gonna have to use a hole saw here to drill up the hole for our wiring. We've got a 2 inch hole saw here and that's what it calls for in the instructions, is 2 inch, but we're actually using a 2 1/8 inch. And I recommend using that 2 1/8 inch. It's slightly larger than what the instructions say, but it's gonna make it a whole lot easier to feed your wiring in, in that little bit extra hole and the extra 1/8 inch there is not gonna be enough to where you're ever gonna see any piece of that hole. This face here on our connector's gonna cover it up and you'll still have plenty of area left to mount your screws. So we're gonna just kind of pick it right in the center there, that's a pretty good spot. That way, we're kind of far enough away, too, from that tie-down point, keep you kind of out of the way of that. And now, after we've gone through the first little hole there, when we go to drill through the rest of this, we're gonna be very careful with the amount of pressure we're putting on it, 'cause we don't want to continue through this hole and ding our outer fender by pushing too hard. So just kinda keep moderate pressure on it and just try to stay in control. So that way, once you cut the hole, you don't just force it on through. Just like that. We didn't ding out the intersection there. We stopped right away, got our hole out of there. So now we'll grab our vacuum, clean up our mess here. And we're gonna also coat this with some clear coating to prevent corrosion. Now that we've got everything cleaned up and sealed, we can feed our wiring into place. I'm just gonna kind of uncoil it a little bit just to make it feed down there a little bit smoother. And we're just gonna poke our connectors through the hole. That little bit of an 1/8 of an inch makes it a little bit easier. You can pass both connectors at the same time versus a single connector and then trying to feed the other one through. And then we're just gently feeding our wiring all the way down to our connector and then just kind of poke it in there. And then we'll grab the hardware that comes in our kit. These are self-tapping screws, and these are gonna be of the stainless steel variety, since this is an aluminum truck bed, you wanna make sure you're using the appropriate metal screw so it doesn't cause any corrosion. If you just use your regular self-tappers into aluminum, you'll typically get some kind of corrosion that occurs there because of the dissimilar metals. So these ones are designed to work with your Ford truck bed. We'll use an 8 millimeter socket to run them in place and we're just gonna hold our connector up there now, just kind of relatively where we want it. It doesn't need to be perfectly level at this point, but we wanna try to get it relatively level. We can adjust it by pivoting it on this first screw here trying to hold it roughly level, get this one end. All right, so we've got that one in and we can still kind of rotate it a little bit here, you can see with just the one screw in it. So now we're just gonna rotate it until we look like we're level. I always like to use like body lines try to make sure we got roughly the same gap and stuff, 'cause if you're just actually using a level if you're not perfectly on level surface or if you're sitting here in the back of your truck, you can throw that off. So I would definitely recommend just comparing it to other body panels. And that looks pretty good right there. That seems pretty straight up and down. So now we're just gonna run in another screw. And at that point now we've got it fully secured. You can back 'em out and loosen it just a little bit and get a little shimmy out of it. But for the most part, you've got your position set there and this looks pretty good right there. That looks pretty straight up and down. So we're just gonna run in the rest of our screws. So we're now just down underneath the truck on the driver's side here, this is your hitch right here and on the inside of your, kind of the weldings for your hitch for the frame support of it, you'll find your connectors for your in-bed wiring. So they do have plugs in them. We just pull these plugs out. There's no wiring that comes out of the plug. So just press it on your release tab and pull that out of there. We're also gonna do the same with this one. You can save those plugs for if you ever take the wiring off, but there's really no reason to ever take it off, but you can always throw those in your glove box. Our new connectors here that came out of our wiring that we just kind of fed down, we plug right into these, so just match them up. There's two prongs on this one, so it goes to the two-prong female in there, and then our six-pin connector will go into the other one there. And at this point, really, that's pretty much the installation. We'll take our wiring here and we'll kind of coil it up and we'll use some cable ties to secure it so it doesn't hang down and that's basically it from there. So now we've got everything all hooked up. We've gone ahead and plugged our tester in here at the back and I'm sitting in the truck and I'm gonna run through all my lighting circuits to make sure everything's working properly. You can see our left turn, right turn, tail lamps, and brake lamps. Those are all working properly. Also gonna hit the manual slide on our brake controller and the gauge in the top right, you'll see that go up. And then we're gonna hit the switch in the middle of our tester there. And then if I start the truck you'll see the charge line circuit go up. It's the same gauge that we we're looking at a minute ago, but the switch turns it into that charge line. So you do have to start the truck in order to activate this. It does depend on the trailer you got connected. Your vehicle needs to see that a trailer is connected to give you that output. All right, after we started the truck, you saw the gauge shoot up there, showing our charge line's working as well. And that completes our installation of Bargman's in-bed wiring connector on our 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty..

Bargman 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness - 7 Way RV - 7' Long - 54701-007

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (50 Customer Reviews)

Mount this connector in your truck bed to hook up your 5th-wheel or gooseneck trailer. Custom harness plugs in-line with factory wiring. 90-Degree connector fits into tight spaces. Mounting bracket and stainless steel screws included.

I originally ordered a Tow Ready 5th Wheel Harness, but was told it was out of stock and eTrailer recommended this Bargman as a replacement. The Bargmen harness listing specifically states this will connect into my 2017 F250 harness. When I was unable to find the connectors, I called customer support and was told that from what she was reading, my truck has the two connectors on the inside of the drivers side frame right behind the wheel. Pretty specific. The pics are of that area. There are no two such connectors. My CS person said, "Sorry", and the call ended.

Thank you for reaching back out. Our customer service team should be getting in touch with you soon.

2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Install was easy to install on my 2016 Ford F250. Once plug was screwed down to the bed side wall it was plug and play. Tested the plug on 5th and all the lights on camper worked as they should. All though not needed, I did use the spacer that was included. This plug will be more convenient then running the cord over the tail gate down to the bumper plug. Very happy with purchase.

2016 Ford F-450 Super Duty

I had a short in my Trailer wiring on my 2016 Ford F450 pickup. I was able to narrow down the cause of the issue to the pickup bed trailer wire harness. I went on line and etrailer had the several wiring harness replacements. I unfortunately ordered the wrong part (my fault) but I quickly returned the item and reordered the correct part. Customer service was outstanding and communicated with me via email to answer any questions. I would definitely recommend etrailer for your trailer needs.

For being a product specific for my vehicle, the harness is about two feet too long. Otherwise as advertised and fits factory harness.

I checked and the seven foot option is the shortest option for the 5th wheel truck bed harness for the 2019 F250 Super Duty .

  • Should I Get A 20k Or 25k B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch For My 2022 Ford F-350 Long Bed With Pucks?
Though the 20k B&W Companion # BWRVK3300 will snap right into the pucks in the bed of your 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty, it will indeed limit you a little. For a great aftermarket puck system for your 2021 Ford F-250 Super Duty with an 8-foot bed, I recommend the Under-Bed Rail and Installation Kit for Reese Elite Series 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP87FR. With this vehicle-specific model, the Reese system involves shorter installation time and less drilling required than universal systems. All installation hardware is included with this part. If you are in need of a 5th-wheel hitch itself, I recommend the B&W Companion Hitch # BWRVK3300....
