Video Transcript for Truma Single Zone Electric Cooler Review

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline right here at etrailer and today we're gonna be looking at something pretty interesting. These are gonna be the Truma coolers. So I have three coolers here today. We got the C30, which is the smallest one, the C44 and the C60. So Truma uses liters for their measurements and their naming. Here at etrailer, we are gonna be using quartz rounded up just to match how everyone else talks in the overlanding world but we're also gonna do a deep dive into specs and measurements.

So the C30 has 32 quarts of storage. So you have this ledge here because that's where the compressor is. This is gonna be the basement. You can put the basket on top of it for your other items. You can move this upwards if you have your taller items but for 32 quartz you can fit 32 cans.

So my personal favorite for different adventures is the C44. That's because this is the middle of the road. It has the similar layout to the C30 but a good amount more room. So here we have our two liter jugs on the bottom. We have our cans up top.

So this one can fit up to 65 12 ounce cans. And now we have the C60. So this one has 64 quarts of space that can fit up to 96 cans. A lot more space in here for food and ingredients but this also makes for a bigger and bulkier cooler. You also may have noticed that this looks a little different compared to the others and that's because we have the Truma cover around it.

I do like the cover. It does make for a nice look, pads things up. Now there are different covers for the different coolers. If you're interested in those, check them out here at etrailer. So that was a quick look at the different sizes. Definitely check out our product page for specifics when it comes to the measurements of those. Now for the general features of how the Truma cooler works, we're gonna focus here on the C44. So these do not have their own battery on the inside. You do have to have them plugged in in order to refrigerate whatever's inside. And you have two options for that. You can plug it into a 12 volt outlet or you can plug it into shore power. I always recommend using shore power if possible but it is nice to have that option. So we have it plugged in and we started 30 minutes ago at 65 degrees and it's gone down to about 35 degrees in just about 30 minutes. Now I did have it on turbo mode, which helps out with that but you can cycle through as needed. Going through the control panel, you have the settings button. So let's go over to where it says F where we can change it from Fahrenheit over to Celsius and back again for our readout. Continuing to cycle through, we also have the option to adjust our battery protection setting. So there's low battery protection, medium and then there's high. So there's certain voltages where you would want to prefer low, medium, and then high, you can go into that. Or the way I do it is when I do use coolers like this and I go car camping, I would have it on high battery protection just to protect my battery and making sure that that connection is good. When I have it connected into shore power I usually go down to the low setting. That's a general rule of thumb. You can go into it if you want to. At the bottom you have this emergency override and normal use switch. So during normal use have it all the way over there, but if for some reason your app or the control panel doesn't work and you can't switch things around, you can move it over to emergency override. What that does is it has the cooler run at its highest setting full power. Don't keep it on here 'cause your cooler may freeze. Once you figure things out, go back to normal use. Some other ports down here, you have the USB plug where you can charge your phone as this cools. You also have the 12 volt plug and this is gonna be used if you wanna connect to your 12 volt outlet. That plug is included. So for your power options you have the AC as well as the DC plug. So for your included cords, we have our DC cord and this is gonna be 81" long. I measure plug to plug. For the AC, which is what's currently plugged in that's going to be 72" or six feet long. So not as much in terms of the length. That is something to consider when plugging things in and where you put your cooler. The good news is for your DC port, you actually have another plug right on the other side of your cooler. So you can plug in the front or in the back which should give you a little extra option. So here are the corners. You can see how we have the vents for the compressor. As much as possible, keep them free from debris and unobstructed. That way your compressor can work as it should. This is also why you should get the compatible liner because those have ventilation there. Now, with this, you should put it on a stable surface but I know some places have a little bit of an incline and that's okay. This can sit at an incline of up to 30 degrees. Now the downside to that is you're probably gonna hear a lot more noise. This is really quiet even on turbo. If you notice that you're cooler is sounding a little noisy, double check that's on a stable surface and not an incline. So fun fact, this was actually designed for the Australian Outback. So they have different features here that makes it strong and durable and rugged to hold up to the elements and use. So some of those features are that the lid as well as the size are steel reinforced. You also have reinforced corners there to protect the interior of your cooler. These are easy to grab handles, although they also pivot back very quickly, not where it's gonna hurt you but might catch you off guard if you're not ready. So we have this rubberized textured surface up top and that's not just there for looks. It's there to make sure that your things don't slide around. So you can see this, how it slides on your surfaces. Once it's up there it stays. So not as much as an indented cup holder but very helpful and a bit more versatile. So for your smaller sizes you have that easy to use lid. Now this does open up from the front so you can load your items lengthwise. Your larger coolers are going to open up from this side. Now with this being bulkier, you don't wanna be moving this around. So the good news is you can actually lift the lid off of the cooler, switch it around to the other side and just make things a bit more accessible for you. Opening up the cooler, you do have a light that turns on and this is to illuminate whatever's inside. That way you could grabbing something in the dark you can see what drink you're getting. So these have baskets on the inside. Now you get two baskets, one for the basement one for the top shelf. So not only does this help out with organization, I recommend loading up the basket as you see fit while it's at your counter or in your house and then dropping them into your cooler when you're ready to go. This also helps with airflow. So since everything's not smushed together your compressor has time to work, airflow to work and keeps things cold better. So this is great when it comes to organization, but again you are limited to either refrigeration or to freezing. If you like the dual zone aspect but you want a smaller cooler like this, check out the Everchill cooler. That might work out better for that specific situation. Now for cleaning out your cooler since you don't have to deal with ice, it should be easier than your regular cooler, but they also have these grooves on the inside to help out with that. I recommend just taking a rag and just wiping off your surfaces. And as you cool things down, you also have this drain hole. So if you have any water, you can just let that drain through and then make sure to let that dry out before adding your other items. So inside the basket you do have this hinge door. So if you wanna stack things lengthwise or maybe for your taller items if you wanna place them like that, you can do so. Now for taller items, you actually have 2" of extra height because of the indentation on the lid. So it makes it a little bit more forgiving when it comes to stacking things up. So there's also an option to use the Truma cooler app to connect to your cooler and it is good if you don't wanna be crawling back into the back of your cart or truck to just adjust the settings. So the way to do it is you do get the Truma cooler app and then you can access it via Bluetooth or scanning the code in the back of the cooler to connect to that specific one. So for your smaller single zone coolers, this is the C30 but also for the C44 and even maybe the C60 they are a bit more portable than the dual zone coolers. So that way they don't take up as much space and they're not as heavy. You're still able to move them around and put them more easily into your truck bed, your vehicle, or your camper. Now while it does have some space conservation features like the handles that flip down, you really just need to be concerned about the box shape. Other coolers do have more portable features like some have wheels, some have longer handles. You can cart those around. These are more of just set it into place and pretty much forget about it. Only move it when you're ready to hit the road again. So hopefully this video helped you out with seeing if the Truma cooler is the right one for you. So whichever size you get, they're all gonna be rugged, sturdy and capable of cooling things down real quick. Now the question is, which one is right for you So if you're car camping, maybe tailgating with a couple friends or you're going on a quick weekend trip definitely take a look at our smaller sizes. Now for your all around versatility, maybe you're tailgating with a bunch of friends or you're taking a longer trip, the C44 is the way to go. if you're going boating and you have all your friends, all your families for your little vacation we do have those larger sizes that can carry all of the ingredients and all of the food for all of you. So this was a look at the single zone series for the Truma coolers of different shapes and different sizes. If you want that next level and you like a dual zone style instead, check out our videos for that. But right here, right now, hopefully this helped you out. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed the journey..
