Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Sport Rack Sports Gear Cargo Straps, 9 feet in length, red in color, rated at 700 lbs, part number Sr0700. We'll go ahead and take it out on our test course to show you how the straps perform. These Sport Rack tie downs have a wide variety of applications. They can be used to secure gear in your hitch-mounted or roof-mounted cargo carrier, or maybe secure a kayak or small boat on the roof of your vehicle. They have a nice stainless steel sturdy cam buckle here. This is what you would insert the end of the strap through the buckle and pull tight. It has this nice vinyl pad here.
If this buckle happens to rest on maybe a painted surface in your vehicle or maybe some painted surface of gear that you're hauling around, or the application that we have set up for today, if by chance that you have a kayak or a small boat, maybe of fiberglass or any other sensitive materials, this special pad is designed to prevent any scratches, maybe some dings or dents, deep gouges that this buckle could cause when you cinch the strap down. The strap itself is 1" wide by 9 feet long. It has a 700 lb break strength. It has these specially woven fibers for increased strength and durability. Both straps do come with this part number, giving you the ability to tie it on multiple items. How these straps work is basically they're designed to loop around something, or loop and come back around to itself. You'll notice they don't have any hooks or any type of caraveener 01:50, so basically what you would do is take this around your gear, take this around your basket or kayak, loop it back around, go through the buckle, and pull it tight. Now we have this kayak here set up behind us.
We'll go ahead and show you how to secure it. We'll go ahead and climb up and access the roof of the vehicle. You can see we've got our kayak all loaded up. We already have the bow and stern secured, which is recommended when loading up the kayak. We'll simply take these straps and how we're going to loop this around, we'll go from the back side, going to go over there and throw that strap around. At the other side, we're going to take this strap and actually loop it under the bar and then go back over the top of the kayak.
We want to make sure both ends are at the top. Then we're going to repeat that process for that other side. When you're bringing that strap around the underside of the bar, you want to make sure it's on the inside of the foot ore tower so that the strap doesn't accidentally slip off the bar and your kayak goes floating down the highway. Then we'll bring the strap back around and push in this little silver tab here at the top of the buckle. We'll insert the end of this strap through the little slot of that leather vinyl, then insert the end into the buckle.
Basically we'll just pull it tight. Then we'll just go ahead and secure the excess strap. You can see that this vinyl pad is directly. the entire surface of the buckle is being protected by that vinyl pad protecting the surface of our kayak. You can see this strap is 9 feet long, and we are getting kind of the end of the strap here, sort of pinning on how wide the whole of your kayak is. You may need to purchase a longer length of strap. Then we'll go ahead and repeat the same process for our other cross bar. The straps have a break strength of 700 lbs, but when the strap is looped, the break strength increases to 1400 lbs, add a working load limit of 233 lbs, and they come with a limited lifetime warranty. Now that we've got our kayak all loaded up, we'll go ahead and take it on our test course to show you how the straps perform. That'll complete today's review of the Sport Rack Sports Gear Cargo Straps. 9 feet in length, red in color, part number Sr0700. .

It does the job holding my ladder in place on my roof rack. However it is a bit annoying to have to wrap it around as opposed to something which clamps down on the load. Also the straps fray making it difficult to put through the metal clasp. 543724

Great product and extremely fast service! Thank you guys! 730438
Strap is good. Latches are okay. Looks like it would rust if exposed to the elements. 723245
These are good for short haul and light weights such as securing a tarp over something you're hauling. I would not use them for securing heavy objects in my pickup truck. For light duty, they're worth the price. 450219

Worked well for a trip with a cargo car topper. Ran it from San Diego to Canada and back, no problem. If you want to stop the strap from whistling in the wind, simply make sure it has a twist or two in the strap before securing, this will eliminate the windy whistling sound. This product perform well for a 30 day expedition, on the car 24 hours a day with multiple weather patterns etc. No issues at all 300751

My main point in this review is to say what amazing customer service and help I got over the phone. You rarely get someone that is both nice and knowledgeable about a product online. I highly recommend 678267

I ordered these straps to hold a LCD TV in my camper when traveling. They look great but will not use them for some time as I am waiting for trailer to come from the dealer. 497923

Good for light duty, such as securing a tarp around whatever I've carrying in the back of my truck. I wouldn't trust them to tie down heavy loads. They are worth the money for light duty. 450220

I used this to tie down some cargo in the back of my pickup, and when I got to my destination (about 350 miles), it was already frayed in several spots. When I checked the specs on the straps, I realized I hadn't ordered ones strong enough for what I wanted. They are great for short distances and lighter weight, and I've used them several times for that. 450217

Honestly I added these items to my order just to bump it up to get the free shipping. However, I have found these straps to be quite handy several times when tying down various odd sized loads in my pickup. I might even get another pair for my brother-in-law! 372872
