Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Glacier Ratcheting Load Binder, designed for use with 3/8 to 1/2 inch chain, offering a 9,200-pound safe working load limit. Part number is P03812RB. Now the need for a load binder typically comes from situations very similar to this. Either we've got a piece of equipment we wanna secure down to a trailer or need kind of agricultural use, things along that line. What it allows us to do is bind the chain. So that means we can reduce the length of our chain using our mechanical lever here.

It makes it a lot easier, especially easier than the chain binders that used to cam over. Those we're dangerous most of the time.The binder allows us to take a slack chain, make our connections, and then tighten it up very quickly. See there Nice and secure. We've got a 14-inch long handle. We've got plenty of leverage there.

It's designed to act like a pipe wrench. Now the ratcheting mechanism will also work both directions. So this would be to loosen. You can see our button right here, just a cam. It's gonna flip one way or the other.

Flip that over to the other direction, and then that allows us to tighten it.Now our binder's gonna offer about seven to eight inches of binding capability, fully extended from the inside of the hook to the inside of the hook. We're gonna have about 31 inches. Fully retracted, we're gonna have about 23. Then as you can see, the construction's nice. We've got heavy duty hooks, links, the screw that's gonna go into the mechanism that draws it closer or further away.

That's an Acme style screw, so it's not a tapered screw. It's gonna have that nice, flat finish to it. It should work out really, really well. The high-visibility powder coat finish is always gonna help us out in those low visibility situations. We should be able to find it. I would say the powder coat finish on it is just of average quality. I would expect it to probably chip and crack over time.Now to operate our binder, of course, we're just gonna take our hooks, sort of bring that right around the link in our chain, and we'll do that on each end. Once we've got that hooked, you just wanna stop operating the binder. You can see the long arm gives us plenty of leverage to get our binder nice and tight.
