Video Transcript for Rightline Truck Bed Cargo Net with Integrated Tarp Review

Zach: Hey guys, Zach here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rightline Gear Weatherproof Cargo Net.This is going to be a bungee style cargo net and it's going to have an integrated tarp, so this is going to be really good at providing some light duty coverage when it comes to securing your items. This is not going to replace ratchet straps. If you've got any kind of heavy load, we highly recommend using ratchet straps. I'm moving some boxes that hardly have anything in them today, and this is going to do a good job of keeping those secure. If I use a ratchet strap, I'd probably crush those boxes since there's nothing with much structure in them, so this is going to be a really nice application for this. The tarp will do a good job of keeping some water off of it.

I don't think it's going to be completely weatherproof. If there was a downpour on this all day, this is fairly thin. Even my nice rain jacket that has a coating on it, it still, after a while, water kind of gets through. It's going to get damp, and it's not fully enclosed, so water is going to get in underneath your bed. So if you've got anything that's highly sensitive, this is just going to do a good job of getting you from point A to point B.

I wouldn't let it sit out for very long. What I like about it though is it's kind of universal. We've got it on a smaller Ford Ranger today, but with it being 10 by 8, it's going to do a good job of fitting most truck beds. I also like that I can throw this on my trailer. I've got a small utility trailer hooked up too, and I can show you here in a little bit how we're going to get some of that stuff covered up. But overall we can take a closer look at how all of this stuff is attached and how everything is held in place.Look right here.

I do like how on these bungees, where they make their connections to create that net, they've got a rubber coating on there, so I think that's going to do a good job because that's a lot of times where some stress is going to be when you're wrapping it around stuff. I kind of like that. The bungees got decent stretch to them. With this weird load, I've got a couple that are a little loose, but you can see they do a pretty good job of getting over stuff. Got these nice seams right here where they're kind of holding them down to that tarp. It's something I'm not a huge fan of, and a couple of customers have voiced complaints too, is this tarp is a little thinner than I thought.

It's kind of plasticky feeling. It's definitely not like those tarps you're used to using around the house, which is what I've used in the past is just taking the tarp and putting ratchet straps over it if I needed to protect something. But it's light, it's going to be able to fold in on itself, and it's definitely going to protect your stuff from any road dirt and grime going down the road, dust, but also just a little bit of light rain too.And a really cool thing about this one is you don't have to go searching for a tarp and a bunch of straps. It's all in one, because we showed you how it's sewn together there. So I'm going to take this off and I'm going to show you how quick and easy it is to roll this up and just store it underneath a seat or something.I like this cause I can easily take this off. It's all together, and it's pretty big, so it's going to take a little bit of effort to get this rolled up neatly, but I would just start with it as flat as possible. You can just fold it back into itself. Now when you're doing this, I would definitely, if it was wet, I would let it dry off before you put this back in so it doesn't get all moldy when you're not using it. There's a little bit of wiggle room. It doesn't have to be exactly the way it came from the factory when you fold it back, fold it back up. Excuse me. Now it'll just go back in this little stuff sack. I'm going to get that drawstring tightened up. You can see, it's not the smallest in the world, but considering how wide the tarp is, 10 by 8, and I think that it being thin, a plus to that is that it can kind of fold down like this. If you had another tarp, those things are thicker and they're going to have a little bit bigger footprint. So I like that I can just toss this into the back of the truck. I don't have any worries about knowing where my stuff's at next time I need to get to it.First thing we'll do is we'll take this out of its storage bag. I want to unroll all this all the way. And what we can do is we can take the one side and start making our way across the truck here. With this Ranger, it's a pretty small bed, but it's going to fit most truck beds. May run into some issues with some of your larger trucks with the long beds. I'm going to get it held in place over here on those stake pockets. I can just make sure it's even all the way around, and we will tuck some of this down in here to protect those boxes that we're moving. You don't want the boxes getting wet. Pretty nice day today, but if we're not going to be able to get to this and a storm comes through, it'd be nice to have those protected. On the other side, I was hooking it to the stake pocket here, but we've got a hook on the inside here. It's going to be really hard to see because it's kind of tucked up back behind the bed liner, but I'm going to hook mine there. I'll bring that one up front. And I think I actually like those hooks better, so I'm going to adjust that and do the same thing on the other side, and then we can just make our way around and tuck in our tarp here. This is going to do a really nice job of keeping some water off of it. If it's got real bad, water will eventually kind of seep underneath, but this is going to do a good job of getting that water off the top of our stuff there. And like that customer that moved some stuff to a different state, you stop and take a break and run into the gas station or something, it's going to keep prying eyes off your stuff too.Now that I have all four of the corners secured down with those hooks, you can see it's still a little loose here. It is a small truck. If this was a full-sized truck, I think it would be pretty tight. The directions mentioned an orange bungee, but we don't have one on here today. It's just the same thing. It's just black. So you can take these hooks and you can work your way around those and you can just secure them however you need to get those tight, so they just slide on through the backside of the hook like that. And you can just find different spots on your truck. Now you might run into some issues here trying to find one. You can just pull it a little bit tighter and hook it under there. And we originally had a tonneau cover on this a while ago. Let's just hook it right there. And we're just going to work our way around and find different spots that we can attach this to.You can see I'm going to have to utilize those stake pockets, and that plastic piece rubbing against that bare paint, that might create some issues. I don't know if you'd be a fan of that or not. If you have the side rail caps on there, that'd be really nice. But we are going to go ahead and do that today. We're just going to work our way around and that'll provide a little bit snugger fit. I don't think that this is going to be a huge issue with the load we have today, but just to show you guys you can make this a little bit tighter.I ended up using all of my hooks that Rightline provides to get this secured down. If you had a full-size truck, I don't think you'd even need hardly any of them that aren't already on the net, but it's nice that they include it. Overall, I think that this is going to do a good job for light duty application. It's not going to replace ratchet straps. I think that this tarp would eventually see some wear and tear on it. I can already see where my box has a point right here, I think that that would be a problem for long-term use, but if you're just looking for something light duty and occasional, I think that this would do a pretty decent job of getting your stuff secured down and protecting it from the elements temporarily. It's not going to be completely waterproof, if you've got it on the trailer, the truck full-time, but overall it'll do a decent job.And that's going to do it for our look at the Rightline Truck Bed and Trailer Cargo Net and Tarp.

This net very inconvenient to use. Much easier to apply a separate tarp then use a separate cargo net to secure the load. I ended up cutting away the net to use the tarp separately. 792915

  • Is the Rightline Gear Truck Bed Tarp w/ Integrated Cargo Net Part # RL100T60 Waterproof
I do have a tarp for you which is coined as "weatherproof" but none of our tarps are labeled as waterproof. The weatherproof tarp we offer, the Rightline Gear Truck Bed Tarp w/ Integrated Cargo Net part # RL100T60 will work to repel water but as it would very difficult to get a watertight seal around the edges, it would not be fair to designate the tarp as waterproof which is going to hold true for most other tarps as well. I have attached a review video for you as well.

  • Could Rightline Gear Truck Bed Cargo Net # RL100T60 Fit 2019 Honda Ridgeline Truck Bed

  • What Seperates Rightline Gear Truck Bed Tarp RL100T60 From Cheap Tarp
Like a lot of tarps the Rightline Gear Truck Bed Tarp w/ Integrated Cargo Net # RL100T60 that you referenced is made of polyester. It's not the super cheap polyester you see on cheap tarps that basically feels like a large sheet of plastic. This is lighter weight so that it behaves more like a fabric in the way it fits items it's protecting. That combined with the integrated cargo net is what really separates it from a cheap tarp. Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.
