Video Transcript for Faq How To Clean Rv Awning Website

(soothing music) Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. So the last time you rolled up your awning and it rained, you probably opened it back up and now you've got mold or mildew on the inside and you need to clean it. Today we're gonna show you how you can clean your awning, so that it's ready for you on your next trip. Now, one quick note for you guys. You wanna be sure you're cleaning your awning not in direct sunlight, so either early in the morning, late in the evening, on a gloomy day like we're doing it today, because what'll happen is your soap will dry as you're putting it on, and you won't be able to get back to it and then you'll have soap streaks. First, we're gonna start by opening up our awning and getting rid of any loose debris that might be trapped on it.

This may involve taking some water and just hosing it off to start with. Next, we're gonna have to prepare our cleaning solution. This can involve cleaner specifically designed for RV awnings, the old reliable Dawn dish soap and water, bleach and water, isopropyl alcohol, or Goo Gone for stubborn tree sap, or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and water. Now, if you have a power washer, and you plan to use it, you can.

You just wanna be sure to not get the stream too close to the awning 'cause you can tear it. If you don't have a pressure washer, you can use a brush to apply the soap. Another thing, if you do have a power washer, a foam cannon can come in handy. We're gonna use one because what it does is it'll suds up the soap on the awning and it'll sit there longer for it to be able to work on these stains himself. And you want to be sure to do the same to the underside.

Now, after you've let your solution sit for a short amount of time, you wanna make sure that you don't let it dry but you want to use a rag, a sponge, or a soft or hard bristle brush to be able to clean it. Now with a soft bristle brush, you want to use those on vinyl awnings, but a hard bristle brush is designed for acrylic awnings. After you've got everything scrubbed down, we wanna rinse it really well, either with low pressure or high pressure water. After you finish rinsing everything off, now you want to let everything dry fully before you put your awning back in. Well guys, hopefully this video helped you to get your awning nice and clean before your next trip.

If you have any questions or comments, leave 'em in the comments below and we'll see you next time.
