Hi everybody. My name is Andy with etrailer dot com. And today we're taking a look at Coghlan's Ferro Rod with Stryker. If you we're looking to have a reliable way to start a fire while you're camping, or while you're on a hike and you don't have to worry about what kind of weather conditions you have, and you just want a reliable way to start a fire in any conditions, this might be something for you to consider. Also, it's good to have a backup plan to start a fire just in case you run out of matches or your mattress become so damp that they're unusable. Again, this would be something good to always have on hand while you're camping or hiking.
So you always have a way to start a fire. Let's take a closer look at it. This Ferro rod is a reliable fire starting tool that lasts approximately up to 4,000 strikes. And this included Stryker scrapes down the rod to create sparks. Now for this to work and unfortunately, I won't be able to demonstrate it in full for you here in my studio, but for this to work, you would just remove the paint on this Flint rod, to get going.
And then you would just use this striker or even the back of a knife blade. And you would just run that along this Flint rod. And doing that you will be creating, you will begin to create sparks. And as you do that, you can aim those sparks to easily ignite Tinder, such as dry pine needles , leaves or dry grass. So it's really easy to use.
And again, what's nice about this is these, these items will work in any weather conditions, whether wet or dry and it'll work in any altitude, altitude situations as well. This Flint rod does have a nice thick handle that makes it easier for you to hold onto and to grip. And it does come with this nice black cord. That's just a convenient way to keep everything tied together. And so you don't have to worry about losing these two items.
But again, you do lose the striker, You can always use a knife blade to run this down the Flint rod. Let's take a look at some measurements here. Beginning at the, with the rod itself, the overall length of our rod. Let me turn it around like this. And we're sitting a little over four inches, probably about four and one eighth inches across. And then the handle, if you're interested , at its widest point, we're sitting right at about, seven eighth Vonage. We gonna take a look at the Stryker. Stryker setting, almost three inches about two and three quarters inches. And then it's almost, an inch wide, almost an inch wide. Now Coghlan also has another fire starter kit. That's a magnesium fire starter with a Stryker. If you're interested in taking a look at that, you can find that on our website, I do a number, C -G -nine-five -F- R. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today at Coghlan's Ferro Rod with Stryker. And again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
