Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors MicroLite insulated water bottles with flip-top lid. These are both going to have a 12 fluid ounce capacity. There are some other capacities available that are going to be the same sort of style, but I just wanted to take a look at these two since they're going to have all the same features and specs. So, the nice thing about them is that they're going to keep your hot beverages hot, cold beverages cold, for a good amount of time. For cold beverages it's about 16 hours, hot beverages about eight hours.
The best way to make sure that you're going to get the most out of that thermal protection is to prep the bottle before you put your liquid in there, especially if you're going to be putting in something like coffee or tea.If you just pour in some hot water, let it sit for five minutes, and then pour in your beverage that is already going to be prepped and warm so that whatever you're pouring in there doesn't have to heat up the bottle itself, if that makes sense. Same thing for cold stuff too. Although, cold typically lasts longer since it does better physics. As far as what you get with the bottles, they do have a lock to help prevent them from accidentally being opened up. So, whenever that's pushed down, it won't want to spring open.
But, as soon as you slide that up, it will pop open pretty nicely. So, again, these are going to be exactly the same. They are sold separately, but you have a choice of either white or red. They hold about 12 fluid ounces, weigh about eight ounces each, and should be able to fit into just about any kind of cup holder out there. They measure about seven inches tall and then about two and a half inches in diameter. You can see it has that rubbery bottom to help give it a little non-slip design so it won't have to slide off if you're setting them on something that might be slick, like your vehicle roof or anything like that.
It also helps to prevent them from just thudding and making a lot of racket. They are stainless steel. Nice thin walls to make it more compact and reduce some of the weight. So, you can see how thin those are from looking inside. Again, that locking mechanism: push it down to lock, push it up to open.Whenever that is open, you can see our mouthpiece has a nice wide piece, so it's comfortable as you're lifting that to your mouth, but it's not going to just gush out water and spill all over you if that was all the way open.
I always have a problem with that with anything that has a wide mouth bottle. I just end up spilling water all over myself. But, that's pretty much all there is to it for our quick look at the GSI Outdoors MicroLite flip-top bottles. I hope that this has been helpful in deciding if one of these is the right choice for you. We do have a lot of GSI gear here at etrailer.com, along with a whole bunch of accessories and parts for your RVs, boats, and more, so be sure to check it out. Thanks for watching..
Great, speedy service!!!!
The padded bottom is really nice. We have a few different brands of these in the cabinet and I find myself reaching for this one when it's in there. When you set it down after taking a drink it doesn't make that clunk noise you get from all the others.
This bottle is SUPER easy to use. I love the "lock" on the top, which prevents spills. Most importantly the bottle can be opened and closed using only ONE hand, which is especially important when a drink is needed while driving. In addition, the bottle keeps the water cold for a very long time. Include a couple of ice cubes, and the water stays VERY cold for a long time.
I love the product however I receive the smaller version of the micro light for Christmas and due to an accident the lid broke and I haven’t been able to find out if a replacement is available and in the meanwhile I purchased the 24 ounce Microlite to serve in the interim. Please let me know if new leads are available.
Great bottle, keeps liquids cold and doesn’t leak.
This item seems to be discontinued as I couldn’t find it anywhere. I had lost this bottle and was looking to replace it because it’s great for my needs. Designed so you can fill it all the way up, the exterior is very low profile as is the flip tab which is way more convenient than unscrewing the lid. It’s also the lightest of that matters at all. It’s so thin you can depress the metal which may lend to dents but I haven’t had the issue. Wouldn’t have thought I would like a water bottle so much but it fits really well with my edc.
Great service - staff went above & beyond to make sure we got the right color item and it shipped out immediately.
Originally got this from my mom for Christmas bc she has one and loves it. This thermos keeps my coffee HOT and it's light and fits in my backpack, so it's easy to carry on my bike. Great to have for a 430am wake-up and at a freezing outdoor job site at o-dark-thirty. Hot coffee makes it bearable! Only one complaint: the plastic lids are too easy to break if the thermos gets dropped. A metal lid would be a better idea; also, if etrailer could carry replacement lids that would be great. Had to order a whole new thermos because a house guest dropped it and cracked the lid wide open before I had a chance to use it. Ordering a replacement lid from GSI would have taken too long as I needed it ASAP to go out on this COLD job, so I ordered through etrailer bc of faster and cheaper shipping. Will order an extra lid from GSI later so I will have a backup thermos.
This is by far my favorite water bottle. It's lightweight, is really easy to drink from, easy to take apart and clean and keeps drinks cold for a full day with a little bit of ice. It fits into standard cupholders and the lid covers the whole top and is easy to open and locks into place. I've had one for over 5 years and it's perfect for travel and everyday use. Going through airports is perfect and with the lid, I feel better about getting less germs and whatnot on my drinking surface. It's been dropped many times and carried on bikes, planes, cars, in bags, hiking and much more. I'm happy I was able to get a green one to to keep the fleet going.
