Hey everybody, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the GSI Outdoors Cowboy Coffee Boiler. This is a great way to get a whole crowd caffeinated for the hike ahead, or your camping trip, or just be kind of the base camp coffee station. So you get two handles to pour this out so you can kind of hold it here. Maybe have it sitting above the campfire on a little hook or something like that and be able to just pour from the pot as it is. Or you can always just, of course, kinda put your hand on it and pour it out. This does have a 36 cup capacity.
So if you wanna serve actual 36 eight ounce cups that's how much you can get out of this. Or if you prefer a 12 ounce mug, that's kind of your typical standard size mug, gives you about 24, 12 ounce cups. So just kind of give you an idea. So definitely a great idea for a big crowd or if you wanna just be extra, super caffeinated for your trip. And it's pretty easy to use.
If you've ever made cowboy coffee, you'll know how to do it, but if you want a couple of tips, best way to do it, you of course, put your water in there. Let that come to a boil, put it off to the side, let it cool down to about 200 degrees. If you've got a thermometer, great. If not, you just want it to cool a little bit from being totally boiling. That's gonna help to prevent the coffee from getting kind of bitter or scorching the beans.
You wanna use coarse ground beans. Whenever you put those in there, stir them up, let it sit for a bit, stir it again. And then you can put a little bit of cold water to knock down those beans again, so that you don't have a bunch of grounds coming up in your coffee. So just a couple of tips, as far as how that goes. You can either put this, again, over the flames or kinda closer to it.
It's a nice, thick three ply construction. So it should last for a long time. Don't have to worry about any kind of rust or anything. It's got a nice enamel coating. So it looks really good. Again, it's just a giant big coffee boiler. So you can make plenty of coffee in this guy and get everybody a little bit to go around, or a lot of it to go around. Weighs about four pounds, as far as the height, it's about 13 inches tall. We go to the top of the lid. At the base, About nine inches wide. We go to the spout and the handle, looks like it's more like 11 or 12 inches. The larger handle that comes up at the top, we'll give you another measurement for that just for reference. So that makes the whole thing about 18 and a half inches, if we go from the base to about where it would be sitting here. All in all, I think this is a really nice coffee boiler in general. It is big, so if you just need a little bit of coffee this is maybe not the best route to go, but if you've got a big group, or again, a smaller group that just likes to have a lot of coffee, this is a nice way to do it and should be a really long lasting coffee boiler to have for many trips to come. I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. We do have some other camping gear and accessories here at etrailer.com so be sure to check it out. Thanks for watching..
