Lever-Action Derringer Handles

Standard turnbuckles have to be manually tightened, which can be a bit of a chore. TorkLift AnchorGuard turnbuckles with Derringer handles eliminate this difficult step. Just hook one end of each turnbuckle onto your camper and hook the other end onto the camper tie-downs that are mounted to your truck bed rails or stake pockets, or your bumper. Then, to tighten the turnbuckles, flip the lever-action handles down - it's that simple. Pins are included to secure the handles in place, ensuring that your tie-down system remains tight and secure. For additional security and peace of mind, use TorkLift's FastGun pin locks (TLS9500 - sold separately) in place of the pins to more effectively lock the system down.

TorkLift AnchoGuard Turnbuckle with Derringer Handle in Use

When you reach your campsite and you're ready to set up, just remove the pins (or locks), and flip the handles up to release the tension on the turnbuckles. With the tension released, you can quickly and easily remove the turnbuckles, activate your jacks, and set up your camper. This quick-disconnect feature is also great if one of the attached turnbuckles covers your truck's fuel tank door. No need to manually twist an older style turnbuckle and remove chains to disengage the entire system. Just pop the handle up, unhook the turnbuckle so you can move it out of the way, and fuel up.

Video Transcript for TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Turnbuckles - TLS9020 Review

Today we're going to review part number TLS9020. These are the TorkLift AnchorGuard Derringer turnbuckles for truck camper tie-downs. These quick release turnbuckles will secure your camper to the tie-downs that are mounted on your truck. If you need tie-downs for your truck we also sell them separately on our website. You can see these turnbuckles have a lever action Derringer handle which makes turnbuckles easy to operate. Basically, if you pop the handle up to release it, it will let you release it from the tie-downs on your vehicle on your camper. When you do have them hooked up if you just push down on the handle with the hooks in place that will tighten it up between your camper and your truck bed. Now the shorter ones are the front turnbuckles and they are spring loaded to help reduce stress on your tie-down points. You'll notice there are these two rubber O-rings on the end here. Those are basically spring tension indicators on both the driver's and the passenger's side, and what that does is when you open up your, I'll just show you here, you open up your lever here, and then go to hook it on to your tie-down points, what you want to do is make sure you have the correct tension. Your tension is adjusted right here and right here. There's two nuts that you'll loosen or tighten up to get the correct tension. To get the correct tension, once you open this handle up you'll just move the rubber washer all the way to the end of this turnbuckle. Then when you push it shut it should move it out about a 1/4 inch. That would mean you have the correct spring tension on these turnbuckles. The instructions will show you how to do all that. They are included. Now the rear turnbuckles right here, they are the short turnbuckle but they have the longer threaded rods to them. Now these are cushioned with rubber instead of being spring loaded like the front ones, and the reason they do that the rubber in the inside will ensure proper amount of tension for bumper-mounted tie-downs on the rear while still minimizing stress on your tie-down points. The attachment hooks right here as you can see will swivel. This will make easy positioning. These turnbuckles are made of a sturdy rust-proof construction. The turnbuckles themselves are a stainless steel construction. The lever is right here you can see are a black powder-coated aluminum on the handles. This kit does include everything shown here. It includes the two long front turnbuckles, the two short turnbuckles with the treaded four threaded rods, the four Derringer handles, the O-ring tension indicators that I mentioned before locking pins on it. Now this part is made in the USA.

The application on these is that it can be used with bed and bumper mounted tie-downs on your truck camper. They are not for use with the TorkLift frame-mounted tie-downs. Now this front turnbuckle right here, the adjustment reach on this is anywheres from 18-1/2 inches to 25-1/2 inches. On this rear turnbuckle you can adjust the reach anywheres from 28-1/2 inches to 34-1/2 inches. This does come with a quantity of all four. It does comes with a lifetime warranty. Basically what you would do is open your handle up, put your hooks onto your tie-downs and again adjust it right here and right here using the indicator, and with that indicator up against the end when you go to push this down it should move it out a 1/4 inch. Once you've got the handle down just secure it, put the pin through it, lock it into place. Now, you can also, we do sell separate inaudible 0:03:58 life locks that you can put in here if you want additional security so nobody can open up the handles themselves. That should do it for the review of part number TLS9020, the TorkLift AnchorGuard Derringer Turnbuckles for truck camper tie-downs. .

(March 2018). This is more of a review of the service rec'vd by etrailer.com rather than on the products themselves; I just rec'vd the shipment and have not had a chance to use them yet - its still winter here and the camper is still under snow. But, the service is exceptionally good and worth noting. Many retailers won't ship to Alaska for some unknown reasons. They don't know that Anchorage is the fourth largest cargo hub in the western hemisphere and generally, when we do order items we get them well before the shipper tells us we will. Why? Note mention of hub earlier. Dah. I order items in the winter months well ahead of summer so that I have them when I need them. The items sit in my garage patiently waiting for me to use them. etrailer.com has very good customer service. Far better than [other online retailers]. I have placed orders with etrailer.com and if it can't be filled or they need additional info, they call me! What? Call me? You betcha. Excellent and very much appreciated. When I do rec'v them, the items are all well packed and after delivery, they send a follow up message. So, yes, I will continue to order from these folks. 490389

I had no problems with ordering from etrailer but I was unhappy that these actually cannot be locked as advertised. I believe that is actually the manufacturers fault. Even with locks through the handles, it's easy to turn the turnbuckle and loosen them so they can be stolen. They do function well, but I wish they could actually be locked. 584570

I needed these tiedowns immediately as I discovered my old ones were rusted when I went to load the camper. Information on etrailer’s website was accurate so selecting the proper tie downs was easy. Ordering process was pain-free and allowed many options for shipping. I selected 2 day shipping and it arrived in two days. The tie downs look to be very well made. All fasteners were made of stainless steel and the buckle portion appears to be powder coated. Easy installation and adjustment. Works perfectly. Holds my Lance camper securely and eliminated some sway. Locks were kind of expensive, but worth the investment. Overall, delighted with the service and happy with the products. Would definitely recommend for light to medium weight, bed mounted campers. 708160

Awesome product. 16,000 miles last year mostly on back and off road over terrain I’d sometime rather not have gone and not 1 issue with the tie downs. 616278

  • Recommended Frame Mounted Tie-Downs for a 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty
You are correct, the # TLS9020 are specifically designed for bed-mounted or bumper-mounted camper tie-downs. I spoke to my installer about this and he informed me that this particular customer had half of the HappiJac's system and half frame mounted so there had to be some modifications made. Since your truck doesn't have the front anchor plates and rear button and clip of the HappiJac's system you will want to use traditional length fast guns. It's not recommended to use chain link...
