Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Talon Custom Frame Mounted Aluminum Rear - TLR3503A

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at these TorkLift Talon Custom Frame-Mounted Aluminum Rear Camper Tie-Downs. These tie-downs provide attachment points at the rear of your truck bed for securing a bed-mounted camper. Now, these are custom fit tie-downs that are designed to fit different years and versions of the Ram, the Ford F-Series, the GMC Sierra, and the Chevrolet Silverado trucks. To confirm if these work for your vehicle, take advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com, and input the year, make, and model of your truck, and our fit guide will let you know if these will work for your truck or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, the frame-mounted design, it's going to ensure excellent handling, because securing your camper to your truck's base instead of its bed better distributes weight to keep your setup from being too top heavy. The brackets fit tight to your truck's frame, so there's not gonna be any loss of ground clearance, and these rustproof and lightweight aluminum alloy tie-down inserts are gonna secure to these durable stainless steel receiver brackets.

Now, these inserts can be easily removed from the frame-mounted brackets with these included bail pins, and so, I'm just removing one of these pins here from this receiver bracket, and as you can see, they slide out very easily, and then when you remove the tie-down, the bracket itself is gonna be virtually undetectable. Again, this insert is aluminum, so it's very lightweight, you're gonna be able to easily remove these inserts and stow them in the rear of the bed of your truck when you don't need them. And what's nice about what you're receiving here is when you do remove the insert, this does include caps to put over the receiver bracket, so I'm just gonna kinda work this on here a little bit to show you what this is going to look like, and it takes a little bit of doing, I'm sure this cap will loosen up over time, so you can slide that on a little bit quicker, but as you can see, that gives your bracket a nice finished look when you have that insert out, and this is going to protect the inside of that bracket from dirt and debris and stuff that flies up from the road, so there's not gonna be any obstruction in there for when you wanna replace your insert. Now, these inserts have two different holes as you can see there, and the one that's farther out right here near the end can be used for campers that are wider, and if your camper is a little bit narrower, you can slide this in to the hole that's closer to the end that will be sticking out of this insert. So again, this is gonna be flexible for you, depending on the width of your camper.

So I'm gonna go ahead and put this back into place here, line it up here with the second hole, and replace my bail pin. Again, it's gonna be a very easy and very smooth operation. These both have a high-impact powder coat finish that's going to add an extra layer of protection to the brackets. And you're going to get everything that you see here on the table before me, you're going to get the two rear tie-down inserts, the frame brackets, the necessary hardware that you're going to need to successfully install this to your truck, and of course, instructions to walk you through the installation process, and again, these caps that you can put on the receiver brackets when your inserts are removed. So this is going to provide a very secure connection point for your turn buckles.

Really, it's a great quality, and I think it's going to last you a great while and provides you many years of service. I do wanna mention that these are made in the USA, and these do have a lifetime warranty. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

The Talons and the fast guns are awesome products, fit and installation was very easy. The products have held up very well and will for a long time. The extra money spent for this set up was very worth it. It takes no time at all to secure the camper down and the fast guns have never needed adjustment after initial set up. ETRAILER was great to work with and followed up after sale. Products shipped quick and were in stock. They also had lots of information posted on YouTube to ease installation. Great company, great products by Torklift!

Review from a similar Talon Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

Torklift frame mounted tie downs are a great product. The rear ones are easy to install. The front require a bit more skill and an extra set of hands. It’s a bit nerve wracking thinking you might loose the bolts into the frame! I upgraded my truck from an F150 to an F250. Because the brackets aren’t transferable, I had to get a new set and install them on my F250. I was glad I had the experience with the previous brackets on the F150 because the ones for the F250 are a bit heavier and more challenging to install. But I was able to do it with an extra set of hands to hold the brackets on to the frame. The fact that I went with the same Torklift system is a testament to the product. If you can afford aluminum, they’re beautiful and light. But once everything is in place, there’s no functional difference.
etrailer has great installation videos for the F150, but not the F250. I wish they had install videos for the F250 because it’s a bit more challenging, requiring an impact driver to loosen the nut on the driver side leaf spring.

Excellent product. Good customer service. I will always use tork lift products from now on.
etrailer is an excellent vendor as well.
I upgraded from happy jack camper tie downs. I like the aluminum talon tork lifts for their easy installation, zero corrosion liability, and unimposing appearance when not in use.

It's a little tricky feeding the bolts through the frame (almost lost one, but a little tape on the bolt/spring helped), but a great product otherwise. The mounting scheme for my Chevy 2500 HD is strong and ingeniously designed. No drilling or welding. The aluminum won't rust like other tie-downs mounted to the frame. It was well worth the extra money to get the aluminum version of this product.

Review from a similar Talon Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

I recently purchased and installed TorkLift Talon rear tie-downs for my 2016 Ford F150supercab 8ft box. Installation was very easy with well explained directions. Product is excellent quality and will last the life of my truck. I only wish the front tie-down application was available, I would buy it in a heart beat. I will continue to check to see if front application becomes available.

Easiest installation available. These fit perfect and attach just as instructed. The only issue you may have to watch is that on some truck frames, mine being one of them, Ford covers one of the holes with a black sticker that states, "No Mounting Bracket". In my case, the writing on this sticker was covered by a film of road grime and I had problems even finding the hole to dry fit the bracket until I cleaned off the frame with solvent. The actually TorkLift kit fits the frame perfectly though. The passenger rear bracket is very close to the exhaust pipe so when diesel particulate filter regeneration cycle begins, it will melt the label off the bracket but does not appear the even burn the paint on it so should still be OK, just be aware when unhooking the tie down from the bracket as it could be very hot.

I bought the Torklift camper tie downs for my new 2017 Ram 3500 dually. I haul a Lance 850 slide in truck camper. They came today and I installed them in about 4 hours. (I work slow) I bought the Aluminum ones so I don't have to worry about any rust. They look great and like the Torklift that was on my old truck I am sure they will give me great service.

  • Rear Tie Downs for Use with Torklift Super Hitch Original F1002
I confirmed with my contact at Torklift that the correct rear tie downs for use with your original F1002 hitch are indeed part # TLR3503. This kit includes 2 rear tie downs inserts, frame brackets, and necessary hardware. Installation instructions are linked for you.

  • Torklift Talon Camper Tie-downs Compatibility with 2012 Ram 3500
Your Torklift Talon mounts will not be compatible with an aftermarket hitch like the Draw-Tite Class V # DT45509. You would use the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs - Rear # TLR3500 for that application. To utilize your TorkLift Talon Tie-Downs # TLR3503A, you would need to use the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - Dual 2" Receivers # TLD1101 on your truck as the trailer hitch receiver.

  • TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs & Receiver For 2004 Ford F-250 Short Bed Truck W/ Air Lift Helper Springs
Yes, the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver # TLF1002 will fit your 2004 Ford F-250 with the 6-3/4' bed. The Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57291 you found are designed to fit with the B&W fifth wheel hitch 1105 or 1199R. If you have either of these it will work on your F-250. Otherwise the Air Lift # AL57393 is the correct kit to fit your F-250. I do recommend considering either the Air Lift # AL88291 (for B&W) or Air Lift # AL88390 as these include...
