Video Transcript for TorkLift Rear Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at TorkLift's line of Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs. This is for the rear. You'll want to check etrailer.com's fit guide to verify which ones are going to work with your vehicle. They're also available for the front. So, you can get a matching set custom made for your application. These custom mounted brackets are going to provide an easy attachment point to hook up your camper. What's additionally great about those is that they have the removable ends, so when you're not using it, they'll be hidden away and your vehicle will look like factory. The custom mounted brackets we're engineered to provide you with the best location for your tie-down point, to evenly distribute the load. So once they're attached and adjusted, this'll keep your camper from being too top heavy. This will increase the overall ride quality while your camper's attached and the safety. The attachment points are removable and adjustable.

There'll be two loops here where you can make your connection to your camper and there's two holes here to adjust the length of how far your attachment point sticks out.You can use either hole. So if you have very wide camper, you can use that first hole, or if your camper is tucked in nicer, you can use the second hole. The included pin will slide through the hole and keep it in place. It's made of a durable powder coated steel, so it's going to be extra strong and rigid, to keep your camper tied down nice and snug and the powder coat is going to prevent any rust and corrosion from occurring. When you're ready to hook up to your new connection point, take your turnbuckles and attach them to your camper. Now, if you need some turnbuckles, you can pick some up here on our website. You'll hook it in to your camper and you'll also hook it in down here on your new attachment point. Then, depending on your style of turnbuckle, you'll want to tighten it down.

Ours is a twist adjustment type. There are many different styles. And now with both sides in place, we'll repeat that same process in the front.Compared to Stake Pocket, or bumper-mounted camper tie-downs, frame-mounted tie-downs will provide better handling. They also mount out of sight, so they will be undetectable when not in use, giving your truck a cleaner look.Because the custom fit brackets secure tight against your trucks frame, there is no loss of ground clearance; and that completes our look at TorkLift's line of Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs for the rear.

I really don't write reviews often but when everything is perfect is worth the time. I am a repeat Etrailer customer so it didn't surprise me that my shipment was complete and received in two days. These TorkLift frame mounted camper tie-downs are high-quality, heavy duty and powder coated. I put a full set on my new 2016 Ford F350 SRW 4 X 4 and will be using them with a Lance 855S truck camper. Installation went flawless without any drilling or adjustments. Instructions were clear and to the point. The most important benefit to the product is that your camper is held to your truck by the frame and not the bed and bumper. This reduces camper sway, movement and stress on the truck body. As far as appearance the tie down arms are removable for when the camper is not in use. This sure beats drilling holes in your truck bed, bumper and attaching brackets that permanently stay on the truck. Hats off to etrailer and TorkLift!

Excellent service! etrailer usually has the product in stock that we are looking for and at a competitive price. And quick shipping!

- TLF3006
by:

Would have given it 5 stars except I am a little disappointed with the paint quality. Most parts had chips and spots of bare metal right out of the box. Installation was a breeze though and everything fit perfectly! I still would recommend this set, but if you have the extra $ maybe the aluminum version would be worth it if you are worried about rust? Too late for me though...

- TLF3006
by:

Installing them was relatively simple, but you should tell people that they need short drill bits. There is little room between the frame and pickup box, unless you have a angle drill. Also in the instructions you have bolts that need to be torxed down but I only found two of the three you list. I would give you five stars but for what you get they are overpriced.

Installed on a 2014 F350 with a factory installed hitch. Very easy to install the rear tie-downs. Directions suggest using a hammer and chisel to remove the excess welding flash inside the ends of the factory hitch. A rotary tool (dremel) with a grinding bit is a much better tool. Removes the flash and smoothes the insides for the forklift sleeves to slide in. I suggest hitting it with a coat of paint over the newly exposed metal; prevent rust.

The Torklift tie down system is awesome. I have used it to secure two different types of truck bed campers to my F350 for a total of over 8000 miles. Always secure, Ive never had a problem with them.

Straight forward install, I have not used them yet!

Comments
Product used many times now. I have only one issue with the way the rear brackets mount to the trailer hitch. There is a lot of play in the bracket attachment [when the camper is off]. This needs to have a reworked bracket for better stability.

This product works. The only issue was the fit in the side of the hitch. One side was good but the other is loose.

Excellent service! I was in a hurry to get our torklift tiedowns for vacation and they came as told in 2 days. Thanks Montreal!

- TLF3006
by:

Very sturdy with solid mounting hardware. Works very well for anchor points of 2500lbs and more. Paint could be better, mine have rust developing on all 4 corners. So I'll just have to clean them up and repaint them. But as for the strong build, I'm very glad the design is solid....

- TLF3006
by:

This product has the benefits of easy mounting and storage when not using the tie-downs. Although there is a lot of movement and flex in the mounting points at the truck end and also at point of Turnbuckle connection. Would much rather see a more rigid set-up and take advantage of spring loaded tie downs for movement and flexibility.

Just received my 2nd set of Torklift tie Downs and, as usual, etrailer delivered my order on time and in good shape. The Torklifts are top of the line in truck camper tie downs and etrailer is my go-to source for EVERYTHING truck and trailer related. Some have told me that this part or that part is cheaper on other sites, but I appreciate being able to repeatedly go to etrailer knowing that their products are top quality at very competitive prices. With such consistency, why shop anywhere else?

Directions to install were very good. Had to file down some welded seam in the rear hitch bracket on the truck (as indicated in directions). Not very happy with the finish. The paint (powder coat) was the worst and kept peeling off everywhere. A spray-can of Rustoleum made it all good!

- TLF3006
by:

Really easy to install once I figured it all out. The pictures helped. Hardest part was dropping the gas tank cover. The rear section took less than 1/2 hour. Maybe 2 hours for the front. I'm 71 so im a little slow crawling around under the truck. So far so good.

  • Will TorkLift Rear Camper Tie-Downs Interfere with Dual Exhaust on F-350 Diesel
The factory dual exhaust pipes on the passenger's side of your 2014 Ford F-350 will not interfere with the installation of the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Rear Camper Tie-Downs, part # TLF3006. I confirmed with Torklift that these are a fit for your 4x4 truck with the 8 foot bed, crew cab, with no board or step present underneath of the bed, and with the factory installed hitch. The correct TorkLift Front Camper Tie-Downs for this application are part # TLF2016.

This is a bed mounted tie down but if you wanted something different, you could get a TorkLift Talon Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Front # TLF2022A and rear # TLF3008A. Thank you for your recent purchase of TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs # TLF3006. According to my contact at TorkLift the small notches that can appear on some of these turnbuckle mounting holes are simply "artifacts" of the plasma cutting process and are of no consequence in terms of your installation. Based on the supplied image it does not appear that you have a running board under the bed. If you did it would extend nearly to the rear tire. For a 2013 Ford F-250 without a running board under the bed, and with a factory hitch, the best camper tie-downs would be the TorkLift # TLF2016 (front) and # TLF3006 (rear) tie-downs.
