Video Transcript for TorkLift Rear Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at TorkLift's line of Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs. This is for the rear. You'll want to check etrailer.com's fit guide to verify which ones are going to work with your vehicle. They're also available for the front. So, you can get a matching set custom made for your application. These custom mounted brackets are going to provide an easy attachment point to hook up your camper. What's additionally great about those is that they have the removable ends, so when you're not using it, they'll be hidden away and your vehicle will look like factory. The custom mounted brackets we're engineered to provide you with the best location for your tie-down point, to evenly distribute the load. So once they're attached and adjusted, this'll keep your camper from being too top heavy. This will increase the overall ride quality while your camper's attached and the safety. The attachment points are removable and adjustable.

There'll be two loops here where you can make your connection to your camper and there's two holes here to adjust the length of how far your attachment point sticks out.You can use either hole. So if you have very wide camper, you can use that first hole, or if your camper is tucked in nicer, you can use the second hole. The included pin will slide through the hole and keep it in place. It's made of a durable powder coated steel, so it's going to be extra strong and rigid, to keep your camper tied down nice and snug and the powder coat is going to prevent any rust and corrosion from occurring. When you're ready to hook up to your new connection point, take your turnbuckles and attach them to your camper. Now, if you need some turnbuckles, you can pick some up here on our website. You'll hook it in to your camper and you'll also hook it in down here on your new attachment point. Then, depending on your style of turnbuckle, you'll want to tighten it down.

Ours is a twist adjustment type. There are many different styles. And now with both sides in place, we'll repeat that same process in the front.Compared to Stake Pocket, or bumper-mounted camper tie-downs, frame-mounted tie-downs will provide better handling. They also mount out of sight, so they will be undetectable when not in use, giving your truck a cleaner look.Because the custom fit brackets secure tight against your trucks frame, there is no loss of ground clearance; and that completes our look at TorkLift's line of Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs for the rear.

This product is made to fit several versions the Ford F250- mine is a 2002 model. This attached to the factory installed hitch just as it said it would. The only derivation came when I went to attach the bracket which locks over the bolt and existing crossbar. The angle of the bolt did not match the angle of the fitting, so it does not quite fit as snug as I would like. Nonetheless, it holds well so far, being that the acorn nut tightens down and locks things in place. I hauled a 1 ton slide-in camper 60 miles without any hassle. This product does what Etrailer said it would, and along with its counterparts in the front of my truck box, - also an etrailer purchase- I have no worries about summer camping season! I am a satisfied customer.

Comments
Ive put over a thousand miles on the truck and camper last season. My etrailer purchase of the torklift product continues to be a reliable system of box-camper stability.

The Torklift True Frame Mounted Camper Tie Downs I purchased for my 2004 F350 with single rear wheels seem to be constructed out of sufficient steel gauge and grade of steel to adequately hold a camper in the truck bed. This method of securing a camper to the bed of the pick up is probably the most secure method available because it does not rely on the strength and integrity of the bed walls. My experience with this Ford is that the pickup bed is not designed for certain weight bearing applications and such as supporting heavy overhead racks on rough roads. They are also probably not designed to handle the forces that may occur on rough roads, during an emergency maneuver, or during even a minor collision with a bed mount system. The same is probably true for Dodge and Chevy.

Perfect fit on 2001 F350 crew cab with factory tow hitch. Super easy to install and work perfectly. Got front mounts to and also work perfectly. Definitely worth the money. Thanks TorkLift and Etrailer for another great bolt on product!!! I'm a happy camper!!

Driver's side front tie-down was tough to install, my '99 Ford Super Duty wouldn't allow the placement of the 1" backer plate on the inside of the frame due to other OEM things installed in that channel of the frame area. I was able to get the bolt and star washer in. Other than that the whole system was straight forward and good quality!

  • Best Camper Tie-Downs and Turnbuckles for 2004 Ford F-350 With 8 Foot Bed
The best camper tie-downs and turnbuckles for your 2004 Ford F-350 with an 8 foot bed are from TorkLift because they offer the best strength and stability due to bolting directly to your truck's frame. The correct fit for the front tie-downs is going to depend on if your F-350 has running boards or steps that extend underneath your truck bed, though the rear tie-downs will be the same no matter what. - Rear: TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs # TLF3001 - Front (WITHOUT...

The TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs - Rear # TLF3001 are the rear tie downs and are not the fit for your truck. They are for a Ford F-150, F-250, or F-350 and only certain model years. For your 2018 Ram 2500, (if you have a crew cab and 8 foot bed for example) would want the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs - Front # TLD2126 and then the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs - Rear # TLD3109 if you determined you did want the rear tie-downs as...

  • Would TLF3001 Fit my 2000 Ford F-350 with the Factory Hitch
Yes the TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs part # TLF3001 will work on your 2000 Ford F-350 with the factory hitch. They are designed to be very easily installed and do an excellent job of keeping your camper secure. The rear most portion of the hitch where you say it is rounded in slightly may pose a slight interference issue but if it does just bend or tap it out just enough for the tie downs to slide in.

  • How Do the Rear Camper Tie Downs for a 2004 F-250 Super Duty Install in the Trailer Hitch
The 2-1/2 inch opening is not going to be a problem. The rear tie downs, # TLF3001, come with a sleeve that fits around the outer tube and inside of the open ends of the hitch on the truck. With the sleeve on the width of the outer tube becomes 2-1/2 inches. I pulled # TLF3001 to confirm this. There would be minimal space between the outer tube sleeve and the inner part of the hitch tube. On the bracket from the center of that bolt that faces rearward to the end of the tube is 6 inches....

  • Compatibility of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs
Since your F-250's hitch was installed after it left the factory it could potentially be either a factory hitch or an aftermarket hitch. There should be a safety sticker on the hitch that indicates its capacities and also its manufacturer. If there is no such sticker on your hitch, nor any identification for brand (Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch) nor a part number, then chances are its the OEM version. If you have a non-Torklift aftermarket hitch the tie downs you can use are part # TLF2011...

  • Camper Tie Downs for 2000 Ford Super Duty
There are several different types of tie downs, bed mounted, bumper mounted and frame mounted. For you 2000 Ford Super Duty I recommend frame mounted tie downs, they provide the strongest base for securing your camper. Since the attachment points are on the frame, which is lower than the bed, it distributes the weight better and gives you better handling and a more stable rig. The TorkLift Custom Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Front # TLF2007 and Rear # TLF3001 are a great example. The...

The Brophy tie downs # HSAB should only be mounted to make contact with the metal of the bed so I would not recommend them for your 2002 Ford F-250 unless you can remove those caps. Since you are trading in the camper for perhaps another camper the best solution is to use custom fit frame mounted camper tie downs.
