A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

how to find the right tie down for my truck - custom camper tiedown

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

@JamesA Awesome, we're glad to hear that!

Sturdy and convenient to use, but the powder coat finish has proven to not be very durable or able to withstand typical on-road use. I think other owners may have experienced the same. I would have expected a better finish.

After a years use, I would I would purchase the TorkLift tie-downs again and recommend them to friends. Deterioration of the finish occurred early and has not noticeably progressed.

Ford F-450 Super Duty

Installed these on a 2022 F450. Installation was straight forward. The wire used to locate the bolts from the interior of the frame worked well (very clever).
The bolts needed to be installed loosely due to some distortion due to welding...The bolts were then torqued to value.

This is my second set for a second truck camper.

by:

Fast shipping and had the Torque camper tie downs mounted within a week. I will use these guys again.

by:

The torklift products are excellent as always and customer service from etrailer is some of the best on the web! They are my go to source for all things truck camper.

by:

This system for securing your slide in camper is really good. Instalation is straight forward. Highly recommend.

by:

These parts fit exactly as specified with no modifications necessary. It took me a couple hours to install by myself, another pair of hands would have sped up the process but it can be done alone. They hold up well and when not in use I store the extensions in the garage and the receivers are almost hidden.

by:

Very well made. The instructions had 2 errors. If any one actually reads this contact me and I will tell you what the errors were.

by:

Great product. Works perfectly and keeps my track camper secure.

2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

These really are such a great product! Easy install and excellent durability after a year. Have put several thousand miles on the truck with the camper and couldn’t be happier!

Ford F-450 Super Duty

I've been using these for a year now on my F450 with a Lance 1161 11' 11" camper. The instructions were easy to follow and installation took me about an hour. This heavy camper puts a lot of weight and stress on these frame mounted tie-downs. I should mention that I teamed these up with the back frame tie down mounts and TorkLift tie downs. Not one failure or issue this past year. We have taken this down the highway, freeway, rough dirt roads and no issues. These aren't cheap but neither is my truck or the camper. In my opinion, it is well worth the expense. Not to mention the safety of my family. I highly recommend these to anyone with a truck and camper setup.

by:

The product is great. Installation instructions were simple. Very happy with the product and the service from strainer.

by:

there were a couple beads of metal from the weld about 4" inside the sleeve that blocked the tie down from sliding in. had to use a couple different cold chisels to chip away at it to get enough space for it to slide in, but it is still scratching up the tie down each time. otherwise it's a super solid product.

by:

Install on the fronts isn’t too bad. Did it by myself in an hour or so. They do clear my factory extended running boards. Easy to use and then clean and out of the way when not in use.

by:

It fits but you have to force it into place on a 22 f350 CCLB. The top mount that ties into the bed mount sits too low on the driver and passenger side. Not quite a "exact fit" like advertised. Pictures of both the driver and passenger side added.

by:
2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty

We couldn't be happier with the Torklift Camper Tiedowns. Install time was minimal and fit and finish couldn't be better. Bolt fishing the frame on the passenger-side of a 2017 F350, is slightly different than the instructions suggest. But, you can't blame Torklift for not being able to keep up with every Ford engineer who gets a wild hair, to slot a new hole in the frame on Friday @ beer-thirty. For any buyers who have an F350, SRW, long box, with running boards that extend into the bed: don't panic! Even though the drop down menu doesn't give you the option, the Torklift: TLF2021 kit will still clear the step PERFECTLY! (See picture) Thanks again, etrailer. Ordering was a breeze, the package tracker was awesome and communication was excellent.

Wow what a difference compared to the competition that I’ve used before. The camper isn’t going anywhere with these tie downs!

by:
Ford F-250 Super Duty

I have had both the front and rear tie downs installed on my F-250 Super duty with an Eagle cap 950 truck camper. These are the only way to go. Being attached to the frame it feels a part of the truck itself and and it is so much safer than any bed mounted tie downs. I have taken the camper off road and the stability is no problem due to being tied to the frame itself. If you want piece of mind for your camper travels, invest in these.

Best and most stable for Truck camper. Been all over and these are so stable, it makes the camper and truck feel like they are part of each other. Stable stable stable!!!

Products are great, had trouble with the shipping 1/2 the order didn’t ship. Was late getting it after I had to contact etrailer.

2018 Ford Flex

I have a 2018 model F450 so was a little hesitant due to the year not coming up as an option. The fit was fine with perfect alignment, though, and the extensions worked with the open backed factory running boards. I assume the finish was fine at the factory but there was some scuffing on the parts by the time they got to my door. The work around for getting the bolts situated in a boxed frame was a bit of a pain. Unlike the videos where the tech walks up to the frame on a lift, most guys will end up on their backs under the truck trying to feed little wires through at an angle from hole to hole. Hint: I used a small flex gripper to grab the "threads" and pulled the puller. It was a little stiffer and more manageable. Ever think of a heavy duty winged bolt similar to those used for drywall? That would make the installation much easier.

Delivery was on time. Product was exactly what I ordered and expected. Customer service during the process of finding the right part for my truck over the phone was great and accurate. I’ve ordered from them before I will order from them again.

by:

Tie downs fit perfectly. The ordering was easy and shipping was fast, even to Alaska. Smooth operation from start to finish. All phases of ordering and shipping can go bad. The fella I worked with was extremely knowledgeable and quick. Excellent work!!

by:

it wasn't too bad 1 bolt was too long just had to ad some washers

by:

I've had these installed about a year now. Have been on trips from Missouri to California and back and another trip to Wyoming/Colorado.New Mexico and back.
Tie downs worked as expected. The installation isn't too bad, having someone to help makes the installation easier.
The one thing that could be better is that you have to fish bolts thru the frame to install these -- that wasn't too bad but I'm not sure how you would ever get them back out to move to another vehicle. I trade pickups every few years and would want to move them from one to the other.
I guess I'll cross that bridge when the time comes.

Ok its been another year. The tiedowns are still working great. I did sell 2018 F250 and managed to fish the bolts back thru the frame. A couple of them I had to cut a slot into the end of the bolt to hold it with a screw driver while loosening the nut. It would be helpful if the threaded end had a slot or smaller head on it for a wrench. I just bought a 2020 F350 Dually that these will go back on in a few weeks.
