Video Transcript for Review of TorkLift Camper Tie-Downs - Rear Tie-Downs - TL94YR

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Torklift custom rear frame mounted camper tie downs. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2019 and newer Ford Ranger trucks with the six foot bed, without the running board, or the step underneath the truck bed, and the factory installed hitch. And on a custom fit part like this, I like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now, these tie-downs will provide the attachment points at the rear of your truck for securing your bed mounted camper to your vehicle.

The front tie-downs we do sell separately. One of the tie-downs will go on the driver's side. And one goes on the passenger side. And the two holes right here that are on the tied out inserts, this will allow you to connect your turnbuckles from your camper to your truck, and not interfere with anything on your vehicle. There's also two holes here on the shank of the insert, which will allow for different width campers.

Right now, I have it on the first hole so it sticks out a little bit further for a wider camper. If you've got a narrower camper, you could slide it further into the second hole, pin it, and then it'll work on a narrower camper. This will let you feel dramatic improvement with vehicle handling and stability. It is the safest way to haul a truck camper. It'll help prevent vehicle sway and camper movement in all directions. This'll let you haul your truck camper confidently by attaching your tie-downs to the strongest part of the truck, which is the frame, and vehicle manufacturers do recommend that all full high slide in camper bodies be directly attached to the vehicle frame structure.

The frame mounted design ensures excellent handling by securing the camper to the truck's base instead of its bed, which will better distribute the weight to keep the setup from being too top heavy. Also helps avoid bed and bumper damage that's common with other tie-downs systems. Now this is a fast, no drill installation. Securing your truck camper to your truck helps you maintain the value of your truck and prevent any rust or bed damage by avoiding drilling into your truck bed or bumper. As I mentioned, it is custom fit for your vehicle, has a driver's side and passenger side brackets. These mounting brackets will fit tight to your truck frame, and there's no loss of ground clearance so it's perfect for off road truck camping.

And they are virtually undetectable when they're not in use. Basically these tie-down inserts, pull the pin, and can easily remove from the frame mounted brackets with the pins. And you can see these will be underneath. So the hidden design of these brackets returns your truck to its original look when they're not being used as tie-downs. And then when you go to use them as tie-downs, you just slide this insert in, here's the two holes I mentioned. So if you slide it in, line it up with the hole on the mounting bracket, and if you line the first hole up, that'll get you for the wider camper, slide it all the way to the second hole, line the hole up with the pin, slide it through and clip it. And just like that, you're ready to go.These are steel construction. They have a nice black powder coat finish on them for durability, and it includes everything laid out here on the table. Includes the two rear tie-down inserts, the two frame brackets, all the necessary hardware and a nice set of instructions on how to install everything. And these parts are made in the USA.But that should do it for the review on the Torklift custom rear frame mounted camper tie-downs.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

My brother installed these and he used air tools. The brackets fit perfectly. The instructions were thorough. They bolted right in and the only delay was the disconnect/reconnect of the e-brake cable to install the driver's side bracket (2019 RAM 3500). After all the parts were laid out, he installed all 4 brackets in an hour.
He commented many times on the weight, high quality and PERFECT FIT of these brackets. These are worth the price and made in the USA.

Comments
These are still working perfectly.

Forklift tie downs are manufactured to exact fit to existing manufactured frame rail holes. They lined up perfectly and after 6000 miles with camper on board have stayed secure. The only downside, (this is relative to when and ware you use you camper) they will corrode when driving through snow covered roads that have been treated with sand and/or salt. I use an oil based product to protect them corroding.

I bought this when my previous belly bar and rear tie-down bent badly when our truck slid off the road into a steep ditch and our camper nearly tipped sideways off our truck. This product is a bit better then my old set up, but I expected something much better for this very high price. It wasn't too tough to install, despite the poorly written instructions. Also, the kit did not include a bolt fisher for the 7/16 bolt. The bolt fisher supplied was for a 1/2 inch bolt. Fortunately I had the correct bolt fisher from a previous project. I am also disappointed that the tie down hole has a slot cut in it which seems would significantly weaken it. I am not optimistic that the tie-down point will not bend or break if we have a similar significant side load such as when we slid into the ditch. I will probably weld the slot in the tie-down point shut to strengthen it.

Comments
They are starting to rust significantly. That is very disappoint considering the very high cost of these. It is interesting that they dont allow pictures of the product for this update.

I had the mountings professionally attached to the frame. The hatches can be easily removed when not in use( and I would recommend that to keep them from being stolen). Using chains and turnbuckles, I feel very comfortable with my truck camper staying where it is.. does not rock, very solid.
It’s nice to feel secure about my camper staying firmly attached.
It was worth the investment.

Easy to install and super secure! Made my Lance 1020 feel like its part of my truck. Highly recommended for the juggernaut class truck campers. I’ll never go back to the stake pocket style or bed mount tie downs again.

Comments
1 year later, Im still very pleased. Ive gotten many positive comments from people that didnt know they existed and, after talking to me, plan on upgrading themselves.

Feel strong and solid with the camper but already seeing some rust in places. Wish the aluminum had been in stock.

Easy install on a 2017 Ford F-350 Lariat w/ factory hitch.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

The rear mounts were easy to mount. The only problem the package was missing 4 flat washers. I also just received the Front mounts. They were a little harder to mount by myself. Some advice is to watch the install on [video]. I ended up using a floor Jack to hold the mounts.

This installation was easy. If installation is on F250, the additional notched plates must be attached to the tie-downs. This prevents rotation inside the receiver tube. A couple of ratchet extensions will be required to hold the bolt head. The finished installation is secure and looks good. The welding appearance could be better, but seems strong enough.

Comments
The tie downs are still secure and work great. These rear tie downs will get alot of road grime and mud, so keep them clean.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

The Torklift frame mounted camper tie down so far seems to be a good fit, with one exception. I have full length round tube nerf running boards, that extend past the cab. I had to remove them to make room for the tie down bracket. I even purchased the bracket that allows clearance for running boards, but round tube type boards are a totally different deal. At the end of the day it isn’t a deal breaker, I’ll just purchase cab length running boards. I gave the review 4 stars instead of 5, because I think this is a detail Torklift should had accounted for. It is very likely if my boards were flat, the brackets would had cleared.

Installed front hitch in front and rear tie-downs.
Solid as a rock and easy to install

I paired these with the front mounts and am totally pleased. Easy to install and simple to use. I would recommend these for any size camper, not just the juggernaut class ones. They keep your camper rock solid and not wallowing around like you see some of the bed-mounted brackets.

Bought these as I needed rear tiedowns for my camper. Instructions easy to read and the tiedowns were a pretty easy install. Worked great on our 1800 mile trip last summer. Highly recommend these Torklift tiedowns.

Easy install, very effective way to keep the camper were it's supposed to be. Just bought a new truck and ordered another set for it. As long as I have a bed mounted camper I will be using this tie down system.

I installed a TorkLift Eco Hitch on the front of my F250. It sits higher than most front hitches. I need this drop receiver to lower my motorcycle below my line of sight! VERY heavy duty!

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

This was a no-drill installation on a 2020 Ram 3500 using factory bolt locations. If your truck has a Mopar retractable bumper step, it must be removed in order to install the driver side tie-down. In my application, carrying a Lance 650, the draw-bar extended out too far from the truck. I had to drill another hole in the draw-bar so that there was clearance for my TorkLift Fastguns to attach.

Review from a similar Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

Steve Z at etrailer was sharp and very knowledgeable on the companies product. Steve was able to work with me on getting the proper camper tie downs for my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 (Item #TLD3107). He told me when they would be arriving and they actually arrived earlier than expected. Great product, install was pretty easy, I had them installed within an hour. This is a very high quality product with heavy duty construction. They provide a secure attachment for tie downs to the truck camper. The instructions provided are adequate, but not great. I Don't normally give recommendations or endorse products, but these I am truly impressed with. Thank you so much Steve and etrailer.

After reviewing my options to hold a 3500lb trailer on my truck. I decided these were the only option. They are more expensive then the other options that bolt to the body and the bumper, But much more secure.
The install was fairly easy, Customer service from etrailer was awesome. When not in use they are barely visible. Great product, worth every penny!
Thanks again
