Video Transcript for Ultra-Fab Motor Homes Slide-Out Supports Review

Randy: Hey guys, it's Randy here at etrailer.com. Now a common problem we get with campers are the slide-outs. And as you can see the slide-outs we have here, aren't very deep, but some of these can come out three, four, and five feet. When they get out that far, they want to hang down. They want to sag. Now that can put excess stress on those rollers and our mechanism down below, but also at the top, as they lean out, you can start to see some cracking and things like that in your fiberglass.

All of those things are negative things that we don't really want. Either you're going to be changing hardware unnecessarily underneath or you are you going to have to worry about leaks and things like that. Now by using these stabilizers, whether you've got a new camper and you just want to take really good care of it and ensure that you never have an issue, or you have an older camper that already has some of that sag going on, we can use these to either slightly raise that slide out backups or everything's nice and level again, or keep it from ever happening at all.Now these are going to come in a two-pack. You can see on our taller slide here, we're using the taller set. Now, this is going to be, what I'd consider, a pretty small slide.

It's just the bed that kind of comes out here. You can see in this case, we're just going to use one of them. On our medium slide here, you can see we're using two of them. And I would really go with the number of tracks that you have. The number of tracks that come out underneath, that's probably going to give you a pretty good idea of how many you're going to need.

I think you can get up into some that are larger than this. Maybe, the whole side of the RV here, in that case, maybe three or four is the better option. Now, not only do these help support the slides, but they're also going to give us some stability.Anytime you level out your camper, you get your stabilizers down. Then you move your slide outs that can give you just a little bit of wiggle side to side. So, not only are these going to help make sure that your RV is either level in the slides, that we don't have any damage occurring from using them often, but it also helps to stabilize it a little bit and it'll help you to, kind of, enjoy your camping experience a little bit more because you just don't have to worry about that movement.

Now we do have three size options to pick from just based on how high your slide is up off the ground. Over here, we're using the larger ones. Now those are anywhere from 26 inches up to 47. Over here, we've got our mid range, those are 21 to 37 and we also have them that'll go 16 inches up to 28 inches. So I would measure from the ground to the bottom of your slide and whatever that measurement is, try to hit one of those right there in the middle of that range. So, if it's a little lower, we've got room, if it's a little bit higher, we've got room. Also to help ensure that this lasts for a very long time, of course, it is going to be under a slide so the elements aren't going to get to it that much. But, we do have a clear Zinc finish on the support up here at the top and the screw coming down. We've got our plastic nut here that we turned and that's what expands it, so no corrosion issues there. I really don't even think you're going to have to worry about greasing these. Unlike the Lipper ts, I think you probably would there. Then we're going to have the black powdered-coat steel finish here. Nice heavy duty base. It's going to come down to our round pad here on the bottom. Now, this is going to work out really well, I think in most situations that we're going to be camping in. With the exception of getting out on sand, getting out on some softer dirt. For those situations, I think picking up some of the Ultra-Fab leveling blocks would be a good idea. You can just stack a couple of those up and place it underneath there to help ensure that you're not going to have any sinking type issues. The stabilizers are going to come as a two-pack. So just be sure you pick up what you need and they have a 700 pound per Jack capacity. So, for each pair that we're using, we're going to get 1400 pounds of static holding capacity. Then there are other stabilizers like these available, the Lipper components, Jack in the box is another good one. Now, those do have a higher weight rating. So let's take a look at the differences between what we're looking at here and what those are. So overall you can see very, very similar design. The top portion here that mates up with our camper is going to be a little bit narrower than what we get out of the Ultra-Fab it's a little bit wider here. The capacity on these for the shorter version is 6,000 pounds, on the larger one it's 10,000 pounds. Unless you know, we're not trying to lift up the camper, we're not trying to do anything like that with these we're just doing stabilization. I think that's really just overkill. Something else you'll notice here, to get these to extend, we've got this nut. So if we have to go from lower down all the way up, it's going to take you some time to do that. That's why my recommendation, going either with the Jack in the box string Lipper or the ones from Ultra-Fab, would definitely be the ones from Ultra-Fab. I think 1400 pounds per set is plenty of capacity for even some of the larger slides out there. And I just really like the ease of use we get with those over these. You hit the button, you extend it up, you rotate it. Overall, it's a much easier and much quicker system to use. So that would definitely be my fit. Now when installing our stabilizers, these are meant to fit on the tracks that come out. You can decide though, to move them further out towards the corner, if you want to kind of widen it a little bit. I wouldn't run these right up against the bottom of the slide though, you would just be putting a lot of pressure on these two points.I think laying a one by four or a two by four rather in here, that's going to come up a little bit higher would be the better way of doing that, kind of spread it out over a greater area. Regardless of where you pick to place it. We'll bring it in and under and push the white button. Again, that's something I really liked. I think it makes adjusting these very easy. And then at that point, we're just going to turn that a little bit, apply the pressure on there, and we're going to be nice and stable. Now. We're not going to have to worry about all those negative things we talked about earlier..

We had so much trouble with the heavy slide out on our travel trailer going out of adjustment .. The trailer spent more time the first two years in the dealership shop or another rv shop than we had it at home.. When we finally got it repaired for the last time my wife checked the internet and found these slide out supports.. We use these everytime we open the slide out at home or camping in the forest or rv park .. And we havent had anymore trouble .. Wish we found these two years earlier .. Thank You fir a great product ..

Comments
These supports are the best .. We use them everytime the we expand the slide out and they are still holding up .. I see more and more of these advertised but they look so flimsy compared to these we have .... Thanks for a great product ..

So love the product and easy to use/install. This length worked great for my slide out. Installed them today and seem to steady up the slide out. Only issue I found was that when I opened the package, one of the u-shaped brackets was bent. But nothing that a little hammering couldn’t fix. Maybe improve the ends of the packaging to better support the u-shaped parts would be my suggestion.

Fast delivery is always a given with etrailer... Great products and videos for just about everything. The Ultra-Fab slide out supports are just the ticket for supporting my Yakima Skyrise 3. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The Yakima Bed Rock rack that holds my Yakima Skyrise 3, does a great job suspending the tent over the bed of my truck in transport, but when its time to pitch for the evening the Ultra-Fab slide out supports stabilize the Yakima cross bars to accomplish a steady rock solid support for sleeping in the tent. Thanks Guys....

One of the pair works great and one has had a problem from the beginning which I should have contacted supplier about. One doesn't grip the screw post well and releases when I try to tighten it enough to be snug in place under the slide-out. Appears to need the plastic "nut" replaced due to a rounded edge where it should grip the screw post.

Comments
Still have the problem with one of them not gripping the adjustment nut. The other one works well.

Have had a pair of these and like them so I ordered a pair for the other slide. Fast and easy to setup. Good product and good people to do business with.

Comments
I already had a pair of these and they worked great . I had 2 slides so ordered another pair but traded that RV for another and never did use them. Its a good product though.

Using these on the rear bumper of my Jayco Melbourne to stabilize the rear of the rig rather than on the slide (Jayco does not recommend stabilizers under the slide on this model). These are effective and quick/easy to set up. They take very little storage space to stow. Enjoyed the usual efficient service from etrailer.

They do as advertised just wish they had the ability to lift up the slide to help level but you still need a jack to level and then set supports.

Review from a similar Slide-Out Supports in Camper Jacks

I recently purchased a 1/5 wheel travel trailer with 5 slides. It was recommended that I should put slide supports under the bigger slides. After researching, I decided the Ultra-Fabs would do the job. I received them on Thursday and installed 2 sets that afternoon. I followed the guidelines and set them in less than 30 minutes. Friday afternoon I installed the rest. I know they did a good job because my wife's first comment was "the trailer doesn't bounce when you walk across the floor". That was the best test. She didn't know what I was doing under the trailer. They were easy to install, 1 plastic leveling block, the support, and a short level. Set the block under the slid rail at the outermost end, hold the support on it and pull the top up until it touches the rail. Holding the top against the rail with the ears on the sides of the rail. With 1 hand, push the white button and slide the lock ring down against the bottom housing and release the button. Plumb the bottom housing with the level. Give the lock ring 1 good turn after it is snug and you are finished.

Comments
A year after installing the Ultra-Fabs, the only problem Ive encountered is the ground settling under the Ultra-Fabs. 1to2 turns on the lock rings cured the problem of them being loose. Ive recommended these Ultra-Fabs to many RVers Ive encountered over the past year.

Review from a similar Slide-Out Supports in Camper Jacks

I'm giving a 4 out of 5 because of a known manufacture defect. Some of them contain a nut that is defective and will not allow the gear to have pressure applied. Etrailer to the rescue!! and they did :-) I was very excited last weekend when I went out for the first time this year. Cleared a spot from the snow covered ground, placed a pad and then the support, pressed, lifted, two or three turns and done. LOVE IT. on to the next support, did the same thing but the support wouldn't stay up. Everytime I tried turning it it would skip back down. I looked around but couldn't find anything wrong. I contacted etrailer.com once I got home and within an hour, they had contacted Ultra-Fab, sent me instructions on how to replace the defective part and I got an email the next day from UPS saying the item shipped!!!!! Well done etrailer and Ultra-Fab.. I dropped 1 start because I think for the cost of a nut, Ultra-Fab should be sending them out to be shipped with the item instead of waiting to see which ones are failing.. not too big a deal, I am impressed with the quick response but more impressed with how quickly etrailer handled it all. THANK YOU!

Review from a similar Slide-Out Supports in Camper Jacks

Well, this would fall under the "you get what you pay for". My husband and I had purchased a different set of these off of E-bay from a vendor swearing they were a "name brand" without the "name brand" and thus were cheaper. We didn't bother to do a test run until 1 year later. **yes, I know DUMB** SO, we are getting ready to go camping and low and behold the cheapo's don't work and won't hold. I panic and find "etrailer" and order this set as they come with a manufacturers lifetime guarantee. Well, hubby put them up and said "NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE". So....they are hubby approved and LET ME SAY THIS: "etrailer" went ABOVE AND BEYOND to get this set of supports to us quickly. I had written to them and stated we needed them by weeks end and they upgraded my shipping for FREE and we got them in plenty of time. I can't even begin to express my gratitude at their EXCELLENT customer service. AND....I didn't even have to call them....they just did it all via e-mail. As for these Ultra-Fab supports? Well, I would imagine this will be the LAST set we will need. (lifetime guarantee.....gotta love that!) **we have a 29 foot travel trailer with a slide that has our sofa and dining table and that is where these will be used**

Love it. It has worked great for me. Would recommend it to my friends.

Comments
The slide out supports that I purchased a year ago, are still very much functional, and they have held the weight on my huge Lowery organ., I would buy these again and recommend them . They have held the weight very well.

Review from a similar Slide-Out Supports in Camper Jacks

This product has been just ok. The plastic tightening should not be made of plastic, they slip sometimes. Otherwise, the product works as intended. We live full time in our RV and these are consistently in use. We do appreciate the way the trailer feels when the slide out Jack's are in use, feels solid and eliminates 80% of the bounce as people walk around or grandkids jump. We would reccomend this product type to our friends. We love Etrailer and the ease of finding the products we are in search of.

  • Slide Out Support For Travel Trailer
The first step to choosing the right slide out supports for your camper is to measure how high off the ground your slide outs are when your camper is on level ground. Slide out supports are adjustable to fit different heights, so even if you park on uneven ground, the supports will still fit under your camper as long as you choose your support with your level-ground height in the middle of the range. For weight capacity, the slide out support only has to support the weight of your slide...

  • Will Using Front to Back and Side to Side Stabilizers and Jacks Damage the Frame on a Trailer
Stabilizer jacks such as # UF39-941705 are not meant to do any lifting, just support weight and make it NOT feel like you are on a boat when you move about inside your trailer. So the chance of causing frame damage to the trailer is statistically zero. There is no specific place you have to mount the stabilizer so it can be as near or far from the wheels as it has to be. You will want to place it in the frame where the side to side movement is most likely. We also have slide-out...
