The box arrived pretty beat up. After inspection I only found that a tab that doesn't get used on the motor bracket was broken. Installation of the jacks to the original weld brackets fit well and was reasonably painless. I did have to cut off the edge of both the motor bases to allow new jack legs to set firmly against trailer frame. The left side motor emergency override had to be installed facing rearward because both legs are built identical meaning the weld tabs and pull pin tabs were the same as the right side jack. Not a huge issue for me because I had the room for the left jack to be installed that way. Not a huge speed difference noticed yet but I'm not expecting a whole lot as my trailer is a heavy toyhauler. The thing that I really like is each jack has its own motor unlike the original single motor Atwood system allowing me to level left and right individually and having less chances of failure. I realy didn't want to cut another hole in my trailer so I fabricated a different switch plate for the switches and circuit breakers that fit in the original lockable jack control box. My biggest complaint and disappointment is that the pull pin bracket on both jacks came installed upside down so the open area for the pull pin covering the spring is facing up and a spot for water and grime to collect but, when I recognized that the jacks were already installed and I wasn't going to pull everything apart at that point.

Comments
Jacks are working great. They do raise and lower quite a bit faster than the original jack system. Wish I had done the upgrade sooner..

I am very pleased with the Reese electric 5th wheel landing gear - 8000 pounds. Installation was a little difficult because the motor flange/mount was initially hitting one of the camper’s steel members. Using a side grinder, I was able to cut off the corner (maybe 1.5x1.0 inch cut) off the each motor mount, which I felt would not harm the integrity of the motor / landing gear in any way. The installation was then straight forward. I was able to use the original weld brackets, which made installation easier. The speed while extending is rated at 9 inches of lift per minute, and I would say that is about right (although I did not actually measure it). For the electrical panel, I wanted to fit in the same enclosure as the original panel, but it was too wide. So I took tin snips and trimmed approximately 0.5 inches from each side of the panel. The trimmed panel fit perfectly into the old enclosure…. see attached photo.

I had purchased this Reese landing gear system to replace the original Atwood landing gear that I had damaged. Atwood has gone out of business and their landing gear legs are much taller than anyone other manufacturer. I did not want the cross bar that connects the landing gear drive on a single motor system to run directly across the storage access door so this Reese landing gear with the dual motors worked great. I had to weld additional tabs on to the landing gear legs so that the existing mounting brackets would work but this was not that difficult verses cutting out the existing brackets and welding new brackets into the 5th wheel itself. After the install was complete these new legs actually extend higher than the old unit and they actually retract up further toward the bottom of the 5th wheel. I was able to find the landing gear system for less on [online] but etrailer matched the price and gave me an additional 10% off the difference in the price from [onlline] Shipping was relatively quick about 5-7 days.

by:

To be fair, I haven’t used this product yet. The box arrived damaged with very poor packaging. Once opening within an hour of receiving it was discovered that it was missing the self adjusting feet, the spring loaded pins for locking the telescopic legs in place and the controls were damaged beyond used due the heavy legs rolling around the inside of the box during shipping. To make matters worse etrailer would only promise the shipping of the missing and damaged parts within 24-48 hours using 2 day shipping. This is unacceptable for a $xxx purchase.

by:

I installed these jacks on my 2008 Hartland Cyclone. I went from a one motor system (with many many problems) to this dual motor (one per leg) and its the best decision ever. The installation was not easy and I had to modify the leg stop because of how my rig legs where original set up. That being said they work excellent.

by:

On an older forest river 32' 5th wheel, pretty heavy trailer. Works amazing, so much better than the original jacks.

by:

The Reese landing gear is a great upgrade from the stock Lippert landing gear.
Not happy with the shipping. Ordered on June 1 and was told it would ship on June 3. The shipping date changed 4 times. I called and complained and told etrailer that if the shipping date changed again, I would cancel my order and buy from [online store]. It shipped the next day. It took etrailer two weeks to ship an item they had in stock. Not happy.

These lifted my Wolfpack 335pack13 fifth wheel toy hauler like it was nothing. Great improvement over o.e.

by:

Fast shipping and great product. Install was easy excluding 2 things (which is my I have 4 stars). 1. One of the nuts for the landing gear leg release wasn't the right size. I had to get one that fit. Quality control issue as it was inside a sealed bag. 2. I wish there had been measurements to show the width of the motors. My prior landing gear sat flush against the inside walls of my RV compartment whereas, these needed ~3/4 inches of spaces due to motor design. Minor fabrication allowed me to get past this but it's wasn't 100% just bolt on.

Overall, the performance of these vs my factory landing gear seem far superior and they move much faster as well as smoother. I'm. Big fan so far.

by:

The screw jacks fit pretty well in same brackets as Atwood System was in. I had to cut off the edge of the motors bases to allow new jack legs to set firmly against trailer frame.
The ONE THING I was disappointed in was the cheap control board that came with the system. It has 4 buttons and two of them are not even secured to the face of the control board. So when you push those two, they just push out the back. Poor

Works as promised. It was easy to install and the instructions were very clear and concise.

by:

With a slight modification this product has worked excellent for me

by:

Jacks went in easy using the existing brackets from my single motor jacks. Just had to install a new switch panel ( since these are independently adjustable ) and run an additional power lead since these call for individual power and ground leads for each motor. They are 4 times faster than my original single motor jacks. These claim to raise 9 inches a minute and I believe that's about correct.

If you have 17-1/2 inches between the inside of the frame clamps on your current landing gear setup (or 17-1/2 inches from outside to outside of the weld stops on your trailer) the Reese Landing Gear Set part # RP500708 would fit without having to weld new stops on your trailer.

To make sure the Reese Electric Fifth Wheel Landing Gear, # RP500708 will fit your trailer you will need to take a measurement. In order for this landing gear to fit the distance between the bottom of the upper clamp and the top of the lower clamp needs to be 17-1/2 inches.
