Ball Screw Technology

The Phoenix electric trailer jack uses ball screw technology. Instead of raising and lowering the jack with a standard Acme screw, the Phoenix incorporates a strong threaded steel rod with ball bearings. These ball bearings roll along threads between the rod and the nut, so there is no direct surface-to-surface contact between the rod and the nut. This extends the life of the electric jack by creating less friction along the threads, which leads to less heat and wear. As a result, the motor is able to operate more efficiently, leading to improved performance and increased longevity.

Manual Override Feature

An important feature with any electric jack is the manual override option. The Phoenix electric trailer jack is equipped with a 9/16" deep well socket that can be used with your electric drill to raise and lower your jack in case of a power failure. Just insert into the end of the drive collar and ratchet clockwise to retract and counterclockwise to extend.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Phoenix Electric Trailer Jack with the included remote. This electric jack lets you lift and lower your A frame trailer quickly and easily. It has lift capacity of 5,500 pounds. There's a few things that makes this jack a little bit different than anything else out there on the market. One, it comes with a wireless remote, so that way you can control and operate the jack from a distance. We have the LED lights, which are becoming pretty popular and pretty common on trailer jacks.

Those allow for easy hookup and disconnecting in low light or nighttime settings. One of the things I do like about this is the buttons right here are push buttons, so they're not toggles, so that way they don't easily break off. And they're a flush design, and they're kind of hidden underneath this housing right here, so they're going to be protected. They're very easily accessible. And you have two memory functions on this jack. So those are hitch memory functions that will be used to store your hitch height and weight distribution system height to make hooking up simple.

Again, two memory settings, so that it'll automatically return your trailer to the position at which you unhooked, which is a nice design. Makes hooking up and disconnecting quick and easy the next time you're ready to do so. Two wire design. Red wire for power. Black wire for ground.

Also comes with an inline fuse holder. It's a 30 amp fuse that can be installed there on the main power wire, which is your red wire. Really nice design. Right here on top you have a cap that can be removed in case of power failure. This gives you access to the manual override.

And it does come with the socket adapter right here. So that way you can use the . or you can use a drill to raise and lower the jack. A manual crank handle is not included, but you can get one. They are sold separately. So, real quick, I just want to go over a few technical features of the jack. It has a lift capacity of 5,500 pounds. It features an efficient ball screw design, which makes it fast and easy to position your trailer. So internally there's a ball bearing system, so there's multiple bearings, ball bearings, that roll along a sturdy, threaded steel rod. That's what moves it up and down. Power drive provided quiet operation and eliminates the need for hand cranking. Again, it's got the easy to access control panel right here. So you've got your up and down. You've got your LED light. You've got memory one and memory two. Wireless capability is a great included feature, with that included remote that allows you to operate the jack from a distance. When it comes to the construction, up here is classic, so it has a plastic housing, but the main components, like the tall stem here, the bracket, the outer tube, inner tube, the drop leg, and the foot plate, that's all steel. So it's very strong and durable. And everything is coated with protective finishing to keep it safe from rust and corrosion. So you have zinc coating, and we have black powder coating. It's a bolt on installation. Mounting hardware not included, but it does have the standard mount pattern for A frame trailers. Nice, large mounting plate as well. Now, the overall height of the unit, I measured from the bottom to the very top with it fully retracted, I got a measurement of 37-3/4". From the bottom of the bracket, which would be on top of whatever mounting surface of your trailer, from the bottom of that bracket to the top of the jack is 27".Now, the bracket height with it in the fully retracted position, that's the basically the measurement from the bottom of the foot plate to the bracket right here, that's going to give us a measurement of 10-1/2". With it all the way extended, we have a total lift of around 26" with this jack, which is really, really tall, but the screw travels around 21". And then this drop leg provided an additional 4-1/2". So I want to show you that drop leg real quick. It is included. And then on the bottom of the drop leg, we have the included foot plate, which does a great job at spreading out the applied weight, really helps prevent sinking on softer surfaces. So that's our drop leg. Our drop leg has a four mount hole design. And we have 1-1/2" measurement on center between each hole. So if you add all those up, 1-1/2", 1-1/2". 1-1/2", that's going to give you a drop leg travel of around 4-1/2".So again, total lift around 26" with the screw travel being 21", drop leg travel being about 4-1/2". And then again, incremental height adjustment of 1-1/2". Outer tube diameter on the unit's 2-1/4". Foot plate diameter is 7". When it comes to the motor, this is 12V motor, offers 10" of travel in about 47 seconds. So it's very fast compared to some of the other ones out there on the market. I'm going to go ahead and hook it up to power that way you can see what it sounds like, how it operates, all that good stuff. Now, there's a few key features that I really like about the control panel. You can push the extend button and operate it that way. And then when you let off, it stops operating. Or, if you need to travel quite a distance, you can push that extend button twice and it'll go on its own hands free. Then whenever you want to stop it, you can just hit one of the buttons there and it'll turn it off.Same with retract. You can hold it down and then it lets off when you let off. Or you can double tap it. And then when you're ready to stop you just hit the button. It also has an automatic shutoff so you don't overextend or over retract the unit. LED light located right there. Nice, bright design. I'll turn it off. You can see there, it illuminates at a downward angle, so it's going to illuminate the coupler area. When you're ready to use the remote, all you've got to do is hit that on and off button three times fast. Blue light will come on. And I can control my LED light. I can also do my extend. Same thing, you can double tap it and it'll go automatically. And you can do retract. You can also double tap that and take your finger off the button as well. So overall, really nice design. It's got some smart features built into it. Makes it a very nice, easy jack to use, and control, and operate. That's going to do it for today's look at the Phoenix Eclectic Trailer Jack with remote.

I purchased this product to replace one that has given me good service for several years but which I felt I was working it to close to its limits. My selection of this electric tongue jack was for it's 5500 Lb rated load capability but I do like both the remote control unit (that comes with it) as well as the Jack's face plate controls that also have a memory function for both up and down positions. I was surprised how well the unit worked with the factory memory calibration settings for my application which made the installation go much faster. While I had to run an extra 10 guage ground wire back to the battery, I like that they do this to make sure there is no possible chance of the jack motor not being properly grounded. The only reason I did not give it all 5 stars is because I reserve the highest rating until I am able to see from experience that it is warranted. 703648

We got the jack installed on the trailer. So far I am happy with it. Easy to program the position memory buttons and no issues doing so. My only concern is if we have a power failure, cranking the jack by hand is next to impossible. Time will tell, with the warranty, I'm not concerned. If it fails, I will let you know! 683042

Best jack out there. The fast up and down speed along with the 2-button memory makes this jack the best one out there in my opinion. Mine had 2 memory buttons (a lot of the promo material suggested only 1 memory button) so I can set one for the extended/hitching position, and a second for the fully retracted position. Thus, I never need to hold extend/retract...rather I just hit one of the memory buttons and it does the rest. Huge time saver. To set the memory on mine I hold the desired memory button and wait for the light to flash red (not green like the manual said). The drop foot is also a nice feature. I would strongly recommend this jack. 289214

This is the best jack I have had (and I seem to have gone thru quite a few). It was a quick and easy install for a replacement and I have found it is the fastest jack to raise or lower my hitch. It is also one of the quietest I have ever used. Great for early morning packing and not waking up all the neighbors. :) The jack seems a lot stronger than other jacks I have used and better built with less plastic on it than most. Would definitely replace any manufacture supplied jack on a new trailer with this one again on a heartbeat! 294153

I have had a problem with the switch on this jack. It was the first generation of the jack. I spoke with Ultrafab and they replaced the whole jack with a new one without any issue to correct the issue. I am very impressed with the Jack and especially the great customer service! Cant be beat!

This Jack is crazy fast. Moves smooth and doesn't seem to struggle in the slightest. My only concern is that there is no positive power shut off. Im an electronics tech and ive seen touch buttons like this fail in moisture environments. This seems well built but I didn't want it moving down when driving so a simple on off switch was added. Concern solved. 645200

  • Troubleshooting Ultra-Fab Phoenix Electric Tongue Jack That Won't Extend or Retract
The Ultra-Fab Phoenix Electric Trailer Jack with Remote- 5,500 lbs # UF38-944055 or 4,000 lb # UF38-944040 without remote sounds like it may have a mechanical issue. I recommend using the manual crank to extend or lower the jack. If you can use this, then you isolate the issue to electrical with a possible bad ground or motor issue. If you can't physically move the jack with the manual crank then we know the issue is mechanical with the inner rod seized or having stripped threads. If...

  • Recommendation on an Electric Trailer Tongue Jack to Fit a Concessions Trailer Weighing 10K
When looking to purchase an electric trailer jack, there are a few features you want to keep in mind when comparing between brands. Power draw, weight capacity, and maximum lift height will be the features that will be important in deciding on the correct jack application that will work for your needs. With this in mind, the jack that I recommend with the information that you provided is the Ultra-Fab Phoenix, # UF38-944055. The jack has a lift capacity of 5,500 lbs and a total lift...

  • Electric Trailer Jack With Dead Battery on Trailer
No, your Phoenix Electric Trailer Jack with Remote # UF38-944055 is not able to operate while connected to your truck if the trailer battery is dead, since drawing power from the truck battery via the 7 way connector will most likely overload the jack and blow a fuse. The electric jack should only rely on the trailer battery to be operated. In order to operate your electric trailer jack, you'll need to connect the trailer to the vehicle or connect the battery to an external charging...

  • Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack with the Most Lift for a 7.5K Trailer and 2013 Ford F-250
Basically, the higher the capacity of the jack used the easier it will be for the jack to operate and the longer it will last. The highest capacity A-frame jack that we have is # UF38-944055. It's rated up to 5,500 pounds and also has the highest lift of any of our jacks at 26 inches. A trailer that weighs 7,500 pounds would have a tongue weight around 750 to 1,125 pounds (10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight) so a jack rated for 4,000 or 4,500 pounds could handle it with ease.

It has a power wire that will attach to the positive battery terminal or to the 12 volt circuit at a junction box (if the trailer is equipped with one). The other wire is then attached to the negative side of the battery. Another option is Ultra-Fab jack # UF38-944037 which plugs into a 7-Way trailer connector to get its power from the 12 volt circuit. This jack is rated for 3,500...

  • Trailer Jack Just Clicks and Will Not Raise Trailer
The first thing I recommend checking on the jack is the power source. If the battery that runs the jack is low on power then it will be hard for the jack to lift the trailer (lowering it tends not to be a problem because gravity is helping) and it may just refuse to do anything. If the voltage on the battery is good and the wiring is all intact then it is possible that the jack had been over extended at some point and the screw and/or nit inside is damaged. This would mean that a replacement...
