Video Transcript for Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Review

Speaker 1: Today you'll be getting a look at and seeing how to install the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set, with a quantity of two, part number JSC-24. They're also available in a quantity of one, with part number JSC-24-IND.You can bet on this pair of jacks. These scissor jacks from Stromberg Carlson are great for stabilizing and leveling your camper. As you can see, if your trailer is out of level, you can use your scissor jacks to level it. Check it out. Much better.

As you can see, without your scissor jacks engaged, there's a lot of movement in your trailer. With your scissor jacks engaged, all that extra movement is gone. They're adjustable between four and 24 inches and they have a 5000 pound weight capacity per jack. You can easily raise and lower them with the included crank handle. It's going to work out great on most surfaces.

As you can see, we're on concrete here. The bow-tie base is going to keep it steady even on soft surfaces. They're a bolt-on or weld-on installation. We'll go ahead and show you how to bolt them on now. Here you can see our old rusted out stabilizer jack. It's bent.

We're going to be replacing it. I've gone ahead and removed the old stabilizer. Let's bring in our new one. With our new one, you can see it's got multiple mounting locations. It's completely universal.

Now, you may or not be able to use your same mounting holes and locations. What you need to do is hold it up and figure out where it's going to work best. Now, once you've found a good location to install your stabilizer jack, you want to be sure that you can still easily access your drive nut, which is going to raise and lower your stabilizer jack. You'll want to raise your jack up to where it's making contact with your frame where you want to install it. Then you can mark your holes. Now, there are six holes on each side. I'm only going to be using four total, two on each side. You can use whichever holes work out best for you. Once you've got your holes marked, go ahead and move the jack out of the way, and then you can begin drilling out your holes. I'm going to be drilling out quarter-inch holes. If you'd like to, you can use a pilot bit and then drill out your final size. All right. With all those drilled out, you can go ahead and install your stabilizer jack. You will have to provide your own hardware.I'm just using some quarter-inch bolts with some flat washers and lock nuts. Now you can bring your jack back in and align your holes. Now you'll just loosely install all your hardware. Now we can tighten up our hardware. Now you can raise up your jack and it's ready for when you need it. That's going to complete your look at the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack set.

These are great - they fit the existing mounting holes in the frame (26' Jayco) so they were super easy to install and they function nice and smoothly. 635743

I haven't install the jacks yet. I can't wait. Sick of my old rusty ones. They look great and were packaged well by etrailer. Got here quick. 524772

PLEASE, do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy these jacks... These are cheap Chinese crap. I'm not really sure what they think there good for ie; don't Jack a frame or axle. WTF? Right out of the box they are a good looking piece of equipment. Don't be fooled. These Jack are incapable of lifting 50% of stated load. And quite frankly, etrailer customer service was rude when contacted. Don't say nobody warned you! 663947

Comments
Were sorry to hear that you werent happy with your purchase. As stated above in the product description, the jacks arent designed to lift your trailer or RV. Doing so will exceed the capacity of the jacks. They are meant as stabilizers to prevent the trailer from rocking or bouncing around from people walking around in it.

The rear OEM stabilizer jacks on our trailer were nothing but rust after just 5 years. They had never worked well, either, so I was happy to replace them with heavier Stromberg-Carlson jacks. Etrailer had the replacements in shipment the same day I ordered them, and they arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Removing the old jacks took a bit of work, but replacing them was quite fast and easy. It was easy to tell by weight and feel that I was using a far superior product, and although they haven't been field tested yet, I'm sure that they'll do a better job for a much longer time than the OEM equipment. 647595

Although these are sharp, heavy items, they were well packaged and delivered in perfect shape along with some smaller items. They are a perfect fit and direct replacement for the ones that came on the trailer...(which I dragged and bent). Four bolts per and I am good to go! 549341

Ask the Experts about this Stromberg Carlson Camper Jack

  • Replacement Scissor Jack for a 2017 Rpod 179 Hood River Edition
While I do not know which specific jack make and model came on your Rpod originally you can install pretty much any other similar jack, such as Ram Scissor Stabilizer Jack # TJSC-24, as a replacement. The mounting holes likely will not perfectly line up but it wouldn't take much effort to add a new hole or two to properly install the jack. Since the original was also welded I do recommend doing the same with the new jack. Any welding should be done by a professional welder.

  • Stabilizer Jack Recommendation for Stored Boat Trailer To Support While in Storage
Scissor style stabilizer jacks like the Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24 would be your best option. These were designed to stabilize camper trailers but would work great for what you are wanting. I attached a picture of what they look like in use plus a review video for more info as well.

  • How to Use Power Drill to Make Raising and Lower Scissor Jacks for Camper Quicker
Yes, you can use a drill to make raising and lowering the scissor jack set part # JSC-24 a bit quicker. You'll just need the drill adapter part # UF48-979005 too and you'd be set. This basically is a socket attached to a power drill shank. The size socket that comes with this is 3/4 inch. See review video I attached for this as well.

  • Scissor Jack Recommendation to Replaced Damaged Ones on R Pod Trailer
For a pair of stabilizer jacks that would have more than enough capacity that would work well on your R-Pod I would recommend the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Scissor Jacks part # JSC-24. These have a 5k capacity per jack and would do a great job as long as you just use them for stability like you said you would. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

  • Comparing Trailer Jacks and Stabilizers
Jacks and stabilizers differ in that jacks like # PSEA20000103 are intended to lift part/all of the trailer tongue weight while stabilizer jacks like Ultra-Fab Ultra Scissor Jacks # UF48-979002 are intended to support weight and prevent motion (but not to do actual lifting). Even though these stabilizers are each rated for 6500-lbs (far more than your camper's actual weight) you do not want to use them to lift the trailer. Keep in mind that the mounting point where you install them also...

  • Can Leveling Jack be Used to Lift Wheels off the Ground?
A leveling jack such as # JSC-24 is not designed to lift your trailer off the ground, it is only meant to provide support to your camper. To change a tire on your trailer you would want to use a bottle jack such as # ALL620471. I've added a link to video reviews of this product for you to take a look at.

  • Is Lippert Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24 Strong Enough for Trailer with 16,000 Pound GVWR
Using both scissor jacks included with the Lippert Jack Set # JSC-24 will give you a combined weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. Because scissor jacks are only designed to stabilize a portion of the trailer's weight and not its full GVWR these will be plenty strong enough for your 5th wheel camper that typically weighs 12,800 pounds at most. Even if you were to creep up towards the trailer's 16,000 pound GVWR these would still be sufficient. These jacks feature an extended height of...

  • Recommended Leveling Stabilizers to Reduce Bounce When Walking in Trailer
It sounds like your leaf springs are not the issue and changing your springs to a higher capacity could cause a rougher ride when traveling. The bounce or sway has to do with how you set your stabilizer legs and it sounds like they are not supporting enough weight. If you still experience an annoying amount of movement after you add additional load to your stabilizer legs, then you should add additional stabilizers. If you have a slide out, this is really common and you can add a stabilizer...

  • Replacement Stabilizer Jacks for 2020 Rpod 195
I recommend to add Leveling Scissor Jack Set - 24" Lift - 10,000 lbs - QTY 2 # JSC-24 to the Rpod which will give you about 24" of height. When collapsed the jacks are 4" which is about 3/4" shorter than the other options to help with ground clearance. We do not carry a scissor stabilization jack that would store but that is a great idea. To make the Rpod more stable I recommend to use the JT's Strong Arm Jack Stabilizer Kit for Travel Trailers part # LC191025 which will attach the scissor...

  • What is the Difference Between a Stabilizing Scissor Jack and a Leveling Scissor Jack
There is no difference, that is just what the manufacturer decided to label it as. They both do the same job. Both Leveling Scissor Jacks, like part # JSC-24, and Stabilizing Scissor Jacks, like part # TJSCHD-24, are used to keep your RV level and stable. The only thing that you really need to keep an eye on is the weight capacity of each as these kinds of jacks are not meant to lift weight, just to hold it.

Leveling scissor jack set # JSC-24 can support 5000lbs. If you had two sets of these, one on the front of the camper and another on the back of the camper, in addition to the four existing jacks on your camper, you would be able to stabilize and support your trailer that weighs 6000lbs. Each set of these can handle 5000lbs, so if you had two sets you could easily handle the 6000lbs of your trailer.

  • Can the Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24 Lift a Trailer
The Leveling Scissor Jack Set, item # JSC-24, is designed as a leveling, stabilizer jack, that is to be bolted to the frame of the trailer. If you could find a location close enough to the wheel and tire to mount the jack securely, then the 5,000 pound capacity of the jack could be used to do maintenance or change a tire on a 4,000 pound trailer.
