Lippert Ground Control 3.0 installed

Leveling your fifth-wheel RV has never been easier thanks to the Ground Control 3.0 electric leveling system. The motorized leveling legs eliminate the need for labor-intensive, manual scissor jacks. And the auto-level feature takes out the guesswork by automatically and precisely leveling your RV. Whether you use the easy-to-use touchpad or the touchscreen remote, all you have to do is step back and watch as Ground Control 3.0 levels your rig right before your eyes.

Automatic Leveling for Your 5th-Wheel RV

Lippert Ground Control 3.0 touchpad displays Auto Level Success

The auto-level feature provides the easiest, most efficient way to level your rig. With automatic leveling, you don't need to go through the trial and error of referencing levels and manipulating jacks one at a time. Just set the level position (zero-point) once, and the Ground Control 3.0 will bring your RV to that same preset point each time.

When first setting up the Ground Control 3.0 you will need to manually level your RV. With some leveling systems, manipulating the jacks individually can result in damage to your trailer's frame. Ground Control has built-in twist prevention so that you won't have to worry about twisting and damaging your frame.

In addition to automatically leveling your RV, the Ground Control 3.0 can also correctly position your trailer for hookup with the hitch recognition feature. This time-saving function stores your RV's position when you unhook from your tow vehicle so that it can automatically return the RV to that position when you're ready to hitch back up again.

Motorized Jacks with Hall Effect Technology

Lippert Ground Control 3.0 motorized rear jacks and front landing gear

The 4 motorized jacks included with the Ground Control system employ Hall effect technology to precisely and quickly raise and lower your RV. These jacks use sensors to measure the number of motor revolutions per minute instead of amp draw. This allows for more precise control over the motor than you'd have with conventional motorized jacks, which results in more accurate leveling of your trailer.

Manual access ports are located on the bottom and the top of each jack's motor so that the jacks can still be raised or lowered in the event of a power failure. To use these ports you must have a 3/8" drive ratchet and extension (not included). The bottom ports also require a 5/16" socket (not included).

Convenient Operation

Ground Control 3.0 offers 2 convenient ways to level your rig. Whether you use the touchpad or the touchscreen remote, setting up camp is at your fingertips.

Touchpad with Lighted LCD Screen

Lippert Ground Control 3.0 touchpad

The included, easy-to-use touchpad makes leveling your RV as simple as pressing a few buttons. The lighted LCD screen provides helpful prompts and alerts you to the status of the system. There are also indicator lights that let you know what functions are being performed. The touchpad is designed to mount inside of a front-most compartment of your RV. It requires a 3-3/8" wide x 2-3/4" tall cutout in the wall and it secures with the included hardware. Because the touchpad mounts inside the compartment, it will remain protected from the elements while still allowing you to be within viewing distance of your hitch.

Touchscreen Remote

Lippert Ground Control 3.0 touchscreen remote

The included touchscreen remote features a convenient leveling app that lets you operate the Ground Control 3.0 system from up to 50' away. Just sync the remote to the touchpad during installation to ensure that the system is fully integrated. The remote is powered by a long-lasting, non-replaceable lithium-ion battery, and a convenient wall charger is included.

Installation

Upgrading your rig with the Ground Control 3.0 system is simple. The 2 landing gear jacks mount to existing points on your RV and secure with included hardware. The 2 rear jacks come with mounting brackets that bolt onto 8", 10", or 12" I-beam frames with included hardware. Mounting the rear jacks does require drilling. A sensor is also included for the rear jacks. This will be mounted on a crossmember near the rear jacks.

The control module for the system mounts in a compartment under the coach with included hardware. This module has a wiring harness that connects directly to your 12-volt battery. Wiring harnesses are also included that connect the jack motors, rear sensor, and the touchpad to the control module.

Video Transcript for Lippert Ground Control Electric RV Leveling System Manufacturer Demo

In this video we will explain the simple and trouble free process of operating and trouble shooting the LCI 3rd Generation Ground Control Automatic Leveling System. In this video we'll discuss operations, understanding the control panel, errors and the popular auto hitch recognition feature. Let's get started. Jake Wilde will demonstrate this process in today's technical tip.Jake Wilde: Hi. I'm Jake Wild from Lippert Components. I'd like to introduce you to our newest leveling system: Ground Control Generation III.

It's a inaudible 00:00:38 leveling system that is counting revolutions just like our Schwintek Slide. It's a smoother, quieter and more precise leveling operation. Now let's show you an operating tip. First we need to locate our touch panel. In the instance of this coach it happens to be on the inside here. What that touch pad has on it is an on, a front, a left, a right, a rear, a retract button and it has scrolling through there where you can go through and find your angle, you can find your battery voltage, you can go to a retract mode.

Basically this touch panel can tell you a lot about that system and how this system is working. What we're going to do in order to unhook from our truck is we're going to come in, we're going to turn that on and we're going to hit front. We're going to push the front button and we're going to lift the front end up so we can pull the truck away. Once we get it to the desired location, which is above level, then we pull that truck away and we push auto level. What's going to happen then is we're going to run through our leveling sequence. The front is going to level, then the back jacks are going to come down, and then we're going to find that level.

With this new system it's actually going to count and tell us where we're at. It's only going to move it to where it needs to be. With the hull effect sensing here what we're going to do is we're going to move it an inch up on the back left corner, or 1/2" down to effectively level that coach. It's going to be smoother and quieter than our standard electric system. Another thing that this is going to have, when you're done camping, when you go to get ready to pick up our coach and hook back up, you can hit the hitch recognition. The only way that this works is if you started your auto level sequence above level.

If you didn't, this feature will be disabled. It'll come on your touch pad and say that exact, feature disabled. Then you'd have to manually run those up to hook up your truck. Let's get a close up of this, see how it functions when it's going through the auto level features. What we're going to do is we're going to turn that on. We found our touch pad and we've turned it on. It's going to say jacks down. Push this prompt, we're going to raise the front of that coach. Now we're raised up to where the truck is able to pull away. Our next step is to push auto level button. What it's going to do, it's going to check for auto level. It's going to adjust that. The front come up. Now we're going to run the left side. Left side come up. Now our right side is going to come up. We're letting it back down there, to find that level condition. So we found our close to level condition. Now it's going to run both rear jacks down. As you can see that orange light on the bottom is the rear and what that's going to do is it's going to show that we're running those rear jacks. Each time it's showing that orange light, is what function is functioning right now. It picked up the rear. It's on the close to level condition. Now it's going to run your one side. Now it's going to check the other side. It says it looks good there. Now it's going to check the front. It went left to right to make sure that we're set. Checking the back. Auto level success. Just to recap what happened here is we found our touch panel. We turned it on. We pushed front and we unhooked from our truck. We pushed auto level. The front adjusted. Went to the back, then the back adjusted. We did a four-point check on each jack and auto level success. Now let's go and we'll show you the features that are in the touch panel. Showing on here, we've got jacks down. We can scroll through this screen here. It's going to show our battery voltage. Battery voltage is at 13 8 which is a great battery voltage. Our next one is the rear, left and right. It's showing the extension of those jacks. The left rear is 9.1 and the right rear is 9.0. We're in a pretty level situation. That's why we're so close. If our campsite was off a little bit it would be 7" on the left and 9" on the right. That's fine. It's just telling you where are the jacks and how far they're extended. Our next screen is going to show us our front jacks. How far them front jacks are stroked 00:05:34. You got 2" on the left front and 1.5" on the right. Remember, that's what this system does. It tells you how far you're traveling to level. That's what those things are for. The next screen is showing us our angle. Our tilt is 0.0 and our angle is 0.0. It's telling us we're in a level condition. If we weren't in a level condition it would show us off one or two degrees. The next one is auto retract rear jack. This is a function that we'd use when we want to hook up our truck. We'll get to that in a moment. Our next one here is retract all jacks. This is something that we'd use once we're hooked up to the truck. That we'll go through shortly here as well. The next one is a manual mode. We can push enter. Run each jack individually if we wanted to manually level the coach ourselves. Drop the front jacks. That's a function that's in here so when we back up to the campsite we can scroll in, hit enter, that'll drop those front jacks down so we don't have to hold that button to get those jacks to the lower level. OK, we're going to scroll back up here to . we're going to retract the rear jacks. We're going to hit enter. Those rear jacks are going to come up. Retract those rear jacks and then we can to go into our hitch recognition next. We're retracting the rear jacks now. We can kind of get the rest of our little camping stuff put away here. Once those are retracted and back up we'll go back through. They're back up. What we're going to do is we're going to hit left and right. What that'll do is bring you back up to where we unhook from the truck. We'll push the left and right. It's going to extend those front landing legs up to where we hook. It'll stop at that level. Back the truck up in there and pick up the front jacks and we're on our way. If it says feature disabled that means that we started our leveling procedure below level so that feature is not going to work. We have to manually run that hitch back up to our truck. Here is the motor itself that's on each one of these jacks. On the top there's a 3/8 drive that you can manually override. You take a 3/8 socket extension and you stick it in there. You can manually crank that jack up and down. If this is in a location like the back jacks where it's up against that floor and you can't get to the top, we put one on the bottom, 5/16. It's going to fit right in there and you just crank it the same exact way. That's the way to get your jacks manually up and down. Why we have this motor in our hand, we're going to explain this. We have two plugs coming out of this motor. One is a power and a ground. The other one is the hull sensing. It's that one that's doing the counting for us. Telling us where this jack is at. Those there wires right there plug right in, talk to our control and say OK this is how many revolutions we went through and the operation that it's going to follow. If you have any questions again, please, LCI1.com our call our customer service. What I'm going to do here is introduce an error. I unplugged a wire, just so we can show what's going to happen here. We're going to scroll into a manual mode. This is just for showing how we can do this. We're going to hit the rear jack. What we did is we ran and we introduced an error. As the touch pad is saying error, right rear jack. It's telling us the right rear jack, so manually retract all jacks or hold retract to auto retract. What we're going to do is we're going to hold retract. What that's in turn going to do, it's going to retract all jacks as the touch pad is saying. We have an issue with the right rear jack and what we're going to do is manually override that back up electronically. If this doesn't work we're going to have to get those wrenches out and crank that back up again. For basic trouble shooting I would check your wires. Make sure that your wires are plugged in and good connections at your control and at the jack. This will generally take care of your issue. If not, we'd have to go see our service technician at a dealership. .

I installed these on our 29 foot Arctic Fox 5th Wheel, installation was moderate on the difficulty scale for someone with the appropriate tools and ability. Quality of the product, fit and finish, and operation are a 10/10. Beautiful system and pre-purchase help from Judy at etrailer was excellent! I highly recommend this system, no more cranking scissor jacks and excellent stability. 452154

One of the best investments I ever made! No more running around will level to check for leveling of unit. Just press the auto level and it's magically done! With the large pads and location of rear jacks, the trailer is more stable than the factory manual jacks. Highly recommend the LC358590 for your 5th wheel. Excellent service and technical help from etrailer staff! 351263

I really like the system. I installed it myself with no problems. The instructions were easy to follow. It is very simple to use. Leveling takes about 2 minutes. I do have some issues with the remote not working consistently. 366565

Product has been working great. We do a fair amount of traveling and use the self leveling system often. The only negative part of the system is that the 5th wheel has to be somewhat level to start with. This was explained in the instructions, but it does save time and work. Glad I installed this system. 505188

I have had the ground control system which I installed myself for a year now and so far have a couple issues. Mostly a learning curve but once you learn the system it does everything I expected the system to do. The remote control has only one function and that is to raise and lower the jacks. The landing gear button does nothing. Trailer when level still has some motion but it is a minimum. The system does make it easier to level the trailer and reconnect when ready to leave. I like it so far with minimum issues. 254211

Its working well. Wish there was an upgrade to the remote that the landing gear button would become functional. Other than that i am real pleased.

The Lippert Ground Control auto leveling system is the greatest RV accessory there is for older RVers. This unit was fairly easy to install and with a few changes in the how to guide, it would have been simple. It took about 5 hours to install and wire. We have used the unit about a dozen times since the install and it has been a joy to have. Just push a couple of buttons and do something else while it levels the 5th wheel. The unit memory allows for re hook up with the same few button pushes. The 4 point contact system is ample for the 35 foot 5th wheel, very little movement in a rig with 3 slides weighting in at little over 6.6 tons. 246269

This is a great upgrade to any 5th wheel and worth every penny. It is some work to install but if you have a little mechanical skills and take your time its no problem!! Works very well!! 476859

This is an excellent product! Don't know why I waited so long to purchase. If you have basic mechanical skills you can install this. Took me about 4 hrs to install with the help of a friend to install the landing gear jacks. Had to modify the jack mounting tabs just a little to get them to fit, but not anything a little grinder could'nt handle. Overall, heavy duty, easy to install and a must have for any 5th wheel. Have used it many times without any issues...love it!!!! 494614

Just got everything installed and working. etrailer has excellent customer service reps. When I received my shipment the touchpad, all of the mentioned screws for installing the touchpad and the remote was not included. I called etrailer and they shipped all of the parts out to me (took a week) and I just received the remote today. The install is easy make sure you have good drill bits so you can start a pilot hole before you drill the 5/16th holes for the rear jack mounts. Have someone hold the rear mounting plates and use a piece of chalk to mark your holes drill the top two holes first and mount you plate then drill the rest of the holes. I had more of a problem removing the OEM landing gear than I had installing the new gear. I used wire hangers and zip ties to hold the wire along my trailer. I didn't want to remove the underbelly of the trailer because of the blown in insulation. 610205

awesome product, installed the system in a day,did just as instructions said and no problem, love them when at camping site al I have to do is run them up and drive truck out from under trailer and then press button then step back and they do the rest. this is so much simpler than blocking up the wheels which never is quite level and with these it is always perfectly level. would recommend these for anyone with a 5th wheel as they are easy to use and the unit is very sturdy. 601135

Price, delivery, communication all great. Install was complex on my rig and it is a Lippert frame and chassis. Required a lot of mods on my 2017 Attitude 28SAG. Had to cut away some metal (non structural) to get mounting points on rear jacks. Had to reroute fuel lines to genset. With no access to the left front landing gear, I cut and added an access door and gained bonus storage area. Wiring was a breeze with the nice harnesses, long enough for any size rig. Quiet and fast. Caution: make sure you mount the Quick Release Pull Pin with the barrel away from the frame: This unit retracts automatically very close to frame and you can bend the pin. Cons: Mounting plate for rear sensor was not painted and was rusty. No screws included to mount sensor but listed on parts list. only included 8 frame attacing bolts, install requires 12. No big deal. Overall well worth the money and the effort. 583036

Overall I was very happy with the kit. Issues: 1. Included 8 self tapping bolts should of had 12. Changed to grade 8 bolts instead. 2. The remote control was missing, etrailer replaced the remote immediately. The good: 1. The parts fit well. 2. Cabling was well done 551258

Review from a similar Lippert Components Ground Control 3.0 in Camper Jack

The product was delivered as advertised. All of the parts and pieces are of very good quality. This is not a first time handy man install. I do all of my own repairs and this install took me 4 days not 4 hrs. The first day was spent removing the under belly. The second day was spent removing the existing front landing gear. The first two days of work had nothing related to this product. I had to cut the side molding out to accommodate the new middle stabilizers. Because of the size of my frame I need to grind the frame on all mounts so they fit securely. Self threading bolts are included but after no luck I bought a tap to tap the holes. I used newly purchased bolts on the areas I could drill through the frame and reach the other side with lock washers and nuts. Mounting the gear was straight forward with no issues. All of the wiring was well marked and correct length. The rest of the install went smooth with no issues. Be sure you understand the amount of work required to install this product on a used unit. If needed I would purchase and install this product on my next 5th wheel. 584044

  • The Error Code on your Lippert Ground Control # LC358590 is not one of the errors listed in the manual, so I reached out to my tech contact at Lippert and they said that the system must have malfunctioned at some point. To clear that code, you can press the retract button and the enter button simultaneously holding for about 3 seconds and it will clear the error code. It may function fine after that, but if not, you probably need to have it looked at.

  • Out of Stroke Error Code on Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Electric 5th Wheel RV Leveling System
  • If you get the Out of Stroke error message on the Lippert Ground Control system, such as # LC358590, then that indicates that the jack has extended as far as it will go and cannot go any further. You might be able to solve this issue by raising the jack back up and placing some sort of leveler under it, such as # UF48-979051, so that the jack does not have as far to go. The other possible option is to move the coach or trailer to a different, more level location. To clear the error you...

  • Reducing Movement in a 5th Wheel Trailer While Parked
  • Movement is normal when it isn't controlled. But when stabilization products are used then the movement can be reduced if not eliminated. You mentioned that you have tried things to correct this problem but did not mention what those things were so some of my recommendations may be something you have already tried. First we have to determine the nature of the movement. Is it side to side, front to back, or both? The front to back movement can result from slight movement at the trailer...

  • Installation of the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Difficulty
  • We haven't heard back on the install of the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 part # LC358590 that you referenced from our customers, but the install is pretty straight forward. This will be mounted...

  • Lippert Components' bolt-on 4-jack automatic leveling kit # LC358590 is an advanced general-application system for use on most 5th wheels, including your Keystone Montana High Country 305 RL. I do not have any confirmed data for how many of these system have been installed on trailers in the Montana series. This system offers...
