Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2016 Honda Odyssey. Our cabin filter is going to do for our car, what our furnace filter does for our house. It's gonna take all the air coming into the cabin and filter it, make sure we have quality air to breathe. As you can see, the one we pulled out is quite dirty. It's actually turning the filter brown and almost a gray color and if we open up the pleats we can see a lot of large debris that's in there. Now, it's a good thing that the filter caught it because if it gets too far into our cooling or heating system, it can cause a lot of damage. Now, the manufacturer does recommend that you change your filter every 12 to 15 thousand miles, but you may want to check your owner's manual to double check.Changing is an extremely straightforward process. There's no need to pay somebody, take it somewhere for them to do it. In fact, it's so easy, let's do it together. To begin installation, we'll come to the front seat on the passenger side, we're going to open up our glove box.
Now, if we look towards the center console, we're going to have this rod here, that's gonna be the shock that keeps our glove-box coming down too fast. We take our hand and we grab it, we're gonna push towards the front of our Odyssey and we'll release it, that way we can get our glove-box out of the way.You want to come to the inside of your glove-box, to the two outer edges here, we're going to slightly push in and we can rotate the glove-box down and then once we get it down to about this level, we can pull out and we can set the glove-box down so we don't have to worry about it falling. Behind the glove-box, we'll have our cabin air filter cover. Each side is gonna have these little tabs, just press in and then pull out and we can remove the cover and get access to the filter. We can pull the old filter out and grab the new one. If we pay attention, there is gonna be arrows telling us which direction the air flow needs to go, and if we look on the front of the cover, it's also going to have arrows pointing down.
We want to make sure they line up and match going in the same direction. We'll push it in, 'til it locks into place, take our glove box, line up the hinges on the bottom and you want to make sure you press in and it goes into place, we'll lift our glove-box up, get the two tabs in place and then we'll re-hook up that rod. Got everything in place, we're ready to hit the road. That'll finish up your look at the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter on our 2016 Honda Odyssey.
