What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're checking out this cabin air filter on this 2017 Ford Edge. A cabin air filter is an easy thing to swap out. A lot of times you go to the mechanic they'll offer to do it for you but you can actually do it way cheaper on your own. It's a good idea to do every once in a while maybe every five years to swap one of these out just because it does collect a lot of dirt and particles and debris that's coming in through the vehicles recycled air and catches it here. That way it doesn't come through the vents.
We're gonna set the air filter aside. We're gonna open up our glove box. The cabin air filter needs to go back here. It's not too bad to do this. On this side, we're gonna push up.
You see how this portion is in the groove It'll lift up on this portion. Now it goes in the bigger groove. You can pull it out, push it outta the way push it on just a little bit and I can push these tabs right here, up, so it clears the glove box as it comes back down. So where those pushed up it's gonna clear those tabs lower all the way and we're not gonna need to remove this. My air filter's gonna be right here.
There's gonna be a tab on each side so I'm gonna push the one over here and the one towards the driver's side. There's gonna be a tab, you see where my thumb is and it's gonna pull down the cover to show us where the air filter is. Now we can remove that. This is 2017. You can already see it does have plenty of dust and debris and air compared to our brand new one.
Make sure you can read and look at the arrows. It says airflow, so you're gonna turn that to the side here and put it back in place just like we took the other one out. You can close it up and put our glove box back together. Put it back together is pretty easy too. You just push up on the glove box. It'll snap behind those tabs and then you can actually extend this portion out to reattach it. So then you put that, push it down in the groove lock in the place and you're done. Overall, something pretty easy to do on your own. You don't have to pay anybody else to do it. It was simple as taking apart that glove box, putting a new one in. Well, I think that does it.
