Video Transcript for Pacer Performance Hi-Five Truck Cab Light Kit Installation - 2012 Ford F-150

Today in our 2012 Ford F-150, we're gonna be installing Pacer's Performance High Five truck cab lights. You can get these with incandescent bulbs using part number PP20-225, or with LED bulbs with part number PP20-226.These lights are designed to look like factory 1980 to 1998 cab lights for Ford vehicles. These lights will add a unique look to your vehicle, so if you're looking to stylize it to your taste, you can get that look you're looking for.LEDs typically last longer than your typical incandescent bulb, as they don't have any filaments that can be broken or overloaded. They're easy to use, you can either wire it up to your factory parking lights or you could use the included switch to have the option to turn it on and off whenever you'd like, even when your vehicle is sitting stationary with the key off.The light dimensions are five and a half inches long, three and a half inches wide and one and a half inches tall. On the bottom of each light, is a rubber foam seal that will help conform to your roof and keep out any moisture from entering the cab.To begin our installation, we're gonna start by drilling the holes for our lights. You can use the lights as a template.

You'll wanna find the center first, and then you can space your lights evenly or however you see fit. I've gone ahead and drilled out the holes for our center one and the ones around it. I'm gonna drill our last one here. We'll be using an eighth inch drill bit to do that. You wanna be careful not to go down too far with your drill bit, as you can poke a hole in your head liner. We now want to find the center of the holes we drilled out, and we're gonna mark that, and we're gonna drill that out as well with an eighth inch drill bit and that's where we'll poke down our power wire. You repeat this for each remaining light.

We'll now prepare our light to install. You wanna insert your LED or incandescent bulb inside its socket, we'll then insert that into our light, line up the openings there, slide it in, then give it a twist, that'll hold it in. Our ground wire will go off to one side where the opening is here, and we're gonna slide a screw through that. And now to seal it up where our holes are here, we're gonna cut a little bit of Util tape, you can pick up some Util tape here at etrailer.com. So we're just gonna use a couple of small pieces to seal all that up. We're just gonna slide that Util tape down on our screw, we're gonna poke our other screw through and do the same thing with the Util tape. We'll take our wire and push that down in the center hole.

Once you've got that mostly fed in, take some Util tape and we're gonna wrap that around it to seal that up. And now, we'll just insert our screws into the holes we drilled out. We're gonna use a Phillips head screw driver to tighten it down. And we'll repeat that with our remaining four lights.Alright, next we'll show you how we routed our wiring. We did have to drop our headliner a little bit, so you have to take your visors off and pull your center overhead console down if you have it.

This just pops down, you just pull it and it comes off. There's some Phillips head screws that hold your visors in, just take those out and you can get your headliner down a little bit for some more room. We'll then take the red wires that we've pushed through the roof, and we're gonna connect all those together using the quick splices that come in your kit. It may be necessary for you to use additional wire depending on the spacing between your lights to make them connect to one another. Now you have a couple of options where you're gonna run your wire. The kit comes with a switch that you could mount somewhere on your dash or anywhere, but we're gonna route our wiring over into our parking lights. So that way, whenever we turn our parking lights on, our lights are gonna come on up there. So to get this over to where our parking lights are gonna connect, we're gonna run all the way across our driver's side. Once we get over there, you are gonna need an extended length of wire, so we're gonna connect the wire there and we're gonna route that out to our engine compartment to make our connection. Now we'll route our wiring down our A pillar here. Once we get down to about this point, we can pull this panel up, and we're just gonna tuck that wire in back behind that panel, making sure you get it below the clip there so we don't pinch it, and put that back in. Now take your weatherstripping and just push that back into place. Now down on our driver's side lower left kick panel here, we're gonna take the rest of the red wire that comes in our kit that we routed down our A pillar, we're gonna connect it to a fish wire and use that to pull it into our engine compartment. We poked our fish wire through the grommet located here on our lower left firewall area. If the grommet comes out of its mounting location, that's okay. We're just gonna get our wire pulled through, and then we can reseat that grommet. Now here on our engine compartment, we're gonna pull the rest of that wire through our grommet here, and we're just gonna push that grommet back in place since we have it pulled through. Now we routed our wire from our grommet over to our fuse box here. The brown wire located here, is where we're gonna be connecting it. This is our trailer tail lamp circuit, so this way whenever we have our parking lights on, it'll light up our lights. We'll use our last splice that comes with our kit to make that connection. So I'm just gonna separate that out, push both the wires in the splice, I'm gonna close that shut, make sure we squeeze it down tight so that way it makes a good connection. Now you can just go back and clean up all your wiring with some zip ties. Now there aren't any provided with your kit, but you can pick some up here at etrailer.com.A switch is included with your kit that you can use to wire it up to manually turn them on and off whenever you'd like. We opted to not use the switch in our installation, because our customer didn't want the switch mounted on their dash anywhere causing additional holes to be drilled. So we wired it into our running lights, so when you turn your parking lights on or your headlights, they'll come on.And this is what our lights look like when they're installed. And that completes our installation of Pacer Performance's High Five truck cab lights on our 2012 Ford F-150.

fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?

Ford F-350 Super Duty

The Pacer Performance High-5 lights on my 1992 Ford F350 are high quality. They fit the original screw holes perfectly. The LED lights are bright. The wire connectors were different, but that was no problem. I cut off the connectors and used crimp-on connectors, then taped the connections securely with electrical tape.

Lights exactly as described. Package came with both LED bulbs and incandescent bulbs. Easy to install. I watched the installation video which was very helpful. I only installed 4 as my vintage truck has a middle rotating beacon.

by:

Shipping and website was fantastic. Communication and shipping was fast. One issue is the LED bulbs were hard to get to work right. They must be pushed in completely and very snug. I had 1 that was an issue no matter how you put it in. I haven’t tried the regular bulbs but bought the system for the LEDs. At least it does come with a regular set of lights too. Good quality product. Installed on a 1997 f350 that I am fixing back up.

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.

Comments
I have not had any major issues with the cab lights other than the initial issue stated in my first review. I am happy with the lights, and would get them again.

Your better off buying the mopar replacements instead of going the cheaper route. They constantly filled up with water, about an inch or more in some of them. Never got into the cab because I sealed it correctly with silicone. I took them off about 3 times to get all the water out and even tried applying silicone to the part where the bulb twists in to the housing. Still leaked. Tried silicone around the entire light, still leaked. I decided to check out the molding and it’s actually 2 pieces, so there is a seam all the way around that leaked in 3 of 5 of the lights. I put silicone there, now there good, no leaks. Otherwise kit was great, didnt use the splice connectors, i soldered. Do yourself a favor and get mopar lenses

I really do like the look of theses lights. They were pretty simple to install. However I really wish the LED bulbs were brighter. They are just a tad bit weak I’d say. Another thing is that the bulb housing doesn’t really fit in the main housing very well. It took some work and finesse just to piece them together. One last thing is that it would have been nice to have a housing designer so that the light from the bulb could be seen from behind. As they stand you can barely see the light from the side and the back is totally blocked. Just some humble suggestions for the future

Lights and everything arrived quickly, everything needed was in the packaging. The only thing I did differently was I wired the lights into my existing light switch instead of a separate switch, just bought 16 gauge wire from hardware store. I added some t10 LED lights which look awesome at night! During the day LED or incandescent bulbs are not very visible anyway. Overall awesome product!

Not a bad product. Although, the lens is not well glued to the base, and the plastic is of not great quality. However, if you’re looking for an OEM look, this product is what you’re after. It was a direct replacement for my 2005 GMC 2500HD.

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

One year on, these lights are holding up very well. Installation was pretty simple, I did have to break out a drill to enlarge the factory holes - I believe the factory lights used sheet metal screws to attach to the top of the cab through the lens and these use a metal stud attached to the light base with a nut that tightens from inside the cab (it's been a year and my memory is fuzzy). Outwards though these lights look completely stock. They sealed well and I've experienced no issues with water leaks. 100% suggest these to anyone wanting to replace or upgrade their stock lights to LED while retained the OE look.

The lights were purchased as replacement for the existing lights already on the truck, so all the hard work of drilling the holes and running the wiring was already done. What little installation I had to do was fairly easy, and simple. The lights match the originals exactly and you can't tell them apart from the old ones. The package was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged within a few days. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the order and I will be using your company for future purchases and I will definitely recommend your company to other people who need the type of things you supply.

After reading not so good reviews on other cab lights I found these and saw nothing but good things about them and when I had them installed I was more than happy with them. I would recommend to anyone wanting to put cab lights on their truck

Purchased and installed the cab lights from etrailer.com. Shipped quickly, reasonably priced and a very easy installation. They look great on the truck. There some great write ups on the web explaining how to easily drop the headliner. Thanks etrailer.

The smoked lens look great! On my 2017 black 3500 RAM. Install took about 45 minutes. LED bulbs need to go the right way to work. Shipping was quick, and thanks to Jason and everyone at etrailer for making the ordering process easy.

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

Great product, I replaced existing lights with these. Hole pattern was exactly the same as my old lights. I had two issues not related to the product. My old lights only had one wire through the cab. They had a jumper wire that went from bulb socket to mounting screw for the light.
As far as replacing existing lights goes, this product is great.
For a complaint, the instructions nor video showed me what the little rubber washers were for. Since there were 10 of these I assumed they were for the mounting screws. I used mine for lens cover screws.
I also used silicone under foam pad, on top of foam pad, on mounting screws, and after install was complete I added it at base of lens and around base of light. All not needed but cant hurt to keep water out.

Definitely reccomend this companies products.

Excellent product. Very good price. The replacement marker lights were almost an identical match to the original lights on my 1983 Ford F150. A very easy install. The truck looks great! Purchasing the lights on line with etrailer.com was a snap. I'm very happy so far with the service, product, and follow up. I'll definitely consider etrailer.com for further purchases as I work to restore this pickup. Thank you etrailer.com!!!
