Video Transcript for Review of Pacer Performance Vehicle Lights - Roof Lamp - PP20-215

Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Pacer Performance Hi-Five Truck Cab Light Kit. This is going to be the teardrop style with an red lens instead of an amber lens. And basically what this kit is going to do, is give us either a new kit to go on top of our vehicle, or place an old cab light kit. So we'll have our red lenses and this is going to make us more visible when we're out on the road.

Typically, with the red lens, you're going to have these pointed towards the rear of the vehicle since the red lens usually indicates the rear side of your trailer or your vehicle, so that other drivers know where you are. I have seen some people mount these front ways, kind of up to you, but typically the DOT standard is to have these rear facing. So just something to keep in mind there, but it's going to make you more visible out on the road, so other drivers can see you, see where you are and move accordingly, or just be aware that you're there. Especially in areas where there's a lot of inclement weather, rain, snow, fog, sleet, things like that.So everything you see here on the table is what's going to come in the kit, and I'm going to show you guys how basically to get it set up to be installed. So you'll get these little connectors and this just needs to be pushed through the socket for the housing. So if we opened this up, can push it through the hole in the back, and then this just makes our bulb kind of spring loaded, so it provides the tension to keep it in the socket there.

And then you just want to route your wire through the grommet. That grommet helps to keep out any water debris from getting into our vehicle. You could also put a little silicone sealant on there if you want to just be extra cautious. I might do that if it we're me, but not necessary, really. So we'll take our bulb and push that down in there.

You see, now it's got that little disc in the socket and the springs behind it. So it's going to provide us with that tension for our bulb. This is going to be a 67 or 67 bulb type. There are LEDs that are a fit for this. This kit obviously does come with them, but they are out there, so if you wanted to upgrade this to an LED kit, really wouldn't be that hard, you just have to get the right bulb for it.So I'm going to connect my power and ground, red goes to power white goes to ground. Turn this guy on, you'll see our light comes on.

So that's basically what these are going to look like. If you turn the lights out in the studio and see. Oops, my wires came undone. So that shouldn't happen for you guys because you'll have it properly connected, but that's basically what it looks like illuminated in the dark. Disconnect my wires, then we can go over what else comes in the kit. We've got our quick splice connectors, so that's where you're going to make your electrical connection. It's all going to run off of the one main wire that comes with our kit. So we'll have this long wire runs all between all five of these. Quick splice it in there with the connectors and should be good to go. You will have to do some drilling to get this installed since there are two mounting holes for each light, to get this in place, so if you didn't already have bounding holes from a pre-existing kit, you will have to do some drilling. So just keep that in mind. You might also need to drill a third hole for your wiring to drop down through. And when I say might, I actually mean you will need to drill another hole for the wire to come through. The other wire that comes with it is going to have a fuse on there, so it's going to keep everything protected. The terminals on the end fit onto the switch, so you can bypass your factory wiring. The reason why you'd want to do that, is because if you're putting this on anything that's under warranty, still hard wiring into your vehicle's electrical system can sometimes void that warranty, so bypassing it is a good idea in those cases. If you're not under warranty or you just don't really care, then as long as you have a basic mechanical knowledge and you feel comfortable doing it, no reason why you can't. Get all the screws to get everything in place, the hardware to attach the lens to the housing, and then the hardware to attach the switch if you want to use it.That's basically it, as far as the kit, it is a universal fit, so go on just about anything, that gasket is also going to help it to conform to different roof levels, if it's going to be straight or curved, or flat or curved. As far as the size for each light housing. I want to take this grommet off. It's a really important part, it's going to be this plastic piece. So that's about five and five-eighth inch long, by two and three-eighth inch wide, and about one and seven-eighth inches tall. Our pad here, is only about six inches by two and seven-eights. And it's about an eighth of an inch thick. This SAE certified, or meets SAE specifications. Bulb type again, is number 67. Does have a 60 day limited warranty. And that's pretty much all there is to it as far as getting this in place. So I hope this video has been helpful in determining whether or not this is going to be the right kit for you. The teardrop style is also available in amber with the incandescent bulbs and also an amber with the LED bulbs, and you can check those out right here at etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

Bought these lights about a year ago and they look and work great! The lighting makes a perfect red and they are very bright as well, but that can depend on the bulbs you decide to use. Easy installation too!

Hello Again. I just received my order. Thank You. One concern. The exterior marker lights came as a complete set including mounting screws although the three interior lights and the exterior door light DID NOT. I was hoping the screws would be included in the price so I would not have to make a trip to the hardware store to mount them. The diameter, head size and length are critical to NOT breaking the unit when installed. I look forward to hearing from you on this matter. Thanks, R.S. Moyer

Comments
Optronics typically doesnt include mounting hardware, as the hardware needed will depend quite a bit on the surface the lamp is being mounted on.

My Airstream travel trailer is a "classic" and has incandescent clearance lights. Newer designs have LED lights, which do not have the "classic" look my trailer needs to look "period style". The amber and red teardrop lights are very difficult to find these days in incandescent designs and, although they can be fitted with LED lamps, if one desires to keep incandescent lamps, these were the only ones I could find reasonably priced in todays market. THANK YOU etrailer!

They work great just ran some wire and hooked it all up, was simple to do. I’m pretty happy with the end outcome.

The top lens does not sit solid with the base if your surface is not completely flat therefore allowing moisture to get into the lens

The lights fit great and are still burning bright a year later. Very good value for the money. I have a cracked one and still can't find a replacement for a single red lenz.

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

Look good on the truck, one of the center lights became loose so it was not making great contact and therefore was out. I got it working again, but it was a hassle taking the light off the truck to just spin the light a little bit.

Comments
I have not had any major issues with the cab lights other than the initial issue stated in my first review. I am happy with the lights, and would get them again.

fairly quick shipping..my truck has never had lights...but have installed them on every truck I've owned ( 4 ), This is my 5th. Everything was in the box. It even came with little washers for the screw heads. I used silicone just in case. I was very skeptical of the supplied ground wires but they all worked!!.. I decided on the old style bulbs this time. Might switch if they don't last then I will go to the LED's. I used a different toggle switch than the one supplied. Really like the set so far. I have never seen a truck like mine with cab lights. Maybe others will try it now?

Your better off buying the mopar replacements instead of going the cheaper route. They constantly filled up with water, about an inch or more in some of them. Never got into the cab because I sealed it correctly with silicone. I took them off about 3 times to get all the water out and even tried applying silicone to the part where the bulb twists in to the housing. Still leaked. Tried silicone around the entire light, still leaked. I decided to check out the molding and it’s actually 2 pieces, so there is a seam all the way around that leaked in 3 of 5 of the lights. I put silicone there, now there good, no leaks. Otherwise kit was great, didnt use the splice connectors, i soldered. Do yourself a favor and get mopar lenses

I really do like the look of theses lights. They were pretty simple to install. However I really wish the LED bulbs were brighter. They are just a tad bit weak I’d say. Another thing is that the bulb housing doesn’t really fit in the main housing very well. It took some work and finesse just to piece them together. One last thing is that it would have been nice to have a housing designer so that the light from the bulb could be seen from behind. As they stand you can barely see the light from the side and the back is totally blocked. Just some humble suggestions for the future

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

One year on, these lights are holding up very well. Installation was pretty simple, I did have to break out a drill to enlarge the factory holes - I believe the factory lights used sheet metal screws to attach to the top of the cab through the lens and these use a metal stud attached to the light base with a nut that tightens from inside the cab (it's been a year and my memory is fuzzy). Outwards though these lights look completely stock. They sealed well and I've experienced no issues with water leaks. 100% suggest these to anyone wanting to replace or upgrade their stock lights to LED while retained the OE look.

Lights and everything arrived quickly, everything needed was in the packaging. The only thing I did differently was I wired the lights into my existing light switch instead of a separate switch, just bought 16 gauge wire from hardware store. I added some t10 LED lights which look awesome at night! During the day LED or incandescent bulbs are not very visible anyway. Overall awesome product!

The Pacer Performance High-5 lights on my 1992 Ford F350 are high quality. They fit the original screw holes perfectly. The LED lights are bright. The wire connectors were different, but that was no problem. I cut off the connectors and used crimp-on connectors, then taped the connections securely with electrical tape.

Review from a similar Hi-Five in Cab Lights

The lights were purchased as replacement for the existing lights already on the truck, so all the hard work of drilling the holes and running the wiring was already done. What little installation I had to do was fairly easy, and simple. The lights match the originals exactly and you can't tell them apart from the old ones. The package was shipped promptly and arrived undamaged within a few days. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the order and I will be using your company for future purchases and I will definitely recommend your company to other people who need the type of things you supply.

After reading not so good reviews on other cab lights I found these and saw nothing but good things about them and when I had them installed I was more than happy with them. I would recommend to anyone wanting to put cab lights on their truck

  • How Dark are Lenses of Pacer Performance Hi-Five Truck Cab Lights
I'd be difficult to quantify 'how dark' the lenses are. I did a Google search of the lamps, and saw that many of the photos show the lamps being photographed in direct light, which will make the lenses look lighter. Ours were photographed using indirect light, which gives a truer representation of the actual color. If I had to verbally categorize the color, I'd call it a deep red.
