Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Today we're going to take a look at the Performance Tool 8-Piece Tie-Down Strap, Cinch Strap, and Bungee Cord Kit with Storage Case. This is going to be a nice, kind of all-in-one case to have in your vehicle which gives you a lot of options for different tie-downs. It's kind of a starter kit for just about hauling anything that you would with your vehicle. The nice thing about the case is that it is clear, so you can see what all's inside there. We've got our two latches on the front. Pop those open and take a look at what's inside.
We'll have two tie-down straps. These are going to be the ones that have the ratchet plus an additional piece. You know how you would run the end of the strap through that center and it's going to help you to ratchet that down. So this is going to be great for cinching down heavy pieces of equipment like maybe a lawnmower or a motorcycle or something like that. You just want to be sure to not exceed any of the working load limits on these straps. But it's going to be really for attaching something to a trailer or a cargo carrier, somewhere where you're going to have two ends that you can hook, or two places that you can hook on the hooks there to keep it attached.
The other straps that we're going to get in our kit are going to be the cinch straps. It's the same basic idea, but instead of having a separate piece it's just going to be one strap that's going to loop around and come back to the ratchet. This is going to be more for attaching kind of a loose bundle of things, so maybe if you want to wrap it around bundling pipe or lumber, if you're using with a ladder rack or if you want to secure it to a tree for stakes or something like that. So this is going to be more for kind of bundling and cinching things together, hence the name cinch strap. It's the same basic idea, though. You're going to have your ratchet.
It allows you to cinch the strap down. The handle in the center there allows you to open that up and release the feed so you can loosen that strap as well. We're going to get two of each of those, so two of the tie-down straps and two of the cinch straps. Place them back in our case, here. I also like that this is all separated out so you can keep everything really tidy and neat, keep everything organized so you don't just have a jumble of straps in here.
We'll also get our bungee straps. So we'll have the red one, which is going to be the 24-inch bungee. It has this nice kind of flat design so it's going to be wide enough to hold onto a lot of different things. It has a good stretch. And our two plastic hooks on either side. The nice thing about these is that they're going to be soft enough that they're not going to damage any of your cargo, but also strong enough to hold your load secure. We'll get two of those longer ones and then two shorter ones, which are going to measure 15 inches long. The shorter ones are going to be green. The longer ones are going to be red. Bungee cords are going to handy for just about anything, especially excess webbing on tie-down straps or for tying down tarps. Pretty much anything that you would need to tie down, you'll be able to handle with one of these options. Now, on the end of our tie-down straps and our cinch straps, those S-hooks are going to have a vinyl coating to kind of protect anything that we're going to be attaching this to. It's going to prevent them from just being metal on metal. It's going to prevent any scratches on your gear or your vehicle or wherever you're using this. Then, it's going to have a durable nylon webbing, which has reinforced stitching there to make sure that that strap isn't going anywhere. Now, as far as the dimensions, our tie-down straps are going to have a total length of 10 feet. The two-piece strap, that's going to measure out 10 feet at most. Our cinch strap is going to be a bit longer, so, again it can wrap and and come back to itself. That's going to be a max of 15 feet long. Both of this have a width of one inch. Again, our bungee straps, we're going to have our 24-inch bungee and our 15-inch bungee. Both of those are going to measure about 3/4 of an inch at the strap part. The hook itself is more like an inch wide, maybe an inch and a quarter. The length on that hook is going to be about two and a quarter for the just the hook portion. The part where it attaches to the strap is going to be more like four inches. That's going to be the same for both. Now, the safe working load limit is going to be 400 pounds for our straps and then 33 pounds for our bungees. The max load or break strength for the straps is going to be 12,000 . or 1,200 pounds, excuse me. 1,200 pounds, and then 100 pounds for our bungees. Now, it's an important thing to note that with any strap that you choose you want to make sure to choose it according to that safe working load limit. You want to make sure that the weight of whatever you're securing does not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps used. For example, if you're going to use the straps with a working load limit of 500 pounds each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 pounds, then you would need at least two straps to safely secure that load. So it's always recommended that you use straps in pairs. As far as our box itself, the dimensions on that, at most the width is going to be about nine and 1/4 of an inch. The depth is going to be about seven and 3/4 of an inch going from that back hinge to the front of the little buckles, there. And then the height is going to be about 4 1/2 inches. Those are just sort of rough measurements there. It's a little bit less than 4 1/2 inches, so it might not fit underneath a seat but it should fit in your trunk or cargo area pretty easily and stay up and out of the way. That's going to do it for our look at the Performance Tool 8-Piece Tie-Down Strap, Cinch Strap, and Bungee Cord Kit with Storage Case.
