Bluetooth-enabled brake controller wirelessly connects to your smartphone, turning your phone into a brake control interface. The compact unit plugs in line with your 7-way trailer connector - no complicated install and no bulky cab-mounted unit.
Features:
Specs:
Welcome to an entirely new towing experience. The Curt Echo brake controller puts you in control of your trailer's braking with mobile, Bluetooth operation. The portable unit installs in seconds and allows you to make braking adjustments straight from your smartphone. Easily transfer the Echo between vehicles and store it when it's not in use.
Simple, Fast Setup
With no wiring, modules, or knobs to install, setting up the Curt Echo is a breeze. Just download the Echo Smart Control app on your Apple or Android smart device and follow the in-app instructions. The brake control unit plugs into the 7-way at the rear of your vehicle and provides a port for plugging in your 7-way trailer connector. When all the connections are made, wirelessly pair the unit to your phone via Bluetooth. Once the unit is paired, configure your desired trailer brake settings in the user-friendly app.
See etrailer.com's exclusive 7-way upgrade kit for brake controller installation (ETBC7L - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.
Echo Smart Control App
The Echo Smart Control app is free to download and use. Scan the QR code included with the Curt Echo or search Echo Smart Control in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
The custom-designed app allows you to control brake settings, calibrate output, and monitor all braking activity with the touch of a finger. If ever there is a time that you need to brake your trailer separately from your tow vehicle - when traveling down a steep incline, for example - the manual override function is easily accessible in the app. Press and hold the large orange circle to manually activate your trailer brakes.
The app will also alert you in the event that your trailer is overloaded or becomes disconnected during travel. Should your smart device ever lose connection, the Echo will default to the settings of the last profile used. So even if your phone battery dies, you can still count on getting proportional trailer braking as long as the unit is in use.
There's no need to worry about missing a call or running multiple apps either. The Echo Smart Control app will continue running in the background if you get a call or switch between apps, and it will not interfere with your vehicle's hands-free multimedia system.
Create Multiple Vehicle-Trailer Profiles
The app has the ability to sync up to 5 Echo devices, and the memory function allows you to save unlimited vehicle-trailer profiles. This makes it easy to transfer the Echo between towing setups. This convenience, along with the plug-and-play design, makes the Echo perfect for either occasional towing or commercial fleets.
Weatherproof Construction
Because the Echo is made to be outside the vehicle, it's engineered for maximum weather resistance. The unit is filled with an epoxy resin that seals off the internal components from moisture and the elements, ensuring long-lasting operation despite rain, snow, dirt, mud, and more. The Echo also has a soft locking tab for connecting to your 7-way RV-style plug. This tab helps to reduce vibration and improve connectivity.
LED Status Indicator
A single LED on the body of the Echo shows the status of the brake control unit so that you can easily troubleshoot any problems that may arise.
Proportional Braking
With a proportional brake controller, you can get heavy-duty emergency braking, general braking or slow-to-an-idle braking for your trailer automatically. The intensity with which your trailer brakes are activated and the rate at which they are applied are dependent on the deceleration of your tow vehicle. This means that, unlike time-delay controllers - which send the same amount of preset power to your trailer brakes every time - proportional controllers are able to adapt to every braking situation differently. So, if you slam on the brakes in your truck, your trailer brakes will activate with that same extreme intensity. And if you merely slow down as you approach a red light, your trailer will gradually brake in the same manner.
Once the Echo is installed, it will sense - via an internal 3-axis accelerometer - how your tow vehicle brakes. This inertia-based sensor responds to the deceleration of your tow vehicle as you brake by signaling the controller to send out enough power to your trailer brakes so that they are activated with an intensity that matches. The result is uniform braking across your towing setup. No push-pull action - just smooth, proportional braking every time.
Video of Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller - Wireless - 1 to 2 Axles - Proportional
Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information.
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Curt Echo. This is a proportional wireless trailer brake controller. It's designed to work with one, up to two, axles. Part number is C51180. Now the Curt Echo it really changing the game when it comes to brake controllers. Basically, we are no longer required to install a bunch of wiring inside of our vehicle.
Or if we didn't want to do that, we'd have to install or permanently mount something on our trailer. In this case, we're basically going to plug this right between a working 7-pole and the wire on our trailer, sync it up with an app, and we have full wireless control. We can adust our gain. We can adjust the sensitivity, and we can store several different profiles for several different trailers. Now this type of controller is going to be great in a lot of applications. It's designed to work with trailers that have one or two axles, so four total brake assemblies.
But just imagine rental areas that rent equipment on trailers. A lot of customers aren't going to have that brake controller installed. This is going to allow them to safely haul that load. Also, fleet companies .. Maybe you've got six trailers and four different trucks, and each truck pulls a different trailer at a different time, or you don't want to go through the expense of adding a brake controller into each truck.
This can very quickly and easily be switched from vehicle to vehicle or trailer to trailer with no issues. I also see this being used a lot for the more complex wiring situations that we run into with our higher end or multiplex style wiring. Also, if you just don't want to put holes in your dashboard, you don't want to adjust or modify anything in the vehicle, this is going to give you the perfect solution. So there's a lot of different areas where this brake controller is really going to shine. Now the nice thing about the Echo is that it is a proportional brake controller. So now we're traveling.
We're just going to lightly hit our brakes. And see our brakes are applied just in that light affect. Now we'll go around the corner here. We'll hit our brakes a little harder once we get around, and we'll see what it does there. Once we get into this more of an emergency stop situation, you notice we've got much more brakes being applied and much more quickly. Now if we go to our sensitivity, if we don't feel like those are coming on quick enough, we bump that up just a little bit, hit our brakes again, and you can kind of fine tune it to get the feel that you're looking for.The benefit to that over a time delayed system is that you don't have to wait for it to come on in an emergency, and it's not going to come on too quickly just in your normal everyday stopping situation. Now for our manual override, you'll notice we do have the orange button here in the middle. This is basically going to come into play when you just want to apply the brakes on your trailer. So if you have a sway event or something like that, simply by hitting that button, you can see those brakes are going to be applied and will settle that right back out.Now the Echo is going to work in any of your working 7-poles. Basically, you just want to install it like you would your trailer plug. The thing I like about this with each manufacturer . Like on the Jeep here, for instance, the door opens from the side. On Chevys they kind of open up, so you have to have it in on the bottom. So regardless of which angle that we have to get this installed into the back of our truck, it's going to work equally as good. Now in our case, we're just going to open our 7-pole door. Keep in mind the tab that sticks up should always be towards the door. And we're going to slide that in just like a normal 7-pole plug. You'll notice we've got a LED light right here. It's flashing blue. That means that it is synced, so we already have our app open. It just doesn't recognize the trailer yet. That LED light is going to tell you exactly what's going on with your controller. The different lights mean different things, and the thing I like about that is that in your quick guide all of those are listed. So you don't have to go all the way back through your instructions or find it. Keep that quick guide with you. If you have any issues, it's going to let you know right there on the controller. Now we'll hook up our 7-pole from our trailer just like we would plugging it into the back of our vehicle. At that point, our brake controller is installed, and as long as you've got it paired to your smartphone it's ready for use. You'll notice our flashing green light once we're plugged in. That indicated to us that it is recognizing the trailer. It is getting power, but the app is not open yet. As soon as you open the app, the flashing green will turn to solid green. And to set up your brake controller, you'll need to download the current app. Once you initially get in there, it's going to have it get started right down here at the bottom. We're just a step beyond that, so we're going to hit the menu button up here. Once we select that, we're going to have sync devices. We've got right here. Allow it to look. Now one thing to keep in mind, of course, you do want the Bluetooth on your phone to be turned on. Here we see a found device. That's our Echo brake control. Would we like to pair with that Okay.At that point it asks us for our code. That's going to be a six-digit number. It's going to come in the package with your brake controller on your quick start guide, which is going to be here. You can see it's on the back. But if you happen to lose that card, it's also located underneath the lid on your brake controller. We've got our number entered, so we'll hit okay. As you can see now, it's going to show connected, pairing successful. We'll want to continue. You can see we've got the five different profiles to choose from. Now this can be different users. It can be different trailers. You've got several different ways you can set that up. Just get into our current there, and we'll see that we've got our output. We've got our sensitivity. That's our manual override right there, so you just hit that center button. That's going to take care of any of the sway events that you might have. And you see we've got our plus and our minus here. That's going to jump in increments of five. It's going to give us 19 different settings, so 19 different output settings. It's going to really allow you to adjust or fine tune your braking. Then to fine tune that further, we've got our sensitivity. Here you can see we have nine different levels, and that's going to change the quickness and aggressiveness in which our brakes get applied. So once we get into a heavier load situation or rough terrain, we want to increase that sensitivity. If we're driving on a nice flat level surface with an empty trailer, well, we want to bring that sensitivity down. We don't need that quickness and that aggressiveness. And also, we can adjust the theme. So we can go to a darker screen. It's going to be more beneficial driving at night. And if you choose, if you want to brighten it up a little bit you can for the day.Now from our operations screen, if we'll hit the menu, we can go to profile list. So we'll select that. Now from the controller profile screen, we can go to application profiles. You'll see here it says add profile. Basically, what we're able to do is name a profile specifically. So we'll go here. We already have one saved as Little Red. So we're going to do Black Tandem. It's one of the other trailers that we have here. Hit okay. We can go to our current profile. We'll see Black Tandem. Go back into it. Our settings are saved where we want them. Go back to our profile list, and we can select Little Red. Would you like to activate that Now a few things to keep in mind for increasing the user experience that you're going to have with the brake controller would be, one, you want to ensure that you update the app regularly. They're, of course, going to make changes and improvements to it, so you want to stay up to date. And the other thing we'd recommend is having your cellphone mounted on your dashboard. As you use the brake controller, the application is going to stay open, so it's readily available and easy to access. The situation with that would be if you've got it in your cup holder, if it falls off your seat on your floor, well, you're not within arms reach of it. So having a dashboard mount so you can keep your cellphone up here easily accessible is going to be the safest way to operate it. We do have a couple different dashboard cellphone holder mounts available. One that we'd recommend would be PC03. And it's also a good idea to have a power source plugged in. With the app staying on, of course, you can dim your phone screen down, kind of minimize the battery drain, but with the power source in there it's something you're not going to have to worry about. You'll notice the Grand Cherokee we've been working with today has an after market brake controller installed. That's just like the Silverado we we're working with earlier. However, that one is from the factory. The good news is with the Echo in line, it's going to stop the aftermarket or factory brake controller from sending it's signal through to the trailer. It takes all of the brake controller duties on until it's unhooked. At that point, your aftermarket or factory brake controllers are going to be right back working as they we're before. Now when comparing the Curt Echo to other brake controllers out there on the market, I think that the Tekonsha Prodigy RF is going to be the closest one. This is a brake controller system designed to mount and be permanently attached to your trailer.I think the Curt has some significant advantages in that this can be switched from trailer to trailer and vehicle to vehicle with zero issues or zero wiring really needed. Also, sometimes when pairing the Prodigy RF in a particular vehicle, it won't work. You'll have to use a second vehicle to actually get the system paired, and then get it in the vehicle that you want to use. This can lead to some headaches with certain vehicles and manufacturers. Another brake controller that it's going to be very comparable to is going to be the Prodigy P3. It's one of the best selling brake controllers that we have here at eTrailer, and people really tend to love it. With the P3, you're going to pick up a few additional axles as far as the capability goes. It's going to work for up to four axles. Very rarely are you going to see a triple or quad axle trailer, but some car haulers and campers do have them.So if your trailer has more than two axles, the P3 is going to be the way to go. We get slightly better diagnostics functions with the P3, but all in all it's going to take a lot more labor, it's going to take a lot more materials to get that brake controller installed in a lot of applications. Whereas, with the Curt Echo, simply plug it in. It has the diagnostic functions there that can help you in the event that we do have any issues. You can store the same amount of profiles, and overall the installation doesn't take any time at all. Now the only application we've really found so far where the Echo needs a little bit of assistance in working is on the Ford trucks. From '15 to '17, Ford kind of messed with the way that 12 volt power is supplied back to your plug on the back of your vehicle. What we recommend is just doing away with the factory 12 volt power going back and running your own 12 volt power through a circuit breaker from your battery. That alleviates that from the '15, '16, and '17 models. Now the good news, they've kind of revised that on the 2018. In that case, you just want to ensure that your total haul mode is activated. As long as that's activated, you're getting the power you need for this controller to work. And that's going to complete our look at the Curt Echo, part number C51180.

Bluetooth-enabled brake controller wirelessly connects to your smartphone, turning your phone into a brake control interface. The compact unit plugs in line with your 7-way trailer connector - no complicated install and no bulky cab-mounted unit. This unit draws power from my travel trailer so will only work when hooked up to it. 705715
This is a great brake controller. The only issue I had was that the instructions state that you need your car engine running and it would connect via Bluetooth to the controller.. However, in my case, and it just may be my car model and make, the controller only connected "after" the trailer was connected to the plug.. But no biggie, it worked great and easy to set up... 717296
Another great product from Curt and eTrailer! I was looking for a trailer brake setup that I could use on different trailers. The Curt product and eTrailer video helped me select this product. It's easy to set up and use, and works great with my tandem car hauler trailer! 704265
Wasn’t a great fit for my application because my 7-pin socket on the car angles down at 45 degrees and after the brake controller is installed and the trailer pigtail plugged in the cable hangs down pretty far. It hangs lower than the safety chains. It could be an issue. Otherwise, the controller paired right up and seems to work fine. 691278
I had to try a couple times to load the app on my phone. When the app loaded, setup was super easy and so far works great! Best part is no wiring or drilling. Very happy! 680053
worked perfect the very first time, very easy to set up 653388
Easy to set up and use, even for me who had never used trailer brakes before. Hauled my 10k trailer from Ohio to Idaho and it worked like a champ through the mountains and plains alike. I'm quite happy with it, had no connection issues, could hook up to my headset at the same time even though I have a pretty cheap phone. The app design leaves a bit to be desired, but is simple enough. 655051
Only used the controller for a 1/2 hour trip so far. It worked as advertised. Had a little difficulty syncing up with the app. Did not try taking an incoming call yet will driving with controller on . App. says you can, we'll see! 655406
This product has worked very well. I don't have a lot of experience with other brake controllers, but this little guy makes it very easy. There is NO wire installation. I just plug it in to my 7-pin connector then plug my trailer in to this. I connect my phone to it, and we're good to go. It very easy to adjust the settings when I need to. My phone can still connect to the car bluetooth at the same time. I have had nothing but a positive experience with this product. 668430
So far this works. It works and the app does not need to be on as some seem to think. I set up my phone so the app stays active in case I need to use the manual stop. The set up easy and the app is easy to use. Tweeting and adjusting was a breeze as I did it with only 4-5 slow and fast stops. I plan to put 1500 miles on it over the next 3 weeks so if things change I will update. 658190
I was pleasantly amazed at how simple the Curt Echo trailer brake controller was to install and use with my camper. Instead of spending a minimum of 8 hours and finding all the necessary accessories for a typical hard wired controller, I just plugged it , synched it and was done. It worked flawlessly on the first trip and I could not have been more pleased. Also, the vehicle I plugged into was not factory wired for towing lights but the Echo still worked without a problem. 655881
Be cautious of this unit. It works but has a lag in braking apply and release. Also be aware that the blue ring may not always show your braking force, which makes you question if it is even working. For a blue tooth unit, with no wiring, it works as expected. 2018 f150 669016
PROS: In my Tacoma there is really not a good place to mount a controller that is easy to see. Since this product uses my iPhone I can (using a ram mount) put it anywhere I want. Best visibility of any brake controller I have ever used. Button for applying trailer breaks manually works much better than I expected. Very easy to set up. CONS: 1. Minor gripe, since this unit rides outside your truck it needs to be tough, the plastic that it is made of seems like it would not survive much in the way of impact. 2. The unit does not fit snuggly in my standard Tacoma 7-pin receptacle. Added a single layer of duct tape around the circumference to resolve. 656462
Everything arrived as expected and in good working order. Thank you for the great customer service and use of tools like shipping tracking as well as the posted installation videos — very useful. 616020
true plug and play, can be used on my other vehicles and trailers.......what more can I ask for? Great product 640255
Almost EXCELLENT, small problem; won's stay inserted into the 7way socket. I've emailed etrailer and asked if this is a common problem, I'm sure they'll either have a solution or I'll come up with a strap of some sort. Fortunately ours is a 5th wheel and the connector is in the bed. If it was off the bumper it'd be a bigger problem for sure!! But he controller works great, easy to set up and I don't think I'll hit my leg on it. 647505
Just returned from a road trip using my new brake controller and everything worked as advertised. Connection with bluetooth was seamless and the app worked great, all connected with my travel trailer with no problems. Very pleased with the product. 602329
So far so good. Seems to work great. Super easy to set up. 616007
Great product, easy install and easy solution to add a electronic break to my MB GL550 636827
I haven't had a chance to try this out. Won't be getting a trailer until next month but I do expect it to work just fine. It really solved my problem, my Ford F150 has tow package but no brake controller and I really didn't't want to mess with wiring and drilling holes in the dash. So this is the perfect solution. Ordering was easy and arrived on time. 617754
I just tried this out today I was amazed as to how easy it was to download the app and to set it up I am glad i decided to go this route as I have 2 vehicles that I want to use to tow my trailer I wound up staying with the default settings as it worked best that way 612554
After a lot of research I purchased the Curt Echo Trailer Brake. I was looking for a trailer brake controller with a non-permanent installation, one that I could take out of the vehicle when I wasn’t using it. I was a little anxious because I have a European SUV and have read all the stories of the complications that can come with wireless/Bluetooth connections to the controller. After looking around for the best price I found that etrailer.com was competitive, and ultimately I went with them because of their reputation for service. I was not disappointed. My parts arrived sooner than expected and installation was a breeze. The Echo installed without any issues in a matter of minutes and works perfectly with my Audi Q5. And, no permanent fixture screwed into the dash of my SUV. Thanks etrailer. 605706
I have not used it as of now. It is exactly what I wanted and works with My Jeep Cherokee that no one could tell me where to get brake signal to install a normal brake controller. This is a great option because I had the dealer install the a 7wire connection from Jeep and hitch but they know how to install a brake controller. Also there is nothing in the cab or holes drilled in the dash. Just all you need is a smart phone. Great concept and item to used on any vehicle even the new ones with all the things that controlled by the computer on vehicle and has to be reprogrammed by the dealer at a high cost. Will post later when I have used it and will let you know how it works. 607002
I just completed two trips hauling cars this weekend the controller works great easy to hook up on phone easy to adjust 651999
Installed the app, connected with no problems after a few seconds and works just like it should. Very easy and saved the hassle of installing the harness into my truck for a traditional style trailer break. 608685
I purchased a 2018 Winnebago View(2017 Mercedes Sprinter chassis) and while it came with a hitch and 7 pin connector, it did not have a brake controller. The camping store tried to install a traditional controller but was unable to. While etrailer has a very nice video on installing a controller on the newer chassis, actually finding a shop to do the installation was difficult. Low and behold, when getting ready to order the parts from etrailer, I came across the Curt controller. I ordered one, received it in three days, it took about 15 minutes to install(from opening the package, downloading the app, pairing to my phone and adjusting the controller). Worked perfectly on a 500 mile trip that weekend. The even better part about the Curt controller is that it should work perfectly on our Acura MDX which likewise came with a hitch and 7 pin connector but no controller. 5 stars for convenience and usage. 597576
I'm using this with my new trailer, and it works well. I highly recommend it to people who don't want to install a brake controller in the cabin and/or are hauling their trailer with multiple cars. 591985
Item looks like it will last awhile. Nice quality, easy to download app and enable bluetooth. Great idea. saves all the hardwiring of a brake controller..Glad I found this 591741
I used this on my new 2018 Escalade this past weekend. It worked flawlessly pulling my dual axle 30ft car trailer. I turned off my WiFi at one point to see if the controller still worked and it did! I went this route because I didn’t want to mount anything in my vehicles interior. WORKS PERFECTLY!!! 597366
The part is not turning on when plugged in, I need to do some diagnosis on my end to see if my plug on the truck has power. 581419
I dont know if you have ever had the towing package on the Escalade activated before but there are two studs in front of the fuse box under the hood. There will be two wires you will have to connect to those studs before the 7-way plug gets power. I have attached a video of a brake controller installation on a 2009 Cadillac Escalade. You can ignore the installation of the brake controller until the video gets to the 7 minute mark of the video.
--We just took out the curt echo on a week long camping trip. Overall it worked well and as advertised but there was one incident that seemed dangerous. We were going down a particularly steep grade and wanted to turn on our emergency flashers because we were going very slow. When we turn on the emergency flashers the brake controller started breaking In conjunction with the pace of the lights flashing. We were super confused and couldn’t get it to stop because we didn’t realize what was going on until we got to the bottom of the hill. This felt like a really dangerous situation. We were driving a 2009 Acura MDX towing a 19 foot Jayco trailer. 613895
I spoke with Curt about the trailer brakes pulsing with the hazards and according to Curt, this is a function of the wireless nature of the controller. With an older wired-in controller, a pulse prevention device could be used but because this is a wireless device it wouldnt work. Curt states that there isnt a solution for this issue.
--This thing is awesome. Easy to connect. Very flexible to use on any vehicle that has a 7 way connect but might not have a brake controller. Definitely recommend! 608968
I recently returned from my first trip using the Curt Echo brake controller. I tow a 14,800 lb. 5th wheel trailer with a 2018 Ram 3500. I have had issues with the factory brake controller since I bought the truck and dealers said it was OK. After installing the Echo and getting the phone app (both very simple), I was off on vaca. This controller is awesome, easy to use and it really works, it is much better than the factory unit, more adjustable, and much more positive braking. I am very happy and would recommend the Echo to anyone that tows a trailer of any size. 594908
Easy to install and easy to use. 592212
I purchased the Curt Echo controller to pull a rented 26' travel trailer behind a factory tow-capable vehicle that head everything except a brake controller. As an zero-experience tower with infrequent towing plans; I didn't want to deal with the install of a typical controller. I also didn't like the non-integrated cosmetics of traditional after-market controllers. The Echo was extremely simple to setup and the braking experience towing the trailer was uneventful. Exactly what I wanted. The vehicle braked well and was only aware of the extra integration due to the live feedback on the Echo app showing application of the breaks in real-time. For my situation - this solution makes traditional controllers and wiring look obsolete. 592103
Amazing product. I've fixed the device in my v_nose trailer as I live where lots of dirt and snow could damage it. I use it with a 2010 dodge ram and a Mercedes ml350- had to get the LED converter attachement, but everything works great. The app is simple, but the unit can work without it. Can't find anything bad to say! 592368
Product works completely as described. Easy to add a controller to ANY vehicle that has a 7 point trailer plug like my 2018 Chevy Silverado (no factory brake controller but has a prewired 7 and 4 point trailer plug) or my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Trailer is a 2 axle CargoMate. App was a bit hard to find on the AppStore (iphone). Search "Echo" not Curt then it comes up. Set up is quick and easy to modify if necessary with load changes. App does not need to be normally running if you don't need to apply brakes manually. But if you do need to apply brakes, the response is surprisingly fast through the Bluetooth communication. No delay whatsoever. It doesn't interfere with other apps running either. I like to use navigation and stream music from my iphone 8. Only real issue I have with the product is that its not lockable. Very easy for someone who knows what they are looking for to just unplug and run. I parked overnight at a hotel and didn't realize it until the next day. Got lucky that it didn't get stolen, but now I'm aware and take it off when done towing. 588470
I'm very pleased with this product. After the figuring out phase and getting the brakes adjusted the way i wanted, it worked great! To get it to connect to the phone was an issue until we figured out the pin is on a sticker under the cover of the controller 592004
I got the chance to test out the Curt Echo brake controller today for the first time. I was a little nervous, what with it being wireless and all, but gave it a shot all the same. First, the installation. The installation could not have been easier. I downloaded the app from the Play Store (Android). The app does not take up a lot of space which was a plus. From there it was just a matter of plugging the Echo into the vehicle 7-Way, the trailer into the Echo, and pairing my phone and the Echo. It took about 2 minutes total; very fast. I did some low speed tests to make sure I had working brakes. The controller did its job and applied the trailer brakes with the pedal and with the manual override. Confident that I would have trailer brakes I set out for more testing. The controller is easy to use and the manual override button within the app is large and easy to see and use. Setting the gain and sensitivity higher or lower was simple and straightforward. The only thing that I did not notice was the amount of output while I was braking like you see on other in-cab brake controllers. I would have liked to see the amount of power being sent to the trailer brakes so the controller lost some points for that. The controller worked like other controllers in terms of applying the trailer brakes during normal operation. Low-speed, high-speed, town, country, and highway were all tested and the controller performed as it was supposed to. At a stop the controller held the trailer and vehicle using the manual override and without me using the vehicle brake pedal. When I pulled back in the parking lot after testing the app indicated that it had lost connection but the trailer brakes still worked. I had no connectivity issues at any other time. The bottom line: I give the Curt Echo 4 starts out of 5 because of the easy installation and solid performance but it lost that last star due to a lack of display information in the app and the brief connectivity loss. 582151
This brake controller is simply great! I recently changed tow vehicles where a traditional brake controller would not have easily been installed. This proved to be the perfect solution. It was very easy to setup and works great. Plus, and this is a huge plus, I can very easily transfer this to my other vehicles. I would highly recommend. 592054
Worked great!! 599224
Works fine except behind large diesel pusher motorhome. Will not stay connected to I-Phone. 730647
These controller is great! I use often like how easy it is to use. 730287
Product worked fine but giggled loose somewhere in Idaho on its very first trip. It was somewhat bulky and I was a little surprised when I put it on that there wasn't any type of security strap to hold it on. I bought it because I have 2 trailers and 2 tow vehicle (1 of them is a work truck that changes frequently) and it seamed like a good portable product between vehicles. Definitely not recommend for rough or off road use. 729670
I wish I had found this sooner than I did. No wiring, just set it to your vehicle and the braking strength, then plug it in to where you plug your trailer into. Then plug your trailer into it. Cheaper than paying someone to wire your brake controller in. Finally something that works excellent. 729495
Product works little to no lag with blue tooth. Not five star because the seven point connection I have comes out of my vehicle at about a 20% downward angle. The controller after time slides out despite the upper catch to keep it in place. This means after a couple hundred miles of driving I have to pullover and push back in or the brakes on the trailer lock up whenever I I press the brakes not matter how slight. 728287
Very easy to use without all the hassle of wiring and a controller mounted to the dashboard 727909
Love the trailer brake. I did have a little trouble getting it to work, but it was due to the truck being a 2018 F150. All working good now. 727765
Perfect for the few times I have had to pull a trailer. Have never had a problem with the app connecting. Would not recommend if pulling trailer regularly. 727572
Make sure to use the (unique) PIN that comes with the device - it's printed on the quick start card. "0000" and "1234" will NOT get the job done no matter how many times you try them. ;) Once it's set up, it's easy to use. You don't even need the phone or tablet unless you want manual control or to change the adjustments on the fly. That also means if you lose bluetooth connection or your device goes dead for whatever reason you don't lose break control (except manual engagement). Love it. 726845
