Video Transcript for In-Depth Review of the Fulton Boat Guide

Today we are going to be taking a look at the Fulton boat roller guide-ons, part number FBGR200101. Visually guide you boat onto your trailer with Fulton's easy to use boat roller guide-ons. It features durable long lasting cushion rollers to help guide your boat onto your trailer. It's made out of a galvanized steel construction and the included hardware is zinc plated so its going to resist rust and corrosion. It has a horizontal height of sixteen inches. Now that we have gone over some of the features we will go ahead and show you how to get it installed. So the first thing we need to do is go ahead and grab our mounting tube. Which is going to be this tight here and we are going to put a self taping screw here at the lower hole and right here on the other side.

So what we are going to do is take a self taping screw and then we are going to take a lock washer and put it on over it and then screw that down. Now lets grab our carpeted roller we'll set that on over the post and then we are going to take our Fulton cap and we are going to align the holes on the cap along with the holes on the post. Then we are just going to push that in place, and then we'll just take two more self taping screws and run those through. So same thing as before take the self taping screw put the lock washer on. Now the next thing we need to do is pick our desired location for where we want it on our frame. We are going to go with right here in front of our cross-member.

This is going to give us more rigidity. So then we'll take our saddle clamps and one of our U-bolts and we are going to start by running those down through. Get those set up. Then we'll take our post, we'll set it on our frame and we'll take our U-bolt and our saddle clamp and position one on the backside and then one on this side. Now that we've got it positioned up there we can grab the bottom portion of our bracket.

It's got four holes, so use whatever works best for your application. So we're going to use the first hole for sure. We're going to go up underneath and get it on there. Then we'll take an extra set of hands to hold that in place. We'll take our lock washer run that on, followed by our nut.

Get that started and we'll do the same for the backside. Now keep in mind everything we do here we are just going repeat the same step on the other side of the trailer. Now with that side being done let's go ahead and take the other portion of our bracket. Now we can go ahead and snug up our brackets, but first you can see this is adjustable so just go ahead and set it up to wherever works best for your boat. We are going to set ours right about right there. You want to make sure that your brackets are set even underneath your frame as you see here. All right now that those are nice and snug we can go ahead and torque those down according to our instructions. Now last thing, let's go ahead and put on our end cap on the inside here. And that is going to complete look at the Fulton boat roller guide-ons, part number FBGR200101.

Could not be more pleased. Terrific product fro a great vendor.

by:

These roller guides work great to align your boat on the trailer
Easy to mount and they come with all the nuts and bolts needed
You can’t go wrong using these to guide your boat onto the trailer !

by:

My cross bars on my trailer angered down at a 8.5 degrees so I made aluminum wedges at that angle so I could make them go in far enough. They worked perfect. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Trailer guides did not work for me. Unable to adjust them inboard enough to keep boat from hitting vendors. Will work if your hull hangs outside of trailer frame. Tubing Edgar was razor sharp and will cut you if you reach into box.

by:

Love the way the install went. We painted them black and they not only look great but are quite functional! The ordered arrived in 4 days! We didn't expect to have them for the next boat trip out but they showed up that quick! I highly recommend these guides

by:

I have a 14 foot deep v fishing boat that I needed to install a trailer boat guide after doing extensive research I found this product on entrailer website all galvanize steel hands-down the best made in America. The installation was very easy.

by:

These are perfect for my boat and trailer and were very easy to install.

by:

Internet blogs indicate there is a quality control issue and difficult assembly with the screws provided. I did experience an issue with one roller that was 3/32 too long, which caused the roller to interfere with and bind on the retaining screws, the carpet length was correct and the problem easily corrected with a hack saw and wood rasp. The self tapping retainer screws are a PIA to install if you follow the instructions. Remedy is prior to attempting to install the screws supplied, utilize a No. 10 stainless screw as a tap. It is easily screwed into the holes provided and perfectly taps the retainer screw holes. The retainer screws can then easily be installed and tightened, no drilling, blisters or profanity required. The rollers function perfectly on my installation.

Outstanding!! Easy load in any wind, current and wave action condition. A lifelimb savor.

by:

Easily installed. Low profile. Nice adfition to the trailer.

by:

The included 'self tapping screws' that hold the roller in place were not self tapping and were not the right size. I had to redrill to size the holes out and use my own hardware.

I'm also still adjusting the clamps - the guides have been moving around. Should be able to work it out but takes a few trips out.

If these hold up (I hope they will) and I didn't have the hardware issues I would rate higher - but not getting the proper HW sucks.

I had the same problem, Mike. Fortunately I had some good self tappers in my shop, and a great Mom and Pop hardware store just up the street. I was in construction for 45 years, but can see this would really frustrate someone inexperienced. I also get sick of getting metric hardware, but thats my problem.

by:

Received guide rollers very quickly. They appear well made and sturdy. I have not had time to install them but I would anticipate they will work just fine.

I changed boats and moved the rollers to new trailer. Still working great.

by:

Well Patrick, Had some serious issues with the roller guides. What should have been the easiest part of the assembly was not even do-able. To fasten the rollers to the support tube required the use of eight self tapping screws. Issue 1. As stated in the directions," use a #2 fillips screw driver to secure roller to tube. The Hulk could not turn those screws into those steel tubes. So, using a battery powered drill I tried to screw them in, at which time 5 of the eight broke off, one stripped out the head. At that point I was so done! You've got to come up with something different. I can't believe that I'm the only person that has had this issue. So, they are on the way back and replacements on the way. I want some one in management to screw those screws into one those units. Thanks at least your customer service people are top notch,

by:

When received, there was a problem with the fit of one of the rollers on the bent tube. The etrailer customer service was outstanding in rectifying the problem. A replacement was sent out immediately and a return label for returning the defective one was sent. The boat guides are very nice and easily installed. The price is right, too. The American Flag hitch cover is a great way to cover the hitch opening.

by:

bolted right up. works great.

by:

I like the Fulton as it can be mounted on the frame rail as it curves under the hull. It's 360 degree roller allows for that installation as my trailer is wider than usual for my 17' Whaler. The Fulton's 360 degree roller permits mounting on rail other than straight. I did find the holes drilled on the upright off measurement as once retaining screws were installed, the roller would not turn freely. I had to remove the rollers and grind each end of both rollers so they would turn freely once installed on the shaft.

by:

They work, they are stable and fairly strong. They don't seem like they will bend, but the carpet doesn't come all the way to the top of the metal and there isn't enough meat to protect the metal bar from digging into the boat on the top. It does have a plastic cap, but that isn't enough. If I could angle them out a few more degrees, that would be very helpful. I am going to try to use some shims to see if I can get the angle wider to put the meat of the roller on the boat and keep the end away. I might even try to add a better cap on the metal to keep it off the boat. It hasn't scratched anything yet, but I know it will based on my last use. I think for a lot of people this would work just fine. However, for my trailer and hull design, it just doesn't without some mods.

by:

This product worked well

Thanks

Jerry

by:

Not an exact fit for my boat and trailer, however with a little reworking I was able to fit the product to fit my needs.Had problems mounting the covered roller to the metal pipe as the screws that were furnished were to big to fit the pre drilled holes on the pipe.

by:

Purchased a few items for my 2017 tracker trailer. Items received in a few days nicely packed. Both the Fulton Boat Guide and CE Smith Post Guide Ons fit the trailer without issue and only took about 45 - 60 minutes to install. Very happy with the products and the purchase experience!

by:

Received product on time. But as other reviews stated - predrilled holes were offset. Although I was able to install the screws by hand. Rollers had to be trimmed to fit the screws. Simple task with hacksaw. Install on trailer very simple. Seems very tough. Confident this will work.

by:

Very sturdy unit. Easy assembly and ins tallation.

Working with no problems. Very satisfied with this purchasr

by:

These guides made all the difference in pulling the boat out of the water keeping it properly seated on the trailer.

by:

Just as described, can't give 5 stars tho, Box was taped shut from what looks like previous opening. Half of mounting parts missing in box, But I was able to get mounting parts from local hardware store to install.

by:

Had a lot of trouble loading my new boat on the trailer and this solved the problem. Easy to install. Helped to cut off excess of bolts after I hand tightened so could use a deep socket to complete tightening. Seems very durable and doesn’t mark the boat.

by:

Fast shipping and a good item. Very easy to install. I would recommend this product.

  • Boat Guide Recommendations for a 2000 Performance Trailer and American Sail Boat
The Fulton Boat Guide, # FGB1500100, is designed for up to 3 x 5 inch trailer frames, but not any specific trailers. Provided that the trailer frame on your 2000 Performance Trailer is within the 3 x 5 inch range, it will fit. Since the guide is made of PVC, you will not be able to manipulate that portion of it, should it not quite match the boat correctly. You may need to modify the mounting bracket, or fabricate your own, to get it in the position you need for the boat. Another option...

When installing the Fulton Boat Guide # FBGR200101, the rollers should turn relatively easily, yes. I took a look and while uncommon, this has happened with these guides before, but you can remedy the issue doing exactly what you mentioned, which is remove some of the roller. I added a cut out from a customer review who had the same issue, and his resolution was to go ahead and grind the roller while another person used a hacksaw to cut off a small amount and it fixed the issue.

Based on your attached image, but double check your measurements before ordering, I suggest the CE Smith Bow Roller for Boat Trailers, # CE29542.
