BoatBuckle's second-generation transom tie-down straps bolt to the rear crossmembers of your trailer and simplify the securing and unloading of your boat. They are designed to keep constant tension on the strap and require minimal ratcheting to secure your load. Instead of always having to find and store tie-down straps that hook to the tie-down anchors on the back of your boat, BoatBuckle's straps are always right where you need them. Just pull up on the hook and strap, attach the hook to the transom, and then operate the ratchet several times. No more dealing with extra webbing or looking for the tie-down strap. And when unloading, simply push the release button on the ratchet, free the hook from the transom anchor and let the strap retract back down into the ratchet.

Installation

These straps come with the mounting hardware that you'll need to install them. It is recommended that you use anti-seize (LT37616 - sold separately) to ensure that the nuts are properly tightened down over the bolts. You can mount the ratchets with the included bolts directly to the trailer frame or crossmember. If you need to angle the ratchet strap or move it a little farther off the frame, a universal mounting kit (IMF14254 - sold separately) is available.

Note: Transom tie-downs should always be used along with a winch strap and a pair of gunwale tie-downs. All straps and cables should be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Where have you been with all my boats over the years? I no longer have to worry about where to put my straps after we launch the boat. The retractable strap is quick-out of the way- don't have to scrounge getting the straps anymore. The bolts are heavier enough to hold my 26' cutty cabin. Best investment ever 583237

After years of using conventional straps for my Bass Tracker, I decided to try these. They hold tight with just a couple of clicks and do not loosen at all. At the ramp it's one less thing to hassle with, just pop them loose and forget about them until it's time to strap down. Highly recommend. 503826

Great product. I installed them on my Ranger Boat trailer. Makes loading and unloading much easier and faster. When using crowded boat ramps it is courteous to get in or out as quickly as possible. These ratcheting tie-downs are simple and fast. They are very well made so you can tow safely and have the confidence that whatever you are towing is secure. 582273

Great service as usual from etrailer.com. Fit perfect on my Tracker 175 TXW. Disappointed in the product however. First off, the hardware is junk. The bolts have burrs and it was impossible to thread the nuts. Had to make a trip to Lowes to replace the bolts, which is ridiculous for a relatively expensive product to be supplied with such cheap hardware. Also surprised by how flimsy the plastic pieces are on the buckles. Makes you paranoid that they might break at any second when cranking down on the straps. I will be surprised if these hold up for more than one season. If I had to do it over I would buy something else. 602088

  • Recommended BoatBuckle Ratcheting Straps to Hold a 2012 Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW
The BoatBuckle Ratcheting Straps that I recommend for your application is the G2 Retractable Transom Tie-Downs # IMF08893. Their Safe Working Load Limit is 833 lbs for each one, which will be more than enough to secure your 2012 Tracker Pro Team 175 TXW since the tie downs are use to keep your stationary boat from moving; not to stop a moving load. Their Maximum Load Strength (or Break Strength) is 2,500 lbs each. From the picture that you sent (which is always appreciated), it looks...

  • Stainless Steel Transom Strap Recommendation for Boat Trailer
For a stainless steel version of the part # IMF08893 that you referenced that would do better in saltwater applications you would want the part # IMF14256 instead. Part # IMF14256, uses a stainless steel body that resists rust and corrosion. The S-hooks are a vinyl-coated steel like the hooks on the system you referenced, for protection of the boat finish. These do come with the mounting hardware. I have attached a link to a product review video you can check out.

  • Differences Between Boatbuckle Cargo Buckles # IMF08893 and # IMF14256

You could bolt the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Downs # IMF08893 to the aluminum trailer frame provided you used aluminum mounting hardware instead of steel. The only other way, like you said, would be to add an extension piece to make it easier to reach the tie down. For your 1400-lb boat/motor I suggest you play it safe and use the 2-inch Ratcheting Transom Tie-Downs # IMF08893. These have enough capacity plus a nice safety margin. With items like tie down straps you always want to use them within their WLL, or working load limit. This is their actual real-world capacity, as compared to their breaking strength which is 3 times the WLL. The idea is to choose a tie down that will never be used near its break strength. • Selecting Replacement Tie-Down Straps for Waverunner Trailer
Wider tie-down straps are fine for your PWC application, even if they are replacing 1-inch-wide straps. The key is that you do not exceed the straps' WLL, their Working Load Limit. WLL is the most load you want to put on the straps; it is 1/3 of their break strength. Staying within the 833-lb WLL of the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893 will ensure a long working lifespan.
