Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Steadyrack Bike Storage Rack

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a look at this Steadyrack wall mounted bike storage rack. Now this rack is going to give you the ability to store one e-bike on the wall of your garage or your home or your office and this is also going to work with e-bikes that have fenders or mud guards. Now this does have a weight capacity of about 77 pounds and this is going to work with a maximum tire width rather, of two and three quarters inches and a wheel diameter from 20 inches to 29 inches with a minimum clearance between your front tire and down tube of three quarters of an inch. This easy to load bracket is going to hold your bike securely and it's going to hold it by the front wheel of your bike. This thin U-shaped brim, that we have right here, is designed to fit easily between your tire and fender and this really does have a space saving design. This rack actually will swing from side to side.

Let me show you the back of this real quick. Again, this is going to work a lot easier if I have this mounted on a wall, but I just kind of wanted to give you a demonstration here, showing you that this can swing from side to side while you have a bike in there. So this is going to be perfect for areas with limited storage space and this is going to let you use multiple racks close together and that tensioned hinge will not allow this to move on its own. You're actually gonna have to apply pressure to your bike so it'll swing, so you won't have to worry about your bike swinging back and forth while it's on this rack, while it's stored on this rack. Now this rear wheel bracket that we have right here is going to help keep your bike straight on this rack while it's mounted on your wall and it can be positioned to accommodate any wheel base.

And this bracket has a, let me zoom out here real quick so I can show you a little bit better. This bracket will fold flat for compact design. So when you have this mounted on your wall and you have this folded flat, this is what it's going to look like and this is going to stick out about four and a half inches from your wall. So again, it's going to take up virtually no space when this is folded up and you're using your bike. And this is going to be a a very easy installation.

It comes with all of the hardware that you need to successfully install this. And on your screen I'm just going to put a picture up, giving you an idea of what this is going to look like holding your bike while this is secured to your wall. Now this does feature a black plastic and chrome plated steel construction, so you're not going to have to worry about rust or corrosion. I think it's gonna hold up very nicely for you. And this also includes a great set of instructions to walk you through the installation process.

And again, all of the hardware that you are going to need to successfully install this on your wall is included. And just some overall dimensions. The overall height, we're sitting at about 26 inches tall and this is going to stick out, the total depth, about 22 inches or so. And then the overall width at the widest points, we're sitting right at about four inches wide and all together this weighs a little under seven pounds. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

The product itself is an excellent solution for compact storage of an e-bike. The ability to move the bike side to side is very useful. Not having to lift the weight of the bike is probably the best feature.

However the installation instructions in my opinion are poor. Mounted per their instruction the mount was about 2 inches too high making it virtually impossible to walk the bike into the mount per the demonstration video. After remounting 2" lower it works great.

In my opinion the mounting hardware was marginal to engage through the drywall and garage studs. They were metric fasteners as well which is not desirable in my case. I replaced them with longer more substantial lag bolts.

Still very satisfied with the product.

Great price, quick shipping and communication was timely and informative. Thanks

etrailer was very timely with my order. They shipped quickly to the west cost. The packaging was excellent. The product arrived in perfect condition.
This is the best bike rack on the market...no contest. I own 3 steady racks from etrailer.com. The are very. very easy to mount. I have 3 e-bikes on the steady rack. The ebikes weigh 56 pounds, no problem. The big 2.5 inch knobby wheels fit perfectly. The easy racks fold against the wall when not in use and when in use you can swing the bikes left or right to increase room for walking by next to your car or trucks. Simply put...if you have a bicycle go to etrailet.com. pick your rack. buy your rack online. etrailer.com has your back. The easiest and best rack youll ever buy. not even close.

Great bike rack design and execution. Bike remains secure. Swivels from side to side easily. Easy to install. You may have to adjust the top bolt/screw (1 of 2 lag bolts to secure the device into the wall) higher or lower depending on how much ease of swiveling from side to side you desire. The rear tire holder is a plastic, not steel V shaped piece that although it works OK, could be better if the designers used more of a C shaped piece. That way when you do swivel your bike from side to side, the rear tire won't slip out. Regardless of the rear tire does slip out, the bike remains firmly in the grip of the Steadyrack. This idea is an improvement on the design and would keep the bike more secure and allow more freedom of movement without changing the design much. I will be making my own rear tire holder out of metal just for my own convenience. Great product. Definitely recommend.

The Steadyrack works great and I'm glad I got a couple of them. The installation is a bit tricky though because the rack works best if the bike's rear tire is about 1"-2" off the floor. Lower and it can drag and it is amazing how the difficulty increases, for rolling the bike onto the rack, without lifting, if it is higher. Since there is a little flex when the rack is loaded you may have to mount it, load a bike, and then remount it once you see the actual sag based on the bike's weight. If you have more than one bike, check the sag for all the bikes with the first install, (of the largest bike), then you'll probably be able to estimate the mounting height for the remaining racks. If you plan on mounting the rack higher, and just lifting the bikes, rather than rolling them on, then the exact height isn't so important.

(Rolling them on means holding the rear brake, walking the bike backwards to lift the front tire until the bike wheelies up to the 12 noon position, and then easing off the rear brake in order to roll the bike forward to the rack, then just pushing forward until the front tire rolls over the "V" of the rack and into place.)

We have e-bikes that are about 50 lbs and the racks handle that weight well.

Fabulous product, with great installation instructions. The additional note on the fender rack was very helpful. The etrailers team was great--fast shipping, product exactly as advertised, and good follow up!

Our swiveling Steadyrack bike storage has exceeded our expectations in every way. A previously unusable curved wall in our garage is now home to the bikes, and the swivel action of the storage racks allows them to lay nearly flat, thus tremendously increasing our otherwise tight garage space. Our contractor mounted the racks quickly and easily. They are handsome and efficient and certainly one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. What a joy to own such a fine product that delivers as promised. Thank you!

by:

Great rack and very easy to mount. High quality and etrailer is a great company to do business with. Highly recommend.

by:

Easy to install and work great to save space in garage!

by:

Product was easy to install, is easy to get bikes on and off, folds nicely against the wall, we purchased 2 of these racks - the bikes they hold are heavy and large 29 inch wheels 21.5 inch frames , mountain bikes weighing about 30 pounds. The ability to fold them against the wall makes it easy to access other items hanging in the garage. They seem well made and durable.

by:

Works great. Easy installation. The wife loves that she can get her bike down without any assistance. Would highly recommend for its storage capabilities and easy of use.

Don't judge me... I like bikes. I don't drink or smoke or gamble. I don't need a fancy car or fancy clothes... But I do like bikes.

This has it's benefits like good health, spending time outdoors, fun with family and friends. But there are also challenges like where to put the bikes? How to keep my wife happy when the cars don't fit in the garage? How to make room for the next bike?

I wanted something that was easy to use, held my bikes safely, worked with carbon wheels and frames and allows my wife to get her car in the garage. The Steadyrack looked like it might work.

I was able to get 6 bikes hung in the same area where I previously had 2, awesome. It is easy enough to get them in and out that my wife said she liked it, score. It supports the bikes under the wheels which is the safest way to hold them, nice. Works with carbon wheels, even my zipp 404s, cool. I was impressed with the quality of the hardware and construction, no shaking, jiggling or worries that it might fall.

It didn't work with my time trial bike because there is not enough clearance between the front wheel and frame. So I stuck with the frame hanger on that one. And my kids were not big enough to stand their bikes up and hang them, so I put them in a floor rack.

Overall I would say mission accomplished. I got 6 bikes out of the way but still accessible and 2 cars back in the garage.

by:

Best way to store fat tire bikes! Easy install and works great.

by:

Dry wall mounting is a little bit sketchy. I hung it but felt like sooner or later it would loosen up so I ended up beveling it out by making 2 x 4 wedges to get the bike flatter against the wall and used toggle bolts to mount it and it's pretty awesome: Tucks right in behind my small apartment door.

If you're mounting to a stud or a beam, it works great right out of the box but be prepared to get creative with sheet rock and dr wall or if you're trying to hide it flat behind a door.

by:

It's exactly what we needed. Our house was built in the 1920s, and there just isn't a lot of storage space. No garage, a tiny shed out back, and a cellar that is a pain to get in and out of. We had been storing our bikes in the sunroom next to the kitchen since we got them. With the Steadyrack, we are able to hang our bikes on our small back porch, above the cellar door. We hung them high enough to clear the cellar door. And because we can swivel one of the bikes out of the way, we can access the door (ie, haul stuff in and out of the cellar) without having to take the bikes down.

by:

Works great. Takes a little instruction to bring bike on back wheel to load rack but easy once technique is followed.

by:

We are very pleased with our bike racks! It is exactly what we were looking for & doesn’t take up a lot of space??

by:

We installed three of these racks last year in our back mudroom since we are frequent bikers, two of us doing so year-round even here in Vermont.

The racks are incredibly convenient and easy to use. I simply hop off my bike, wheel it just inside the back door, then pop a "wheelie" and roll the front tire into the rack. I used to lift my whole bike up onto a hook which was incredibly inconvenient, difficult to do with an injury, and impossible for my wife and son.

Current challenges: My 9-year-old struggles a bit to get his front tire in the air to pop into the rack, but I think this has more to do with his level of coordination. Also, if the front tire has a fender (to prevent the rooster tail effect in rainy weather), it does not sit well into the rack without some extra effort.

I enjoy this rack very much and get use from it all the time. I recommend it for moderate to heavy users of their bikes.

by:

Very easy to install and functions exactly as advertised

by:

Arrived with all pieces intact. Very good and simple mounting instructions--better than the goofy 3rd-party [online} video I watched and should've skipped. It would be nice to add slotted stud-mount holes to allow small adjustments up and down. The rack is solidly built and operates as advertised. It is definitely easy enough for my wife to use with her bike. I am mounting these on 16" centers. The swing allows you space to get another bike on or off by just moving one out of the way.

by:

I love the Steadyrack, it was the perfect bike rack to finish off our garage. It was easy to install and folds out of the way. Due to the swivel I can fit a lot of bikes in a small space. The manufacturer had this on backorder for a few months but etrailer kept in touch the whole time.

by:

Love my steadyracks (I bought 3), work as well as advertised. My only complaint is I wish the wall anchors for the lag bolts had collars.

by:

This is a great way to store bikes and free up floor space in a tightly packed garage! The bikes are safely out of the way.
While our youngest/smallest child can’t get the bike on the rack (our installer/garage manager, aka Dad, likes symmetry and had to have all the racks at the same heights), the little one can certainly get the bike down easily. So much better than randomly placed bikes wobbling on their kickstand!

by:

Good design. Easy to place bike into holder. Installation was quick. I like it compared to many others.

by:

Finely a product that really is what it says it is.
