Yakima FatCat Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review - 2013 Mazda 5

Today on our 2013 Mazda5, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Fatcat 6, a locking rooftop ski and snowboard carrier with a six-ski or four-board capacity, Part Number Y03088. With our Yakima control towers roof rack system already installed on the Mazda, we'll begin our test fit by grabbing the front half of our carrier and placing it onto our front load bar. We'll bring both of our black rubber-coated metal straps around the underside of our load bar and fit the one closest to us into the foot of the carrier. We'll then open our top jaw, reach in and lift up on the black lever and loosen it slightly. This allows the small gray catch to lift up, allowing us to cam our buckle closed. We can then tighten that black lever down slightly and push it down to secure that gray catch around our buckle. With the passenger side secure, we'll now make our way around to the driver's side. We just repeat that same process. With the front half of our carrier secure, we'll now grab the rear half and place it onto our rear load bar. We'll want to take a quick look to be sure we have both halves of the carrier centered, then we can repeat the same tightening process that we used for the front. With both halves of our carrier secure, we'll now press the black buttons located here on the end.

Whispbar Roof Ski and Snowboard Carrier Review - 2013 Mazda 5

Today, on our 2013 Mazda5, we're going to be test fitting the Whispbar Locking Rooftop Ski and Snowboard Carrier with a 6-ski or 4-board capacity in silver. It's part number WB-300. With our Yakima Control Tower Roof Rack System already installed on the Mazda, we'll begin our test fit by grabbing the front half of our carrier and placing it onto our front load bar. We'll press the black button located on the end of the carrier. This will allow us to open our top jaw. Lift up on the black lever and loosen it slightly. This disengages the catch for our buckle.
