Wonderful product. I had the hitch installed in 10 minutes. The wiring was a little more tricky because it required running a power wire all the way to the battery. I towed my trailer from Florida to Tennessee and back. Etrailer is still wonderful to deal with as they always have been in the past. My hitch came in a couple of days. I wouldn't think of ordering from any one else.

works well brings the trailer tongue up to level. I have it on an EV so the raddle is annoying, because I just keep on forgetting to buy a anti rattler.
This is very sturdy hitch. It is made of solid steel, not tubing. It will be used on my Mazda RX-3 to tow my car dolly to the RV lot where I will swap everything around and the car will end up on the dolly behind my RV.

I am an infrequent trailer user, but getting my daughter home from college was necessary in March. This drawbar fits my hitch and utility trailer well, did exactly what it is supposed to do, and was the last thing to be concerned about right then. I have a '11 Mini Countryman S with a Class II receiver from Mini Fini, (which cost twice as much as a Curt) where the hole is flush with the fake grille near the bottom of the bumper cover, so I needed the long bar to reach out past the bumper. The Curt receiver for that car hangs visible underneath the bumper (ugly), which also increases the lever arm on the receiver beam and would have needed an even taller rise. (Curt take note!) All just part of the kit to create an occasional 1 ton pickup out of my Mini, leaving the "bed" at home most of the time.

I am towing an 820 lb. Sylvan Sport pop-up with my VW Golf. This is the maximum weight I can tow with my car. Because the Golf has a very low clearance, finding a tow bar with enough lift has been difficult. I went through two previous tow bars that made attaching the trailer difficult, especially in non-level campgrounds. The Curt drawbar with a 5" rise was the solution to my problems, it gives me just enough lift to deal with all situations
For Mazda CX-3 owners, this is the drawbar you need to achieve the correct final hitchball height for small U-Haul cargo or motorcycle trailers. You know the receiver sits quite low so this gets the height just where it needs to be, especially when the trailer is properly weighted/loaded.

I used this on a 2014 Ford Fusion with a Reese receiver hitch made for my vehicle. Either the neck of the drop hitch is not long enough to get the ball a few inches away from the vehicle or the Reese receiver hitch sits too far under the vehicle.
This product came exactly as described and is the perfect fit for my hitch to allow me to pull a trailer.

Here's 2 photos of the finished product. Doesn't stick out very far which is fantastic, because it definitely would have looked bad on the back of a 2 door coupe GTP. As for installation, being a mechanic, all I had to do was remove 2 rear exhaust rubber hangers and the one right behind the fuel tank, lower the exhaust onto a set of jacks to support the weight. Then drilled 2 1/2" holes with a 90 degree drill. The coiled wires included with the parts saved me tons of time trying to get the bolts in. Overall, it was fairly simple to install. Torquing the bolts proved a little difficult. I would recommend you inform the customers that they'll need at least a 10" eye to eye reciever (I have the 11" one on mine) in order to clear the rear bumper and provide some space between the bumper and trailer tongue. As for the wiring, I cut a small slit in the rubber plug under the spare tire, ran some bulk trailer wiring up through it, under the tire, under the floor matting, to the right side of the trunk, behind the tail light. And up under the lid on the right side, is the tail light wire harness/connector. Test light confirmed which wires were hot, tapped into them and all the wires and lights are good to go. Just some extra info for the DIY'er that might be handy on the website so they won't have to search for it! Couldn't be happier with the hitch.

Three stars only due to my specific case on the factory-installed hitch on a 2015 VW Tiguan. The black powder coat finish was applied extremly thick, and as such it would not slide into the hitch opening on the Tiguan. The reciever I used on my Jetta wagon slid in without issue, but the ball height woul be excessive, hence the need for this one. I spent about an hour removing the powder coat and appling a thin coat of rust preventitive paint in order to use it as intended.

This drawbar was exactly what I needed with the 5" rise. I use it to tow my boat. My car is low to the ground so the rise was just what I needed. The drawbar is very durable as well. When I was out on my boat a hit and run was done on my trailer. The trailer was pushed into my car and both were moved about 3 feet forward. The drawbar didn't break in half. It was bent but it prevented any damage to the rear of my car because of the quality construction of the drawbar.

Received the Class II Drawbar 5-1/2" Rise or 6" Drop - BM96 in a timely manner. The rise was what I was looking for to use with my Polaris ATV 570 since its standard receiver is 1-1\4 hitch and sits low to the ground. This was just the right height to pull my john boat behind the ATV.
I just purchased a new hideaway hitch system. But the hitch sits only 15 inches off the ground at best. And, my trailer coupling is 22-23 inches off ground. So l needed 7-8 inches of rise on the new 1.25 inch receiver system. Internet research took me to etrailer and the Brophy hitch. I got 5.5 inches with the Brophy hitch, the highest available for a 1.25 inch receiver I could find. The others are limited to 5 inches max. I added another 1.5 inches with your Curt shock absorbing hitch. Voila, with a combined 7 inches of rise and on level ground the trailer now rides perfectly level!!!! Both parts were very easy to connect. Delivery was speedy. Thank you for saving the day and my investment in an expensive new hideaway hitch!

I installed the trailer wiring and a friend helped install the hitch. Etrailer website is excellent. I got the right items on time and the fit is better than my wife’s dealer installed hitch. Videos on the etrailer site are clear and correct. One caveat, don’t try installing the hitch without at least one other person and having a way to lift the car(we used ramps) is a great help. The only possible way etrailer could be any more helpful is if they could recruit some local shops that would be willing to do the installation. I especially like having my wiring in the passenger compartment when not in use. It keeps it out of the Salt here in the northeast.
I got a hitch for my Honda accord it was extremely easy to install took less time than they estimate after I installed it I bought a trailer and have hauled various things already with no problem I would recommend e trailer to anyone

I've got a lowered 1995 VW Jetta with a 1.25" receiver. I had to use a 6" extension along with a long, straight drawbar so any steep incline had me going at an angle and even then I would sometimes scrape. Some one had this drawbar on their Jetta and it looked good. With the measurements provided on this site I determined it would sit far enough away from my bumper and elevate the ball so my trailer wouldn't be angled down so much. Very glad I ordered this unit, it fits the car and works perfectly! Much better than my previous fix.
This is the correct towbar for a Toyota Prius C. The towbars that are available from U-haul (3 1/8") and other hardware stores are too low to the ground for most trailers. I tow my Harley Dyna on a motorcycle trailer behind my Prius C with no problem. Save yourself the grief. I bought three readibly available tow bars until I found the right one. The 5" rise, 10" long works perfectly. This is an incredibly strong drawbar.

The drawbar being hollow in the male end seemed to be too large in diameter to fit the female receiver on my car's fairly new hitch. I had to hammer the drawbar into the hitch. I doubt i will ever be able to remove this drawbar without destroying what it was hammered into. While drawbars with solid male ends easily slid in and out of my car's hitch. I'm not pleased.
I ordered a Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch for my 2005 Toyota Avalon, a hitch ball, a drawbar with a 3 1/2" rise and the wiring kit necessary to connect my car to a 4 prong trailer connection. The tutorials were great and along with the instructions included made the installation fairly easy to install everything myself. The prices were the best I could find on all the items and everything shipped fairly quickly and arrived in good time. I use all of these products together weekly to pull my boat and enjoy various lakes that are available in my area. Strong and seems to be well made and well finished. One-inch ball mounting hole. I used this for a Curt hitch mounted on a 2014 Forester and pulls a small Harbor Freight trailer. Perfect height and trailer is level. Warning - don't get their hitch pin, it does not have a hole for a cotter pin, only a weak clip that I would not trust.
I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. I wasn't sure what type of ball mount I needed for my new Mazda CX-9, so I had to call a representative. The first time I called, the very knowledgeable gentlemen told me exactly how to measure my SUV to figure out the drop I needed. I called back the next day and talked to a lady who helped me figure out exactly what I needed. This is my second purchase from etrailer. I needed to tow a trailer with a 2" ball. My original ball mount has a 1 7/8" ball installed. I had previously tried to change a ball on a hitch and destroyed the nut and damaged the underside of the ball mount. The lock washer had done a great job in keeping the nut from coming off. I dreaded trying to remove my 1 7/8" ball to install a new one that I would only use once. I decided to buy a new ball mount and mount the new 2" ball. This ball mount is so inexpensive that I realized I could have both ball sizes permanently mounted for use in either ball size.

I purchased the AMSC10 because I needed a 10" drop hitch to tow my lowboy enclosed trailer with my lifted Toyota Tundra. I tried several other types of hitches with this towing combo and I was always disappointed. Mostly because of the fit/sloppiness of the ball mount into the receiver. This would cause a lot of noise and the feeling of the trailer "bucking" while hitting bumps and such. The other hitches that I tried were those cool aluminum ones, both a fixed one and an adjustable one. Although they were pretty, both left me very disappointed. The shipping for this hitch from Etrailer was fast and efficient. I received emails informing me of my order status throughout the whole process. Upon receiving my AMSC10, I tested it out and found it to be a much nicer fit into the receiver. Once I hooked up to the trailer and began to tow, the difference was extremely noticeable. This hitch is quiet, it doesn't buck, and in fact, comparatively, you wouldn't even know the trailer was behind you unless you looked. I am actually really excited about towing with this hitch. I know it sounds goofy, because it is, but it makes the task so much more pleasurable with the cushion ball mount. I'm already thinking about buying the 8" drop for my normal trailers.
This is such a great idea! It works flawlessly with my Jeep Wrangler and my Offroad trailer. The dampening incorporated into the hitch makes my ride so much smoother. I used to hear the clanking, tapping and banging while braking and while trailering offroad, but not any more! I highly recommend this hitch to anyone.
