Best Ford F-250 Super Duty 5th Wheel Tailgates

This tailgate looks great and works great. The instructions are easy to follow for the installation. It took me about 20 minutes to complete the installation process. I recommend the Carlson Stromberg 4000 series tailgate.

I ordered it late Tuesday evening and it arrived Friday. The tailgate is nice and easy to install after watching the video. I was able to make my OEM backup camera work with a little imagination, as you can see in the pictures. I'm very happy with etrailer and this product.

I really like the tailgate but installation was harder than expected. 2 suggestions: 1. Make the flanges at the bottom of the edge covers "clip in" instead of screw in. The screws are very hard to access without taking the tailgate off -which is really hard to impossible. 2. Add a node for installing back-up camera. Tailgate looks great and opens/closes perfectly.

My son and I just installed the Stromberg Louvered Tailgate in only 20 minutes , just a few minor adjustments to the side covers and it fit like a glove. And to be honest , my wife loves it because I nearly tore the factory tailgate off our f 250 when I forgot to lower it after disconnect of our fifthwheel . Thank you etrailer.com

Fits perfectly and matches my F350 bed design nicely. Install was simple and fast. Great replacement to a tailgate that was rotting away, plus I notice the lack of drag with this new tailgate. Just like advertised, my view when backing up to hitch up is much more clearer. Awesome product.

I was told this tailgate cannot be painted,well yes it can be just use a flex agent in base and clear.

It works fine. Sometimes it gets stuck and doesn't want to unlock but I finally get it. Other than that it's fine. I wish it had a place for the backup camera. I was able to drill a hole and make it work. Other than that I'm happy with it. I would buy another one.

Hello, I purchased the 2015 Ford F-150 Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate and followed the directions. Everything worked correctly until I reached Step 11 - Reattach your factory tailgate cables to your new 100 Series tailgate.. The nuts are built into the tailgate. You need to either include (2) 1/2-inch nuts or state in the documentation the customer must purchase (2) 1/2-inch nuts to complete Step 11. I attached a picture showing the Ford tailgate and cable and the finished install. The install went faster than expected less than 30 minutes and looks great on my truck.

I have a 2019 F250, and a tab that goes on the passenger side is about a quarter inch too long to fit into the receptacle, very labor-intensive to install

Tailgate word perfectly for my needs, I live in northwestern New Mexico and use it spring to fall for 5 th wheel convenience during hookup and dropping trailer. The light weight and v shape eliminates much of the fear of baking normal tailgate into trailer. I don’t have to drop tailgate to hook up. Was difficult to sand rubber inserts to fit on initial install but I got it done, also doesn’t provide theft deterrent from bed as the v opens enough for hand to reach latch on by backflip tonneau cover however I knew that would be the case before I purchased. I am totally satisfied with my tailgate.

Worked great! A few times it was difficult to get latched. It would latch after four attempts or less. I checked to make sure it was properly aligned. It was. I would suggest this product to others. Have sold the truck now! Upgraded to a newer one. Thanks

Great addition to the tailgate. It really brings out the look of your Stromberg Carlson 4000 Tailgate. I have never been one to stand on my tailgate. I always use a step ladder so this will last me a lifetime. Very happy with this purchase.

strongest part of the tailgate ! Metal was perfectly aligned and went together seamlessly once holes were drilled.

After removing an old seal which hadn't fully filled the gap around the tailgate, I installed the new Trailseal Gasket on my 2017 F150 in 15 minutes or so. The only potential problem area is at the lower corner of the tailgate where the metal is curved near the hinge. I added small piece of gasket directly on the tailgate to better seal the gap. I had also done this with the old gasket and it seems to stay in place OK. I live in Western Colorado which has plenty of dirt or gravel roads. The day after installing the new Trailseal gasket I was on one of those gravel roads and it appears that very little if any dust got sucked into the bed. The truck also has a tonneau cover, so if the seal is good, the interior stays reasonably dust free. This proved to be an excellent product and did what it was advertised to do.

I ordered the TrailSeal Tailgate Gasket for my 2022 Ford F-150 Platinum which has a power tailgate. The install took about 15 minutes and appears that it will do a good job of sealing out dust and snow. The kit had good instructions and contained more than enough material. After installation the tailgate closed and locked with a push of the button. When installing make sure you have everything lined up the way you want as the adhesive will not let you reposition the gasket.

The product is doing a reasonable job of keeping dust out of the covered bed interior but is starting to loosen and correspondingly allowing more dust into the bed due to the adhesive starting to fail. I will reset the seal with some automotive trim adhesive.

The seal works very well on my 2018 Silverado, with the exception of the area near the top of the tailgate, where there is just not a good way to seal it. Not the fault of Extang tape, so I sealed almost all the way to the top and I never have any issues with dirt or rain getting in. I would buy this product again.

Seal installed easily With exception of sidewall seal on my 2019 Ford Ranger Lariat. Big gap between sidewall and tailgate, Resorted to putting seal next to the taillight assembly as shown in pictures, no gaps between tailgate and seal.

worked great for about 10 opening and closings of the tail gate, then the large "bottom" piece started coming off. now a year later, the bottom piece is off and I have a dusty truck bed. yay gravel road life....

After I installed this tailgate, I can never go back to the original! The photo speaks for itself. East assembly with no adjustment for proper fit. Installed on 11-1 more than 10 compliments on 11-2. A must have even if you don’t have a 5th wheel..

For the price this is a decent tailgate. It is a good looking tailgate, has a lock which is important to me install while not difficult, could have been made easier with better instructions. Closing is not as crisp as I would like and a far cry from the OEM tailgate. Still in all it should serve my needs to allow easy hookup with my 5th wheel and to keep gear in the truck bed while traveling. For those looking for an inexpensive but decent tailgate this is a good choice.

The cutout for the gooseneck needs to be lower. We really have to crank up our trailer to clear the tail gate.

Not only was the item delivered on time at a lower price than anther place I ordered and then cancelled after almost two months of waiting it is a very nice tail gate

Previously opened and re-stapled box. Part had minor scratches like it was previously installed and sent back then sent to me as new. Had no drivers side cup welded to the frame for hinge. Hopefully the replacement is better quality than this one and not used and returned and performs as designed.

This tail gate is very good. It fit perfectly on my 2016 Silverado 3500. The only issue I have is the locking mechanism does not always release. That can be easily resolved with a screw driver or keys. It is an annoyance but other than that it is a good value for the product.

One year ago I purchased this model tailgate for my 2003 Silverado. I found immediately that delivery of it as without exception the fastest. This tailgate made the act of hooking and unhooking from my 5th wheel trailer was simplified tremendously. The visual of the Pin lining up with the hitch was very clear. The Tailgate did require some minor assembly by me however minimal tools were all that was needed for the assembly. This took a mere 30 minutes for me to perform and the tailgate fit perfectly. It still looks great to this day and performs excellently. I recommend this product without reservation.

I received and attempted to install the tailgate. The pins and the receivers on the tailgate are of different size. The pins are 1.25 inch diameter and the receivers internal dims on the tailgate 1.125 or even slightly less. It looks to me as though the tailgate receivers where designed for a 1" pin

Hello etrailer staff! My tailgate arrived in a timely fashion but the journey was hard on the box and packing inside the box. UPS beat up on the box to the point of some of the contents are still in a truck or warehouse. I called etrailer and spoke with Noah. He assured me that he would get the missing parts in the mail and I would have all I needed to mount my tailgate. Noah was good to his word. Parts arrived today and the tailgate is mounted. The tailgate should be fine. Thank you Noah and all etrailer Staff. You did a fine job for me and my old 2001 Duramax Chevy.

The fifth wheel tail gate is excellent tail gate that makes my truck even better than it already does. I will be using it all the time as my everyday tail gate, it lets me have a tail gate on my truck even when trailer is attached to my truck

Love the tailgate sturdy and strong,the only thing that should be in the package and isn't for a 2013 F-150 Ford the passenger side bushing is not included in the kit. U have to buy it from other sources.

I love this tailgate!!! It was a snap to install. It fit perfectly without any adjustments. It is very snug around the striker bolts, does not wiggle at all!! very impressed. Thank you!!

I give it a four just because I feel it can be more durable there is gap from one end to the other that can fit a metal pipe.....hint hint. I weigh like 210 and afraid to enter with the tailgate down. I do like the amount of space between my fifth wheel and the gate. Another suggestion etrailer maybe make a quick release pin for the tailgate insert? So I can take the insert of quick when I need too.

Very Nice! The installation instructions were clear and easy to follow. The tailgate itself took a little time to loosen up and start moving freely but did. I’m very happy with the purchase!
