Swagman Truck Bed Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Fork Mount - 9-mm Skewer
I used 2 inch square tubing cut the length of the tie down support bracket in my 2007 Honda Ridgeline and secured with a stainless bolt and wing nut, use a large enough washer to cover the diameter of the supply hole in the Honda Ridgeline bracket on the truck. A couple of notes: Be sure to use something as a cushioning gasket to insure a snug fit and to protect your truck lining. I used rubber or foam exercise mat cut to the same as the aluminum square tubing. Use a washer that a combination of hard plastic and metal to avoid the corrosive effects of dissimilar metals in contact with each other. last: My 26" full suspension bike fits, but I have swing it to one side slightly before i close the tailgate and lift the bike up and slide it down....It's a very snug fit but the suspension adds pressure to the tailgate and its works out very well. Or you could just use a tailgate extender.
Referring to special mounting instructions if you have a bed liner: (line #3). I do not have a bed liner, but I do have a molded plastic cap on my bed rails ('04 Ford F350). The first install over the plastic cap the locking pin or pin as called out in line #3 was nowhere near making contact with the metal lip of the metal bed under the plastic. What I did next on the second and final install was remove/cut away the plastic on the inside of the bed rail to allow the vertical portion of the "L" mounting bracket (Fig 4) to contact the metal bed. The locking pin is now at a position almost where it would protrude under the metal bed lip if I would remove the rest of the plastic under the horizontal portion of the "L" mounting bracket, I did not do that. After cutting a notch in the metal rail to accept the pin, the pin barely flushes out to secure the rack. A 1/4" longer pin would take care of this problem. One other thing that was not addressed in the install instructions was if you have a full size pick-up bed you are likely to attach the passenger side fork mount (Fig 2) to the right of the extension tube locking mechanism. The extension tube is a smaller diameter, so you will have resize the fork tube clamp (Fig 1) for the smaller tube. I can't explain how to do it other than it's a Chinese puzzle.

Softride Shuttle Pad Tailgate Pad for Full-Size Trucks - Up to 6 Bikes - 61" Wide
The fit for a 2014 Ram was spot on, no issue with the wide style tailgate top and the access flap for the tailgate handle lined up perfectly. Material is durable and easy to clean, the only thing holding it from a 5 stars is if it had the padded dividers on top to keep the bikes separated. But for the price, the fit and finish was exceptional, great value !!!
The product review/installation video helped me make my selection. I selected the full size pad for 2001 Silverado 1500. Installs easily, fits nicely, flap in pad is positioned for easy access to tailgate latch.

Inno Velo Gripper Bike Rack for Truck Beds - Clamp On
Using the Grippers for carrying 2 ebikes, weighing 55 & 75 lbs. I know this is above the rated bike weights but so far they have performed well. My short bed keeps the 75# bike pretty well locked in front to back so that may help.
I am disappointed that they don’t hold my bikes better than they do. I still have to strap them down so they don’t fall out. They are pretty expensive for what you get. I need to modify them so they will actually work. Not really what I was expecting to do, but I need to so my bikes are secured.

Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Bike Carrier - Fork Mount - Bolt On
The Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Bike Carrier - Fork Mount - Bolt On, is just what I was looking for to be able to build a bike rack for carrying one of my bikes on my motorcycle. It was easy to mount and it holds my bike in place while riding on bumpy dirt roads, city streets, highways and even when I hit some twisty country roads. It's really easy to load and unload my bike when I get to where I want to ride. I use a velcro strap around the quick-release and the fork arm as an added safety as well as a couple tie-downs from my bike handlebars to my motorcycle passenger pegs to help distribute the weight on my rack. If you want to build your own DIY bike rack I totally recommend the Hollywood Racks Truck Bed Bike Carrier - Fork Mount - Bolt On.
Love this product! I built a great bike carrying system for my F-150 using two of these fork clamps. They are easy to install and extremely well made. No more tangled bikes and lots more room in the bed for other stuff! Best way to go for a nice bike rack system. Thanks, Phil T.

Swagman Patrol Truck Bed Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Fork Mount - 9-mm Skewer and 15-mm Thru-Axle
rack tends to work itself loose from bed walls during long trips. had to strap down with ratchet straps to keep from moving. locks only work at a specific angle -- wish the manual had said this because we couldn't lock our bikes until figuring it out.
Excellent Customer service and help for this product. Thank you Carol and Neil your the best.

Yakima BlockHead Single Bike Truck Bed Mounted Rack - Bolt-on - 9-mm Skewer
Have used the block head bike mounts by Yakima on trips of 800 to 1500 miles with no incident. Easy to mount the bikes and they have not released even on bumpy roads. Great product for my truck box and bikes are always in view. Easiest way I have found to transport our bikes
With a little adaption the Yakima brackets mounted to my built in bed rails on my 2010 Nissan Frontier. With my truck cap this makes my bikes safe and secure, out of sight out of mind.

Kuat Dirtbag Bike Rack - Fork Mount - Bolt On - 15 mm Thru-Axle Skewer
Cheap alternative compared to having to buy a 9mm thru axle mount for the utili-track in my Nissan Frontier AND THEN having to buy an adapter for that! For under $10 I bought some parts from a local hardware store and made this mount fit the track. It's sturdy, and high quality.
Disappointed. The Kuat Dirtbag works, and feels relatively solid once installed, but is about 2-3 mm shorter than my hub. That means while loading and unloading the fork doesn't sit nicely on the rack and inserting/removing the thru-axle can be quite challenging. I'd heard great things about Kuat's products, and all I can say is I'm glad this one isn't as overpriced as the rest of their lineup.

Thule Insta-Gater Pro Truck Bed Bike Rack - 1 Bike
Linda and I recently ordered two Aventon Pace 500 NextGen E-bikes from [bike store] in Madison, WI. Not wanting to just toss our expensive new bikes in the back of the p/u when they arrive next month we promptly ordered the Thule Instagator from etrailer. My prior experience with etrailer came as a recommendation from a friend. I was able to do quite a bit of the research on etrailers website, the demonstration video extremely helpful and we placed an order. The racks were in-stock, shipped promptly, etrailer providing a very nice tracking link that included pics of the staff involved in processing the order and a map of the route all the way to delivery. Absolutely 1st rate service. The racks showed up in perfect condition about two days after placing the order, exactly as promised. We are very pleased with etrailer, will most certainly be ordering from them again and recommend this company w/o reservation. Nice job etrailer!
I bought two racks to transport my ebikes. The tires do not fit in the rack. the cradle that holds the tire require to be wider. I need to return them. please assist me in this matter. thank you

Zach: Hey guys, Zach here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule GateMate Pro 60 inch version on our 2020 Ford F-150. This is going to be a tailgate pad for full-sized trucks. And I think it's going to have a really nice setup for you, especially if you're looking to move bikes. There are a lot of tailgate pads out there, and they all do a really good job of protecting your tailgate and getting bikes moved around the way we have this one set up. But where this one separates itself is it has a lot of really good padding here when it's sitting on top.
Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-150
Today in our 2017 Ford F-150, we're going to be test fitting the Thule GateMate tailgate pad and bike rack for full size trucks. Part number TH824. We already have our bike installed on it. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now normally this is how you would have the bike set up on the tailgate pad. You can fit at least one other bike on here, or you could also put say a surfboard or a stand-up paddle board. We have these points here on the top, which you can use as tie down points, which you can purchase those separately and secure your bike, or your paddle board or surfboard, to the actual tailgate pad itself. Let's go and take the bike off and set it aside. It just lifts up and off like that, very easy. Another feature about this, it has this flap here with hook and loop straps, which you can open up and have easier access to your tailgate latch like so.
Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford F-150
Today in this 2016 Ford F-150, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule Bed Rider II bike rack for truck beds, part number TH822XTR. Now, how this works is it'll actually grab your bikes by the forks, and you do have space for additional fork mounts here, should you need them. To open them up, you simply pop this loose, and you can unscrew it from both sides to gain more space to lift up and out of the way. When you're ready to go, you simply push it back down, and these are lockable, so your bikes will be secure while you travel. The bike rack itself is lockable, but I'll show that later. Let's go ahead and take the bike out, and I'll lift it up and out of the way. Go ahead and close that back up. Now, the skewers themselves are also adjustable. Slide back and forth where you need them to by loosening these two screws here and just adjusting it as needed. Also, the other lock I was talking about is on this latch here, which is essentially how this hooks into your truck bed. You lift this up, which loosens it up, and then you spin the whole thing to either tighten it or loosen it to your specifications. Now, when you're ready to go, simply push it down, lock it up, and you're ready to travel. And there you have it for the Thule Bed Rider II bed bike rack for your truck bed, part number TH822XTR on our 2016 Ford F-150. First, we'll take it on our slalom course.

Today, in our 2016 Ford F150, we've got out the Thule Instigator. We're going to test if it for you, and show you how it fits in the back of the vehicle, here. Now the Instigator is a very quick way of installing a bike rack in the bed of your truck, with no tools required, at all. At 17 1/2" wide, you should be able to get three across the back of your Ford pickup. Now to use it, what we're going to do is set the Instigator right here at the rear of the vehicle. You'll see the T-straps have already gone down into their location where we'll want those to be. It's going to be in the gap between the tailgate and the bed of the truck.

We'll begin our test fit by placing the Gate Mate onto our vehicles tailgate. We'll then lift up the hook and loop access pad to expose the tailgate handle. We'll pull down the tailgate handle and shove the three straps on the underside of the tailgate. We'll then close the tailgate and get inside of the bed. Again, we'll open up the tailgate which will allow us to get our fingers down in between the tailgate and the truck bed to pull the straps up through.
Swagman Pick-Up Truck Bed Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford F-150
Today on our 2013 Ford F150 we'll be testing the Swagman Pickup Truck Bed Mounted 2 Bike Carrier, part number S64702. We'll begin our test fit by placing one end of the rack onto one side of the bed rail of our truck. We'll then use the silver lever to extend out the bike rack to fit the width of our bed rails. Now what you'll want to do is make the rack a little bit longer than the distance between each bed rail and then insert the bike rack at a diagonal and push it in position, making sure the bike rack is perpendicular to the bed rails of our F150. Now with everything secured and tightened down were ready to load up our bike. We'll double check to make sure the skewer is loosened and we'll place our bike into our truck bed.
Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford F-150
Today on our 2012 Ford F-150, we've got out Thule Insta-Gater and we're going to test that in here and just kind of get you a look at how it works. The Insta-Gater's a bike rack designed to fit right in the channel or the gap that's going to run between the tailgate and the bed of the truck. Just position it just like so. We're going to allow both of the, see the T-straps there We're going to allow those to go down, so right in between the bed and the gate itself, and then as we close that up and that gap narrows, it's going to hold those in position for us, just like that. Now we'll need to get in the truck. You'll see our chrome levers there.
Kuat Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2011 Ford F-150
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Huk Tailgate Pad for Full-Size Trucks and seeing how this fits on our 2011 Ford F-150. Now, a tailgate pad is a great way to carry, on this one, up to six bikes with you in your truck. It's great, because it utilizes the space in your truck bed while still keeping the bikes organized, because sure, you can throw six bikes in the back of your F-150, but they're gonna be banging around together, all in a big pile, potentially damaging each other, and they're not very secure. And this is going to hold them upright, side by side with one another, and the only thing that's gonna end up overlapping is the tires over your forks, which some people might not be super fond of, in those cases, maybe I'd recommend a hitch-mounted rack that keeps your bikes more separated, but for this, it's a great effective way to get a lot of bikes with you quickly and relatively inexpensively. This is definitely a more premium tailgate pad, just know that there's a reason for that.

Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack Review - 2008 Ford F-150
Today on our 2008 Ford F150 well be test fitting the Thule Gate Mate tailgate pad and bike rack for full-sized trucks, part number th824. Well begin our test fit by placing the Gate Mate onto our pickup trucks tailgate. Well then take the three straps and shove them on the bottom side of the tailgate in between the tailgate and the rear bumper. I have found that it is easiest to get inside of the truck bed, open the tailgate from the outside and hold the tailgate with one arm while pulling the straps through the slit between the tailgate and the pickup truck bed. Once all three straps are pulled up, we can then close the tailgate and insert the straps through the black plastic buckles on the back side of the pad. We then can tighten them all down.
