Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Sonic

Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Sonic, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency portable braking system, part number BRK2012. Here's what the Patriot is going to look like once it's installed in the vehicle. As you can see it clamps on to the brake pedal and rests against the front edge of the driver's seat. This braking system is nice, because it works wirelessly from the motor home to the vehicle, and it's a proportional braking system, so however much force you apply to the brakes in the motor home it will apply that same amount of force to the brakes in the towed vehicle. This unit does have a 12-volt outlet on it so if there's something else that you may need to have plugged in, here inside the vehicle while it's being towed you can plug it in to the socket that's on the Patriot box without having to add an extra 12-volt outlet. For our controller here, is what goes inside the motor home and you plug it in and then this will show you what your gain is, and you can adjust your gain on here, as well as on the Patriot box itself. It will give you the same lights to let you know that the unit is on, that the break-away switch is plugged in and working.

It is a permanent install system, but all components are spread out to make it a little bit easier to fit inside the vehicle. Let's go ahead and take a look at the components that we can see. Right here is a G-Force 2 controller.
