Best 2013 Jeep Wrangler Tow Bar Wiring Options

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to take a look at the best wiring harnesses available for flat tow setup. Here we're going to have our TrailerMate T-style connection setup. This is part number TM781124. This harness protects the towed vehicle from feedback, but it does not protect the motorhome from feedback. Here in the middle is going to be a very similar setup to the TrailerMate. This one's from Hopkins.

Hopkins Tail Light Wiring Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler we'll be installing the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Kit for Towed Vehicles; part number HM56200. To begin our install, we'll start with the tail lights. We'll go ahead and remove the rear tail lights. To remove the tail lights, we'll remove the two fasteners that secure it to the body; slip it out of its position. To remove the wiring, we'll press on the locking tab and then remove the connector from the socket. Now we can go ahead and set the tail light aside for installation later. Next, we'll repeat the same process on the other side. Now we've removed the tail light assemblies and we can gain access behind it.

Roadmaster Tow Bar Wiring Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler we'll be installing the Roadmaster Universal Diode wiring kit, Part Number RM-154. First, to begin our install, go ahead and remove the tail light assembly on the passenger side. To remove the taillight assembly, we'll remove the two fasteners that secure it. Once we remove the fasteners, we'll go ahead and pop the tail light assembly out and then pull it out so we can gain access to the manufacturer's wiring. Next we'll need to test the manufacturer's wiring to locate the running light circuit and the passenger turn signal and braking circuit. Using our test light, we'll go ahead and probe the wires now. As you can see, the white wire with the yellow tracer will be the turn signal and brake circuit and the white wire with the brown tracer will be our running light circuit. We'll need to drill a hole in the bottom plastic panel going up through the foam and out the access hole so that we can gain access to our wires. We'll go ahead and drill our hole. We'll need to get our four-pull harness fed up behind the passenger side taillight assembly.
