It leaves about an 1 1/2” gap at the bottom of the screen because the retractor needs to move that much to lock into place. It come with no mounting screws, and the instructions are somewhat vague. Also be aware that if you’re tailgate latch mechanism has an inside plate that pulls against the inside door frame the screen side channels will need to be moved a little over 1/4” back to allow clearance.
