Stromberg Carlson Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan we're doing a test fit of the Stromberg-Carlson 23 by 60 cargo carrier. That part number is CC-100. This is designed to work with 2" hitches and has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. Now although it does have a very high weight capacity, it is very lightweight and easy to move into and take out of your hitch. The first thing we're going to do is take a few measurements. Starting off with our ground clearance, we're going to have about 9-3/4". Overall to our vehicle we're going to have about 27-1/4".

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan we're doing a test fit of the CURT folding 20 by 60 cargo carrier. That is designed to work with 2" hitches and has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. The part number for it is C18151. Now while we have this installed on our vehicle we're going to start off with a few measurements. Our ground clearance is going to be first. We're going to have about 12-1/4" of clearance.

Now this is designed to work with 2" hitches only and has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. While it's installed, the first thing we're going to do is take a few measurements. Starting off with our ground clearance, we're going to have about 14-1/4". Overall to our vehicle, we'll measure down here. We're going to have about 27".



MaxxTow Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan we're doing a test fit of the MaxxTow 48 by 21 cargo carrier. That part number is MT70422. Now this is designed to work with 2" hitches only and has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. Although it does have that very high weight capacity, it is very lightweight. It's made out of a lightweight aluminum so it's easy to put into and take out of our hitch. The first thing we're going to do with it installed here is take a few measurements. We're going to start off with our ground clearance.

Now this is designed to work with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches and has a weight capacity of 300 pounds. Although it does have that high weight capacity, it is very lightweight so it's easy to put into and take out of our hitch. The first thing we're going to do while it's installed is take a few measurements. We're going to start off with our ground clearance to the bottom of our bolt here.



Lets Go Aero Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Lets Go Aero GearCage. This is going to be your 32 inch wide by 49 inches long GearCage. It's going to have that nice sturdy construction with that solid base and a 300-pound weight capacity. If you look down here, you're going to see a 2-inch shannk attached into our 2-inch receiver only. It's going to have a 7/8 inch anti-rattle bolt going through it that's going to secure it and help reduce the sway, rattle and wobble as you can see here. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest measurement will first from the back side of the bumper to the front side of the rack at about 5 3/4 inches.



Detail K2 20x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Detail K2 cargo carrier. This cargo carrier is going to be 20 inches wide, 60 inches long and with its sturdy steel construction, it's going to offer a 500-pound weight capacity. It's also going to have that nice expanded metal base for easy cleanability and a 2-inch folding shank that will allow you to tuck it up on the back of the vehicle when you don't have it in use. Again, with that 2-inch shank, you're only going to be able to attach that to your class 3 or 2-inch receiver and it's going to be attaching via a hitch pin and clip. Now, if you do not have that hitch pin and clip since this rack does not come with one, you can obtain one on our website, part number PC3. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be up here first at about 6 1/2 inches before it meets up with the weld to the back end of the receiver, from the rack to the back side of the bumper is going to be able 11 3/4 inches.



Curt 24x60 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Cargo Carrier. It's going to be 24 inches wide, 60 inches long, has a nice expanded metal base and sturdy steel construction offering a 500-pound weight capacity. It's going to be part number C18153. Notice here that it's also going to have that nice folding shank so when you don't have it in use, you can tuck it up against the back of the vehicle. With that 2-inch shank, it's only going to connect to your 2-inch receiver. Now, it's going to connect to that 2-inch receiver using a hitch pin and clip. Now, if you do not have a hitch pin and clip already and you'd like to obtain one, you can get it on our website, part number PC3.



Surco Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan well be test fitting the Surco 24x60 Cargo Carrier for 2-inch hitches, part number 52018. To mount the carrier to our vehicle well insert the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of our hitch. Well line up the pin holes and secure the carrier with a standard 5/8-inch pin and clip. Next well go over a handful of clearance measurements so you can get an idea of how the carrier will fit behind the vehicle. Weve got about 1 inch of clearance between the closest part of the carrier and the closest part of our caravan. Weve added about 26-1/2 inches of length to the rear of our vehicle.



Curt Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan well be test fitting the Curt 24-inch by 60-inch Folding Cargo Carrier for 2-inch hitches, part number C18132. Now there isnt enough rear bumper clearance for us to use this carrier in the folded up position, so were just going to have to lay it out flat and use it like a fixed cargo carrier. To mount our carrier to the vehicle well insert the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well line up the pin holes and secure the carrier with a standard 5/8-inch pin and clip. Next well go over some clearance measurements so you can get an idea of how the carrier fits behind the vehicle. Weve got about 17 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier.

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan well be test fitting the Curt 20x 48 cargo carrier part number C18145. Now our Caravan has a 2-inch hitch on it so well be using the adapter installed on our carrier. To mount the carrier, well insert the shank into the receiver tube of the hitch. Well line up our pinholes and then thread in our anti-rattle bolt, finally tightening it down with a wrench. Next well go over a handful of clearance measurements so you can get an idea of how the carriers going to fit behind the Grand Caravan. Weve got about 11 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier.



Surco Folding Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting the 24x60 folding cargo carrier for two inch hitches by Surco. Part number 52018F. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin. With our hitch pin installed, our cargo carrier is secured to the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Now the ground clearance at the bottom of the cargo carrier is eight and a half inches.



Curt Folding Aluminum Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting the Curt 20x60 folding aluminum cargo carrier, part number C18100. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up our hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin, and that'll secure our cargo carrier to the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Now our ground clearance at the bottom of the cargo carrier is seven and a half inches. And from the closest point of the cargo carrier in the stored position to the back of the vehicle is two and a half inches. We'll now pull the pin on our cargo carrier to fold our platform down.



UWS Aluminum Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting part #UWS03511, the 23x51 aluminum cargo carrier for two inch hitches. That will begin our install we'll simply slide the cargo carrier shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install our hitch pin. This will secure our cargo carrier to the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Now our cargo carrier closest point to the back of the vehicle is an inch and a half and it'll add an additional 24 and a half inches of overall length to the vehicle. The ground clearance at the cargo carrier is nine inches and the exhaust on this vehicle exits the passenger rear.
